This dream like credit sequence burned into my brain the first time I saw this on TV at around 13 y/o Outstanding and groundbreaking movie in so many ways. Setting aside the PC haters with their 20/20 hindsight, this was the first movie that ever tried to penetrate and and communicate US Chinatown culture to a mainstream audience- a huge risk. Forget the triad plot for a moment. The restaurant kitchen, gaming parlor and bean sprout factory scenes are *spot on*. Is there a more chilling gangster exchange on film than the one between Mr. Tedesco with his larynx reverberator and Joey Tai?

Me too, I was 16. Had rented the movie and watched it 3 times before I had to return the VHS to the "VIDEO STORE." Rewound this part countless times.
