Those Trog fledglings are my brothers and we are the last remnants of a once-proud intergalactic race of heavy chem fiends. Our kind multiplied across the galaxy for centuries using the heaviest of chems and the latest catfishing technology... at least, we used to. Now all that catfishing has come home to noodle, and we are up shit's creek without a paddle! Please, if anyone here could please call the police I think we will just about be done here.

I'm pretty sure that statue is meant to be a torture device/way to kill or punish slaves or other raiders. Kind of like the Brazen Bull. You put someone in the body of that thing, heat up the statue using flames, and then watch them slowly roast alive.

Funfact about the Pitt Raiders: A lot of their names are subtle references to local sites in Pittsburgh.
For example, Essie's Original Hotdog Shop in Oakland is referred to locally as "The O" and so they sell "O-Dogs."

As a Pittsburgher I find the name of the one Raider to be rather amusing. The Term "Red Up" is Pittsburghese for cleaning up an area. So a Raider named Reddup is a nice nod to the lingo. Would have been funnier if the signs pointing to downtown were spelled the way it's said with a true Yinzer accent. Dahntahn.
I turned on Werner because he never said anything about having to kidnap children. That for my merc character broke contract. That is how I justified my actions in the Pit.

Yes because we all know raider are known to leave survivors . Lets be honest, this is a game, that is why there are no child slaves. Realistically they would all be taken either for slaves, killed or turned into raiders themselves ( like child soldiers).

pittsburg in of itself is a seriously amazing city. I would love a full game with the steel mill pitt area as the center and the area's around it explorable. could be 20 years after fallout 3 so you can see the effects of ashurs rule.

Sure you're different, I took Marie so she wouldn't die after I killed all the raiders and slavers.
I came to free the slaves from a tyrant who causes untold misery upon the world. Whose raiders pillage and loot the wasteland and whose unceasing demand for labor has destroyed numerous settlements.
Once you consider the cure to be a secondary objective the moral quandary washes away.
The only question is do you support Ashur's plan to rebuild civilization on the backs of slavery, and raiding.

Hazmat Suits don't offer adequate protection from intense concentrated radiation. Water purification is more feasible, but too expensive to use on slaves. It's like President Eden said...
"Maybe you've got a makeshift purifier that cleans one glass of dirty water a day."
A glass a day is inadequate for one person, let alone an entire city, and I doubt water purifiers are very common. Even those Mr. Handies can only produce 5 purified waters a week. (I assume they have some sort of built-in dehumidifier.) Again, this is inadequate to quench the needs of even a single person.
There's just no way The Pitt could afford to hand out a commodity as valuable as purified water to slaves; not when they need it for their raiders.
Yeah or at least gas mask for those that need them for their jobs. IE welding and whatnot.

This was the choice that really fucked me over and reminded me of the story in New Vegas.
I decided to side with Ashur. Wernher lied to us about the cure and kept us in the dark, which makes me think he is just interested in gaining power.
Also I chose what was ultimately best for the people in the Pitt, Ashurs regime is extreme and brutal and yes the cure will take about 10 years to create but he is right. Thanks to him they are thriving despite the conditions, granted the enslavement thing is horrible but they have to do it otherwise there would be no one to work the mill because everyone would be dead anyway, he is pushing them to get things done and the Pitt is easily one of the most defendable places in the wasteland.
Also if Marie is given to the slaves they will likely care nothing for her happiness so long as they get their cure, they won't be as gentle as her mother would. Speaking of which Maries mother is a scientist and will get the cure out much faster than the slaves would ever do.
One more thing, if the baby is given to the slaves she might very well be killed once they have the cure as she is the daughter of the man who enslaves them. Sends shivers down my spine thinking of the unspeakable things they might do to her once they get the cure considering how long it will take to perfect and cure everyone, If there is one thing I have learned from your videos Ox the people of Fallout are fucking despicable.

The slavery servers nothing but to give him power, it doesn't advance the cure studies, it doesn't give the slaves any perspective of life. You save a baby but kill countless of innocent people. Just kidnap the baby, kill ashur because he clearly got corrupted with power, free the slaves, get everybody out, put a quarentine zone on the city, go to the followers of the apocalypse who have humanitarian ideology and better equipment that run down laboratory, make safe experiments, find a cure, cure the city, show it to the brotherhood of steel the cities potential, and create a better world. No need for raiding and indulging the practice, no need for slavery, no need for baby life hypocrisy when thousand are being killed crying for help losing everybody they love and turning into everything they hate for survival
Yeah but you forget that the FOA are on the other side of the wasteland, and you can't just say 'keep the city on Quarantine', Because apart from MAYBE Ashur, they wouldn't know about Quarantine. Ashur is ultimately the most morally upstanding choice in the LONG RUN, short no but long Yes. He may be a brutal Ruler, but he cares about the people in a strange way, and If you take Marie, you'd be as bad as Kellogg from FO4. The slaves would probably do horrible, horrible things to Marie to punish her for no fault of her own, and to try and cure themselves.

I remember playing this DLC and siding with the slaves and being absolutely horrified by what Werhner does with Marie. Ended up going back and siding with Ashur after hearing the audio logs. The Pitt was a great DLC thanks to the lack of black and white decisions.
I honestly still feel the Pitt's story was hamfisted as all hell. Plus, I'd honestly say to sacrifice the baby - the institution of slavery is far more horrific than what happens to the child.
Zee Captain I never expect too much from Bethesda in terms of story, but I find it more interesting than the easy good vs bad stuff they usually make.
The way I look at it, I doubt the slaves have any real chance of getting the cure. With Ashur I find it more likely that they'll get the results and eventually cure what ails the Pitt.
But they're just as likely for Ashur to never get the cure at all, honestly. Even with the so called 10 year estimation, it's an estimation and not a guarantee. Plus, those slaves are still going to remain slaves in the end regardles if cured or not. Do you really think the raiders, as savage as they are, are going to let them go when everyone is cured? The status quo will remain in tact to the very end of the institution itself and it will not be broken without a catastrophic change. Wernher is a liar, can't deny but he's still morally superior than Ashur - even if he's hurting an innocent baby in the end to save the slaves.
Zee Captain if he were to get a cure though, a working steel mill and a way to combat radiation could do some real good too. Though I suppose Ashur would need to prove that he'd free his workers or pay them for their jobs if he wants to show some sign of being good.

Now here's a thought, if Fallout 4 is 10yrs in the future of FO3, it's kind of a lost opportunity to not see the Pit again and see if they ever found a cure. If so, that would mean the raiders and people born there would, in the long run, inherit the Wasteland. Their immunity would mean they could settle in some of the harshest areas, freely eat irradiated food and drink filtered water that doesn't need the extra effort to purify of radiation. They're the only ones who can scavenge in the most irradiated of facilities like ghouls without the aid of suits and armors with limited thresholds of resistance. They could rival the Brotherhood if it means they can get a hold of lost technologies in those areas.
But it's only if they succeeded. I wanna see how they've faired

Mike Marks But there are different endings, like in my playthrough, the Institute hacked Liberty Prime then shot down the Prydwen. Also, I'm an Institute supporter, but the Brotherhood destroyed the Institute because Gen 3 synths were seen as abominations.

The reason Synths were seen as abominations was because to have a close friend or loved one replaced by billions of zeros and ones is quite terrifying. In the game, it is stated that the Institute worked peacefully with the Commonwealth until they started making Gen 3 Synths, scaring people that their brother may be a Synth. As evidenced by your first time in Diamond City.

This DLC is the most challenging morally, I mean look at Marie, What right do we have to kidnap her and kill her for a cure? It's not her fault that she was born the child of a Slaver person, and Ashaur himself is a bad man, but he wants best for his People, End of the day, I can't bring myself to kidnap and murder Marie

I'd trust a man with conviction than an opportunist any day. Marie will be the savior of the city and Ashur will spend his days making up for the evil he has condoned.
She's not murdered, Wernher even whines that they'd make more progress on the cure if everyone wasn't fussing over her. Don't see you crying for all the children who undoubtedly die because Ashur's raiders sack caravans towns and cart off their parents as slaves.

I sided with the slaves on my first run through The Pitt. Everytime after though, I sided with Ashur... Not cause I am evil, I can't play an evil character in any game I play. I can't bring myself to kidnap Marie, even if it means the slaves wait... They wait... I made sure to not tell the rat anything, I ended the one slaves suffering, I collected every ingot so no other slave had to go ingot hunting. What turned the tide for me was when I learned that Wherner (forgot how to spell his name) used to be an underling of Ashurs... Also the fact that without Marie's mother, or even Ashur, the cure will never be finished. They have the medical technology to run the tests for the best results, whereas if you kidnap her, what do Wherner and Midea have? Ramshackle shacks that have nothing in the way of clean, sterile testing environments for what they intend, as well as the fact neither of them treat Marie as a human, but mearly a thing to be used and discarded... I can't stand by that... Even if it kills me to see the slaves suffer, as I wholeheartedly damn the idea and practice of slavery... I can't do it to the parents, or to Marie...

I'm three years late, but yeah, for me Ashur's ending is the best ending. I usually also roleplay that my Lone Wanderer will come back and end Ashur if Ashur fails to uphold his end of the bargain. One way or another, those slaves WILL be free eventually.

Fallout 4 isn't as bad it just isn't at the same level as Fallout 3 and New Vegas.
@Oxhorn the statue in front of Haven looks like it is used as some sort of wickerman where they burn troublesome slaves alive. This also explains the fire and braided rope which would be used as fuel.
No matter how many times I played through this dlc I could never bring myself to kidnap the baby so it will be interesting to see the other ending.

Osborn the infiltrator is one of the best weapons it the game. It's just the infiltrator not the 'infiltrator smg' it also has a higher ammo capacity and is very accurate.
15:05 This is still pretty cool even for how old FO3 is, the brass casings flying out of the rifle…Not only that, they actually look like they are ejecting correctly out of the ejection port and with perfect timing. I love it!

Mad max fury road, Children of man and the game The last of us use the same concept and story theme of the pitt dlc all of them are good apocalyptic stories and original in there own way, very interesting.
The Statue is a Wicker Man, they make statues of metal and wood; put someone in the statue / cage; and set the statue on fire.
Only specific zones in the Pitt are TDC-active, so children born outside of the worst areas (like the rivers) are fine. It’s likely that 30 years ago less areas were TDC-active, meaning more children would survive.
I bought this game a few days ago but i won't start it until after finish New Vegas

I helped Asher because I liked the idea of in the future he and his raiders develop a cure safety from the kid and like he said, they won’t have to kidnap slaves anymore, they will be able to grow naturally. Thought that was cool
