Yarrick just stares him down and keeps talking. All the other Astartes present (Grimaldus included) just glare at the Astartes like "Cringe dude, just stfu and listen to Yarrick"

@@zieg0r from what I heard of that, the Orks believe that only Thraka is able to kill Yarrick, and vice versa, so because of that, both are unable to be killed outright by anything else.
One fact I love about Yarrick is he heard rumours that the orks believed he could kill with a stare, so he got a laser implanted in his eyes to do just that

Ollanius Pius: "So you're telling me I stood infront of Horus to protect the Emperor and I don't even get an honourable mention in this? You're mad lucky I can't come back!"
Ollanius didn't really accomplish anything, though. He jumped in front of a tank and died pointlessly. It was brave, sure, but not really worth anything. Everyone else on the list accomplished some great feat in addition to being stupidly brave.
My head cannon for Sly Marbo is that he is a perpetual, but 1000s of years of constant war has mashed his brain Jason Bourne style. He remembers the moves but has no memory of any events he’s apart of
My head cannon for Sly Marbo is that "he" is a title/position. Like "James Bond", or "Kenpachi". How do you become a "Sly Marbo"? Well, you do something bad ass enough, and the brass pins another medal on "Sly Marbo" before quietly executing you for disobeying orders. That's why the IG can't "send Sly Marbo" - he's already there, he's EVERY Catachan sole survivor who pulls off some "impossible" victory - you just need a Catachan squad to get screwed over and a single guardsman to be blessed by RNGesus, and another "Marbo Moment" finds it's way into the meme-pool. My favorite Marbo Moment was with a borrowed Catachan army - the Sargent survived a round of attacks from the broodlord that ate the heavy armor, and then killed it WITH A CHARGE. (He did only do one wound - but it was the LAST wound, and they were the last living things on the table, pure RNGesus, pure EPIC.)
Well there has been a history of Mortal perpetuals besides the emperor existing in canon. Hell, the one the fans actually like was considered to be the closest thing the emperor ever had to a friend. So much so that he was allowed to commit religious heresy through ought his existence. However games workshop is really shaky about acknowledging the fact there were other Perpetuals besides the Salamander primarch, and the big E himself. They much prefer the "a company of Guardsmen got really lucky and smashed up horus's ship"
@@thefallencog There are lots of perpetuals and many worked against big e and chaos both. Erda was the one who put the idea of evolving humanity in big e head. Though I guess a lot of her lore is in limbo with many other perpetuals.
@@thefallencog I don't see how Games Workshop doesn't acknowledge perpetuals existing. They are in the literature. John Grammaficus and Damon Prytanis feature heavily for example. Anval Thawn is another well known perpetual. And of course Ollanius Persson.
During that meeting, he looked at the other Astartes for support, and they gave HIM the "Shut the fuck up rookie, you're a disgrace" stare . When more experienced Astartes than you ask a man for advice on how to best deal with an Ork horde, you should really sit down, shut up, and listen - THEY are better than YOU, and THEY are asking HIM for advice.....
Honourable mention for Mkoll of the Tanith First and Only. His accomplishments: Singlehandedly assassinating two Chaos warlords with explosives, both of whom were behind heavily defended fortresses crawling with armies of Chaos. Beating a Dark Eldar Mandrake in a solo sniper duel. Surviving 17 months on a Chaos world, including a run in with an entire squad of Chaos Marines. Taking out a Chaos dreadnaught. Out-sneaking three Space Marines.
I think Mkvenner and Dorden also from the Tanith First and Only should also probably count. Dorden was a pacifist with balls big enough that Astartes thought he knew no fear. Mkvenner was a member of the group which went to infiltrate a Chaos world and, when most of the team left, decided to play Night Lord against the Chaos world. Successfully.
fr tho. Cain is such an unpredictable badass, that even after his official death and funeral, he's STILL listed as active duty by the departmento munitorum because the man has come back from lethal odds so many times.
Man, imagine if macharius, Yarrick and marbo could have combined their strength. Macharius summons a massive armada, Yarrick prepares The troops and tanks, while sly marbo goes behind The enemy lines To be himself.
And then there's Cain right on the frontlines, running right to the backlines and keeping morale on a higher standard than having Guilliman himself there with the conscripts
Now I need some Endgame battle where Yarrick, Creed, Cain, Macharius, Venner, Sly Marbo, and every other imperial guard bad ass all in one battle combing their experience and regiments to kick ass.

Another reason why I like that normal people in Warhammer 40K can beat space Marines or do things more impactful than space Marines is because becoming a space Marine it's basically sheer luck you have to be born on the right planet to be lucky enough to be picked up by a space Marine chapter you have to get lucky enough to survive the training have compatible genetics for the gene seed implantation and then you can become a space Marine and at that point with all the luck involved people of may as well just have been born space Marines but when a normal or below average individual is able to perform better than a space Marine in some way through their own hard work and constantly making the decision to do the best they can that's special rather than just being statistically unlikely to be a space Marine.
@@drebodollaz3504 the problem is even if you are a exceptional individual the space Marine still have to come to your planet to give you the training and Gene seed you need
It's still luck either way, but the numbers allowing some exceptional individual to prove themselves. See, a shell doesn't really care if you are an individual with great potential, or not. But sometimes, the one surviving is one like that. And given the opportunity, they prove themselves. The exception to the rule are people with enormous luck, who somehow just keep going.
Thing is, these people are not normal. They are several of gifted people who comes from trillions and trillions people. So, it could be said they are even more rare than space marines.
Instead of going for the meme you could have chosen Oan McKoll from Gaunts ghosts as number 5. He outsneaked a dark Eldar assassin and he outmoved/outsmarted a chaos dreadnaught. He also assassinated a Chaos warlord and he is one of the main reasons why the ghosts won many battles
Not even a regular assassin but a mandrake, a living shadow, and it wasn't even a contest. He also outplayed whole squad of white scars. Definitely deserved to be on the list
@@archetiip if you're referring to the one on the ship, it wasn't a squad of white scars but rather 3 space marines from different chapters, among them a white scar and an iron snake. But yeah, Mkoll is a very bad ass character, even getting captured just to infiltrate the enemy. I've heard he is Abnett's favorite character, which makes sense.
Remember in 3rd editon of the Guards codex there was a couple of paragraphs on a text box randomly at the side of one of the pages telling this story and it totally captured my imagination.
Been reading the Gaunt's Ghosts books and what makes these so impressiv is the humanity of it all, something that can feel lacking in stories about huge, power armoured superhumans. That humanity makes the heroic deeds so much better every time. A couple of humans with lasguns, 3 grenades and a LOT of determination taking out the enemey commander in an incredible last stand? Sign me tf up
Lotarra may have the biggest balls of any character in 40k. She also looks pretty badass in artwork. The fact she shot a astartes in the face, yelled at him, spit in his face, and sent him to his room and we he got made was defended by fellow space marines is insane. Easily baddest female in 40k.
She is my favourite character, even talks shit to angron sometimes, though I think he loves it, though doesn't really listen. I think she is the only human aside from malcador who has spoke shit to a primarch to their face. Love reading about her in the novels.
If the Orks are given enough time it can possibly screw everyone except nids, since their spores are virtually invincible and they can respawn in 100 years. Given enough time and tech the orcs could obliterate everyone

Macharius needs to be a character in tabletop that has buffs on the same tier if not higher than guilliman, but you know the durability of slightly above a guardsman
With Lotara, it makes sense that she is above even the Primarch Angron because in nearly every Navy in the world, the Captain of the boat is the highest authority, even if a admiral boards the vessel. The only person who can challenge the captain is a doctor if they deem them not physically fit to be in command.
You made a valid point about Eisenhorn not being corrupted by choice. Reminds me of the "Gaunt's Ghosts" novel, in which their squad returns from a chaos planet and the result is pretty much the same. Insane story though. Might be an idea for another list: "Top Unexpected Uncorrupted Characters". Also: Ibram Gaunt should be on a list like this. Dude's fucking badass.
Many of the Ghosts are kinda funny for being uncorrupted. While there are members who were corrupted, like the children who were turned into demon engines, it was really funny when they got back from the Chaos world and shocked the everyone for being neither dead nor corrupted. They have a book dedicated to how incorruptible they were.
@@cp1cupcake That book had one of the all-time-best moments in all of the lore: when Gaunt and Rawne just "held hands" and stood in for another. Small moment, but so damned impactful. Love it.
When going through some of the lore of standard humans in 40k it sometimes makes me wish the human faction on the tabletop were designed different. Like rather than Space marines and guard being separate the Space Marines were just elite units in the Imperial Guard army. Make them potent and expensive and can only be deployed on turn 2 or later (Since SM's in lore show up after the IG have already been fighting). If you want to balance it against CSM subject them to the same thing but attached to traitor guard or cultists armies.
I remember that Imperium used to be a single faction on the tabletop back in the 1st ed. But stopped early on. Still would be interested though. Now with the new chaos and traitors released.
considering that SM tactics in way to many books consits of "shoot it, and if it doesn't work, shoot harder" (and ofc this bulls..t worked), it is no surprise, that a tactical mind can and should easily outsmart them.

A fine selection. But no Ciaphas Cain? Also he fought and survived the 13th black crusade. Its not that the others dont deserve the spot just that Cain also did. Great work my man keep it up!
Eisenhorns relationship with the daemon is a great sign how he becomes more radical in his methods. Starting as a puritist who only performce his duty by the book he turns into a radical who uses everything at his desposal no matter how much it violates the rules of the Inquisition, making him an outlaw of the Inquisition and a wanted heretic in the process. He first tried to kill the daemon and saw him as his Nemesis, since the daemon tormented him in his dreams and constantly tries to corrupt him. After defeating the master who bound the daemon to the materium, Eisenhorn binds and enslaves him in the basement of his manson, instead of literaly erasing him from exsistence, like he did with another daemon just a few hours prior, since Eisenhorn wanted to torment him in return by keeping him locked up for eternaty without any contact to others. Later he used the daemon as a weapon/tool and saw him just as such. After he safed Eisenhorns life multiple times, Eisenhorn starts to kinda befriend the daemon and even allows him to roam free as long as he answers to him, if he calls apon the deamon. They are kinda like Mephisto and Dr. Faust in the middle/end of book 2.
I will give an honorable mention to Tarasha Euten, Guilliman's adoptive mother. For context, Euten was the seneschal (a term for a steward or head of the household) of Konor Guilliman, Roboute's adoptive father. Euten was the person who raised Roboute, and it says a lot of her parenting skills for a freaking Primarch to obey her. Roboute, in turn, often sought her advice, even after Roboute had pledged allegiance to his actual gene-father the Emperor. I should point out that Euten was already an elderly woman when the Horus Heresy broke out, and even then, still continued to advise and command the respect of Roboute. During the whole Imperium Secundus fiasco (which was partially her idea), she came face to face with Guilliman's erstwhile brother Konrad Curze, who had come to kill her and make Roboute despair. I need to stress: Euten is a feeble old woman, and when faced with a freaking Primarch who can kill her in a number of ways easily, she looked him in the eyes and told him to "go to Hell". That is pretty hardcore, if you ask me.
0:40 this is why Astarties lineages that hold virtues in high regard, such as the Imperial Fists, or the Wolves of Fenris, actually respect mortals that demonstrate them
There is this incredibly sobering image of Eisenhorn made by, I think his handle was NRG? Eisenhorn and Cherubael are walking past a silvered window, and he's looking into a reflection of his younger years with all of his former compatriots. I still think about it every so often.
Yarick can use ork tech because the orks believe he can. If you kill a warboss, it is not just accepted but expected that you will take his best bits and use them. So when he killed the boss and took the claw the orks who were there thought "fuck me, da 'umie gonna use dat claw and get stuck in!", so he could.
You could have named a few of the Ghosts over and above Big Ibram himself. Mkoll, killed Eldar, killed a dreadnought, kills *no spoilers* but he is death. Mkvenner, stood toe to toe with a wirewolf. Knows mental fighting skills. As good as Mkoll, if not better at stealth.
I'm biased from loving the whole series, but any 1 of the 3 biggest badasses from Gaunt's Ghosts could make the list. Gaunt, Mkoll and Mkvenner. Or, including others like Criid, Bragg, Larkin, Corbec, Rawne, Harkin, Ezra, all of the scouts, and about 30 other reccuring characters, the whole GG could be one spot.
Admiral Spire is one of my favorites; the dude literally sent two Black Crusades back on their heels just showing up and brought several of Abaddon's best lieutenants to their knees in the 12th Black Crusade. The bulk of the bad-ass humans of 40k are the result of the fact that the Giga Chad Space Marines are so rare that mortal humans have to say F it; we are doing it ourselves. Mortal Humans may not be the most impressive on the Tabletop; but God help Chaos in the lore when a determined Mortal Human has had enough of the Chaos God Bulls@ittery
My dude forgot the biggest Giga Chad in existence. Ciaphas Cain. The dude litterally duelled loyalist space marines in training and got the first hits in, killed several khornite berserker in a sword fight in a 1 vs 1 a swarm lord and several orc war bosses. Dude is a beast and didnt even realize it.
One thing about Sly Marbo I like to fantasize is that maybe Sly Marbo is what Catachams call unknown bodies or unnamed soldiers, like John Doe. So there is a reason why "Sly Marbo" has many Stars of Terra, hundreds of missions, thousands of kills and is pretty much everywhere in the galaxy but no one can pin the guy down. It is really just the Expendables. The Catachams keep the practice because, at this point, Sly Marbo is kind of a saint of all regular joes from Catacham.

from my very limited knowledge of 40k, wouldnt Yarrick being able to use orks tech mean that the orks believed he simply could use it, and the fact he can still use it means that word spread around and kept going around about him being able to use ork tech. fucking badass
I'm going to jump in with a lot of others here and say that Gaunt is one of the toughest bastards in the imperium. He absolutely deserves a place on this list.
Majorkill is very right with Skillshare and not just Skillshare. I tried to learn Unity, time and time again, already being a coder, I thought it would be easy or at least manageable. Lotara also pulled off some mad shit during the space battle over nuceria, managing to inflict heavy casualties on the ultramarines, destroy plenty of their ships, and prevent them reaching the surface for a good amount of time. The world eater captain she shot redeemed himself in that battle and in her eyes, for whatever its worth. The end result was the ultramarines being driven off altogether, so pretty neat.
Macharius had a great rule back in the day, he had an 3+ invul and a rule that said you may begin the game. no dice rolling, no seizing the initiative.

Alexander didn't end his expansion because his men quit. His men quit and he gave a badass speech and then they agreed to fight again. That was the Opis rebellion. That occurred around modern Baghdad while he was still fighting the Persian empire. He executed the ringleaders of the rebellion and inspired his troops to continue. However, his soldiers did successfully mutiny a second time, whilst he was conquering in India. At the Hyphasis River they once again refused to go further, and Alexander was persuaded to turn around so that his troops could finally return home. It is this second time that is referenced the Macharius story. Alexander then died of sickness in Babylon years later, where he had returned after this event.

So... She basically managed to remain uncorrupted but instead of saving her ship from that fate by blowing it up, she decided to put up a pointless struggle and achieve nothing? Can't say that's a great way to go out.
Lotarra should be the mind of raging mucles and axes of the World eaters, making them an actual galaxy wide threat again. Just my opinion, would be awsome.
I've always believed that the reason Commissar Yarrick is able to wield and use an Ork Power Claw is because he knows Orks so well, he's figured out that they literally just will things to work and is able to also will the same things to work like an Ork would. 🤔
I would love to see lotarra come back in the new world eaters codex mybe as a lord of war as a mega demon prince or i suppose demon princess Still i would love to see her on the table top
She was a ship commander that refused to leave it. Chaos machinery is known to absorb its pilots. While I would love to see her return to lore, it would be a solid bit of character assassination to have her be on the tabletop
11:35 I don't think it's stated officially anywhere, but I think a pretty sound theory about why Yarrick is able to wield his Ork powerclaw is just due to the nature of how Ork tech works. It works because Orks believe it works. Yarrick is just such a beast, and so feared and respected by Orks, that they believe he can wield it therefore he can.

My head cannon for Sly Marbo is that he is a perpetual, but 1000s of years of constant war has mashed his brain Jason Bourne style. He remembers the moves but has no memory of any events he’s apart of
That's a good one

Honourable mention for Mkoll of the Tanith First and Only.
His accomplishments:
Singlehandedly assassinating two Chaos warlords with explosives, both of whom were behind heavily defended fortresses crawling with armies of Chaos.
Beating a Dark Eldar Mandrake in a solo sniper duel.
Surviving 17 months on a Chaos world, including a run in with an entire squad of Chaos Marines.
Taking out a Chaos dreadnaught.
Out-sneaking three Space Marines.
Out sneaking and out witting Dark Eldar assassins.
Dropped out the sky only to survive and take out one of said warlords
Is all this in one book orr
@@mathewtaylor9124 In the Gaunts Ghosts books. Out-sneaking the three space marines was a short story called Killbox I think. It's good stuff.

Being selected to become a space marine isn’t luck. You have to be exceptional yourself first.
@@drebodollaz3504 the problem is even if you are a exceptional individual the space Marine still have to come to your planet to give you the training and Gene seed you need

Macharius needs to be a character in tabletop that has buffs on the same tier if not higher than guilliman, but you know the durability of slightly above a guardsman

The only person who can challenge the captain is a doctor if they deem them not physically fit to be in command.
You made a valid point about Eisenhorn not being corrupted by choice. Now that you've mentioned it, that totally makes sense, the Abnett-verse take on chaos corruption is pretty interesting.
Majorkill hasn't read that series yet unfortunately
The fact that Alexander in SPAAAAACE makes even the primarchs look like complete amateurs by comparison fills me with no end of joy
considering that SM tactics in way to many books consits of "shoot it, and if it doesn't work, shoot harder" (and ofc this bulls..t worked), it is no surprise, that a tactical mind can and should easily outsmart them.

Also he fought and survived the 13th black crusade. Its not that the others dont deserve the spot just that Cain also did. Great work my man keep it up!
Not to mention he took on a Tyranid Kaiju with a sports stadium at one point, and won.
Cain probably bribed him to not be on the list.

"Normal guy who can solo superhuman enemies with nothing but raw human potential, basic equipment and their wits" is my favorite character trope.
Solid snake, batman, Commander Shepard, and so on...
So...
She basically managed to remain uncorrupted but instead of saving her ship from that fate by blowing it up, she decided to put up a pointless struggle and achieve nothing?
Can't say that's a great way to go out.
Grimderp
my man Gregor Eisenhorn is litterally too angry and doesn't have the time to be corrupted by chaos .
Cognitae can't kill themselves
Lotarra should be the mind of raging mucles and axes of the World eaters, making them an actual galaxy wide threat again.
Just my opinion, would be awsome.
I've always believed that the reason Commissar Yarrick is able to wield and use an Ork Power Claw is because he knows Orks so well, he's figured out that they literally just will things to work and is able to also will the same things to work like an Ork would. 🤔
I would love to see lotarra come back in the new world eaters codex
mybe as a lord of war as a mega demon prince or i suppose demon princess
Still i would love to see her on the table top
We need demon princesses, especially of khorne
She was a ship commander that refused to leave it. Chaos machinery is known to absorb its pilots. While I would love to see her return to lore, it would be a solid bit of character assassination to have her be on the tabletop
Uh, Kossolax is the current captain of the Conqueror
She could have become a Daemon Prince like Ingethel
11:35 I don't think it's stated officially anywhere, but I think a pretty sound theory about why Yarrick is able to wield his Ork powerclaw is just due to the nature of how Ork tech works. It works because Orks believe it works. Yarrick is just such a beast, and so feared and respected by Orks, that they believe he can wield it therefore he can.
Disgrace that you didn’t include Oan Mkoll, the man is literally a ghost within the ghosts and hinted at being a Nalsheen.
Wait, wasn't Mkvenner the Nalsheen one??
@@Spoons213 Correct. Ven comes from a long line of Nalsheen but didn't finish his training because he joined the guard. Mkoll gets most of the glory as he is the Scout Sergeant, but Mkoll has said Ven is the best of the scouts.
Just finished Betrayer and Lotara Sarrin is one of my new favorite characters literally ever. Somehow more bloodthirsty than World Eaters.
Honestly, I know it's a bit up to interpretation, but I personally think Eisenhorn wasn't corrupted by torment because, well... he already was a maximum heretic by that point
Yeah that dude is 100% touched by the wrap. That Eldar mate of Gideon's straight up says he is.
@@somethinglikethat2176 I know calling out obvious typos is not a good look, but man
"Touched by the Wrap" if games workshop ever opens a tortilla place this is what they should call it. Its genius
Two more fun Yarrick facts:
1: His daily drive is a baneblade
2: A baneblade once ran him over, he walked it off.
Please do another video like this one. You missed a couple of characters that would fit well into this category. Other than that great job as always
Excellent list and I agree completely. Honourable mentions maybe to Gaunt and Scout Sargent Mkoll maybe. When he kills the Mandrake - perfection!
You know I'm surprised we don't have any special named chaos cultists characters
Seems like every special chaos character is a traitor marine or daemon
Literally Lotara.
@@bloodangel19 yeah but one that's active in the setting.
yeah there is lots of potential for human chaos characters. Gifted chaos cultists, rogue imperial navy admirals, traitor guardsmen, psykers turned sorcerers etc
I knew who was going to be number 1,without seeing it xd.The interesting thing is that in the end,he lost agains the Orks and the greath leader Ork himself left him alive.Because for them war/legendary battles is the best thing in their lives and Yarric he gives the bests.I mean to repeat them with him,i leave him alive hahahaha
Everyone. Skip to 2:00 mark you are welcome
Are you able to do a video on Sargent Aeonid Thiel as I haven't seen a lore video done on him? As he's basically the reason why the ultramarines didn't get totally blind sided at Calth As well as being the reason why Sargents have red helmets.
I demand ciaphas cain episode
CI-CI-CIAPHAS CAIN, HERO OF THE IMPERIUM
Baldermort’s fan-made character Commissar Rikart is the biggest Chad in the 41st Millennium.
I would’ve loved to see Ibram Gaunt mentioned here, especially due to the status he reaches during the novels and the fact his claims the title of ‘Colonel-Commissar’ but really any of the Ghosts would be accurate as the named ones specifically are incredible. But this list is still great.
Hey Major, you’re probably not gon see this but thank you dearly for your fun humour, lore videos, and of course the hentai on patreon. Found you by searching for warhammer videos and came across you and have not regretted being a new fan along for the ride. Your videos been helping me out a lot for the past 2 weeks which have been very very shitty to me for the past month and so I wanted to say thank you for you making this TH-cam channel and for also helping me get into warhammer even more :))
Lotara, first waifu of 40k
11:48 Worth note: Or tech is said to still remain functional if a dead or is used to operate it (like gripping a fresh Ork hand around a shoota to pull the trigger) but due to the WAAAGH energy starting to deplete doesn't remain functional for long with this method, assuming the method is still cannonical.
Yarrick had initially lifted the Power Klaw to intimidate the remaining Orks and once they fled had a techpriest modify it to be operated by Yarrick while roughly retaining it's appearance.
It's times like these here I wish WAAGH was better explained and consistent seeing as I've yet to see someone with more knowledge of the Orks explain it in detail, because it confuses the hell out of me.
No life, so I'm here right now
Eisenhorn: too stoic to get corrupted or too dense, considering his mindset in "The Keeler Image"
I'm so glad Warhammer 40K has normal humans that can beat space Marines and do important things because I don't like it when stories have ordinary people being forced to sit on the sidelines while the superhumans actually do important things.
Ok but logically it would make sense for t then normal people to sit on the side lines and let the genetically created super soldiers t fight the crAzy monsters in the galaxy
@@Son.D.Lollipop yeah it does make sense if normal humans aren't qualified to deal with the situation it would make sense to bring in more capable individuals but I would just like it if a normal person made the right choices they can become one of these more capable individuals rather then relying on luck.
