Thanks for showing that off. It looks like a good option for those that live in multiple residence housing complexes where charcoal or gas grills are not permitted.
I have the compact version and I like it. I also bought the extra set of trays to have full smoker/steamer setup. The bark wasn’t good, but ribs came out delicious. Only thing to keep in mind is that food drippings could put out your wood chips, so plan placement accordingly. Also has a setting and trays to hold food warm. I think it was a good buy, even for a house, not apartment. Side note: both the top and bottom inside layers can be removed and cleaned in the sink.
Great review Tom as this was through in the parts etc. For the past 10 years , I have been using an electric Q 2400, which was $250 way back! Has top and bottom aluminum liners, porcelain cast iron grates, and the grate I gently lift to remove the bottom aluminum pan to clean. Cooks very similar to the Lumin. I have a Weber veggie basket and a smoke box for it as well. The cost of the Lumin makes me say not for now. Advantage Q is the domed lid allow for a chicken or roast.
@@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ You can still help me. I have a 24 inch circular table and need the dimensions on the Standard size Footprint of the legs side to side and front to back so it won't be in danger of sliding off.
I have a Weber charcoal kettle, propane, and an electric Q series.. once you figure out the electric grills the food is equally as good as propane. Not as good as charcoal but if you’re considering propane or electric go electric.. anyone who tells you propane is so amazing does not own a charcoal grill.
Thank you for reviewing the Lumin! I got mine today for Father’s Day. Happy grilling to all the dads out there! And moms too if your kid doesn’t have a dad 👍🏼
0:51 I lived in a town house style Apartment with a deck that had a no gas or charcoal grill rule, everyone had Traeger's, like literally every unit seemed to have one, I guess the apartment management didn't understand how a pellet smoker worked and thought they where electric because they plugged in. I just ignored the rule and had a Akron Jr. since everyone else was burning pellets.
Thanks Tom for the video. I have the Compact version which is sufficient for the Mrs. and myself. It won't replace my Weber 22" or Smokey Joe, but sometimes when I don't wish to deal with charcoal, it's perfect. Love your videos.
Thanks for the video Tom. It's a bit expensive but I'd have one if I lived where charcoal or gas isn't safe or permitted. I like the insulated top. The steam insert is perfect for indirect.
Perfect for the apartment dweller and for those who don't what to bother with fuel acquisition and storage. And for the environmentalists, there is no CO2 emissions. For those that care, the required power is 1560 watts, 13 amps.
Looks like a decent grill, a bit pricy but weber stuff does last a while. But the real question is: how well does it smoke? Some low and slow ribs or pork butt would be the ultimate test if you ask me!
Won’t trade in my Weber kettle or RT 380x for one, but for someone in an apartment, it’s a good option since fire departments don’t allow flame grill in DC area.
That seems like a very high cost for an electric grill... I have a Ninja foodie grill... maybe I will take that out onto my deck and see if it does the trick for my outdoor cooking.
Looks like it gets hotter than the broiler in a home oven. I would expect to pay more for Made in USA and Weber quality. I hate Chinese crap, which there is too much of!

Thanks for watching Big Lew! I agree

Thanks for Watching! Yup, thanks for sharing…..
Tom, you are correct that it is slower to heat than a gas grill. But 600 degrees is 600 degrees no matter what the heat source.
Thanks for Watching Robert! You are correct

Can it be used Indoor? Near a window
Thanks for watching! No
@@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ Can I use it without Wood Chips?
Yes
I just saw one on clearance at a local hardware store for $225.00. I quickly ordered it for pickup.
Thanks for watching Rick! Congrats!
Which is better - the standard or the compact? The hinges look flimsy to me. Is the heating coil the same in either model?
Thanks for watching William! I don’t have the compact

Go to Weber’s website for the exact dimensions
@@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ they don't give that.
Per the Weber website 12” high, 26” wide, 29” deep
That's beautiful Tom. It borrows some design cues from the old Samsonite luggage.
Never thought of that… good comparison! Thanks for watching

lol! Thanks for watching!
we can't have pellets where I live...so I use a Weber wood chip pan when grilling on my Weber electric Q and it works great!
The style, double walls, porceline coating and the Weber name are what set it apart and set the price.
Agreed! Thanks for watching!

These were on clearance last end of season at target for just $130.
Thanks for watching! Wow!
a full drip pan would spill out due to having to lift the assembly first and then pulling it out

Hey Tom, would would you recommend the weber lumin or the ninja woodfire grill?
Thanks for watching Ryan, there will be a video…stay tuned…

just opened one out of the box, Ill let you know,.. thanks for the knowledge

It’s good just not at 500 bucks would be nice to have little inside winter grill like that otherwise .
Thanks for Watching Chris!
I have it and I prefer it over charcoal. Much easier.
Thanks for Watching Chris! Appreciate the feedback
That color is 😍😍
Very nice Tom
You are correct Eric! Thanks for watching
Thanks for the review. Very cool. Now I want steaks
Thanks for watching Daniel!
Tom, I don’t think I’ve ever seen you eat a vegetable on your channel. The steak and green beans look great. As far as the grill, a bit pricey for me.
Thanks for Watching! Good observation!
Seems like a nice electric grill, but the price is kinda high. Its a 50 dollar heating element in a 150 dollar grill.
Thanks for the vids Tom
Thanks for watching Kevin!
Nice electric grill Tom! Little pricey but then again, everything seems to be higher! Cheers 🍻
Thanks for Watching! Agreed
Very cool unit
Yes it is! Thanks for wo
Love to see smoke some ribs, that is my key requirement…. Cheers from Canada
Thanks for watching!
No Weber, you priced the product out of the market. I'd go with a Ninja Woodfire for value and versitility.
Thanks for watching Fred!

Thats a nice one
Thanks for Watching! Yes it is
Seems to me that the Weber Pulse is WAAAAAYYY better and a much more versatile design than this toy
Thanks for watching
Not worth it. Can get larger, better propane grills for a lot less. I expect electric ones for less, too.
Thanks for Watching! Appreciate the feedback
Not anything that will ever last. Big box store junk that you have to buy several times is not less
Thanks for watching!
The point of this is for when you can’t use gas. Apartments or such
You're missing the point
