That snowmobile is a very rare sought after car. Unfortunately it’s not going to last long getting beaten like that. I bet he does apex seals every other month or at least every year
This video made me curious, what happens when you exceed the rev limit of a rotary engine? Because in a normal engine or a valve it will hit the piston or a connecting rod will fly out, but as in the rotary engine there are no opposing forces, only eccentric forces, so what happens?
nothing i’m pretty sure the more fuel and air you give it the higher it revs. only resistance would be exiting forces like the exhaust gases. ports become too small to flow that much air so it just holds at the air limit of the motor. but it’s not efficient at that rpm so they set the rev limiter to the peak in the power band. bigger ports, more fuel and air, more power more rpm.
Most likely the bearings will fail. When the eccentric forces go beyond a certain point (which for the renesis it is proven to be around 12.500-13.000 rpm) the thin layer of oil around the bearing and shaft will be forced out. The result is a spun bearing or worse a catastrophic seal failiure. Thats the reason rotary shops use lighter rotors on high rpm builds, so that eccentric Forces are less in these rpms, but even with that the limit is around 14.500 rpm
