You failed to mention that simply a high fiber diet, especially diets at or above 37 G of fiber daily, tend to eliminate blood glucose control issues in most people if they also minimize eating any kind of processed carbs or sugar in their diet.
Simply eliminating snacking on carbs in between meals and only eating carbs with a heavy protein and fiber, preferably carb meals before physical activity is planned, often eliminates diabetic issues for most pre-diabetics and people in the early stages of type 2 diabetes.

Since vegetables are also carbs… ofc not a licensed medical professional or anything, but I’ve seen videos where people talked about how they were not getting their resting metabolic (basal metabolic) needs met and they struggled to lose weight (which is supposed to help with pcos) because their body thought they were starving and ended up storing everything as fat. So maybe try what you’ve been doing with at least 2 meals a day? Hope you’ve been managing well! Good luck and take care!! 😁

    Inositol
at 1g doses, for me it started to affect slightly my mood
at 2g doses, my mood improved exponentially to the point of taking the 2g dose in a few days I was able to crawl out of a 18ish month long depression
4g feeling better, starting to feel the glucose drops if I take it without food
at larger doses 8g+ it starts to act like an anti-anxiety medication
at the dose I'm taking right now, 12g, for me the best is taken with food. My mood has completely stabilized... I'm still me, I'm still sober, but stuff barely affects me, does not throws me into bad moods, I feel friendlier and able to socialize a bit more.
I have a pretty bad Adult ADHD with some Autism-like symptoms... it HELPS A LOT specially in the higher doses, but it doesn't change you if you hope to wake up "adhd free".

Next morning the water will be very slimy. Strain the water in a glass, and this is what you drink. It helps with insulin I think but do some research. Don't throw away the chopped okras yet. Healthy green spinach and mixed green salad helps with the constipation side effect. If you don’t have sugar or a high white starchy food, you don’t need to take it. I’m a newbie so still trying things out. My go to that has helped is ceylon cinnamon (500 mg) and ALA (200 mg).

Berberine is NOT naturally found in turmeric. Berberine is a compound that is typically extracted from the roots and stems of various plants, such as the Berberis species (barberry), Chinese goldthread, and Oregon grape. It is commonly used as a dietary supplement due to its potential health benefits.

A major caveat for Berberine: It inhibits the action of several enzymes that metabolize prescription medications. I take medication to control my epilepsy, and taking Berberine could cause me to overdose from those medications as a result of increasing blood plasma levels. If you take prescription medications regularly, talk to your doctor before starting to take it - you may need to alter your dose or look for other options.

Type 1 diabetic since 1970. Berberine and metformin in my case seem to matter much less than diet. They seem not to hurt. Haven’t had side-effects that I’ve noticed. I do take B12 supplements. Carnivore diet seems to help more, much more. I’m trying 3 days a week on PSMF, on my doctor’s suggestion, and that’s definitely forced me to lower my doses of insulin not just on those days. I really dislike eating essentially nothing but protein three days a week, I admit.

Metformin works best for me slowly I'm trying to reduce it with keto etc. I tried just Bereberine for a few mths without metformin and my weight piled on again..I then tried Inositol but unfortunately the smallest amount makes me nauseous...I'm back on metformin only now all side effects have gone hopefully one day very soon I won't need it anymore..I had to quit coffee as well- as it was adding to increased adrenalin issue's which spiked up my glucose levels. It's been a long road to getting things right. Also my latest discovery Apple Cider Vinegar before meals I've noticed significant weight loss on my belly area since doing this been about three mths now.

I was taking metformin for 2 1/2 years. I got off of it about a week ago, and boy was I surprised at what it was causing me; my legs quit feeling tired, weak, sore and achy. My knees, back and shoulders stopped hurting. My stomach doesn't feel tight like a drum now. I felt mentally sharp again. My feet went from feeling numb to having feelings again. I no longer feel like I'm 90 years old and need a walker. All of this happened within 2 days of stopping the metformin.

I did go on a carnivore diet for a week but couldn’t keep it up due not being able to stay in front of the stove for long due to back pain. I tried it for 3 weeks. It’s like putting a bandaid on a burst pipe. For me anyway. I’d wake up with crazy highs…. But apparently there is 2 reasons why this would happen. 1) my blood sugar dropped too low… and produced a hormone to up the insulin… so I’d wake up with 160s… I troubleshootedthis to be the case by checking at night. I use OneTouch Reveal, Which has a ton of good insights tips and help to share with your doctor. Personally I plan to go though hard/all natural route, but find it worth it in my long term health after reading recalls and side effects.

I am not diabetic, nor is anyone in my family and now after I got off of the Met Forman a few months ago because I started developing strange symptoms like numbness in my hand & foot, as well as some other things and so she took me off the
Met Forman about 10 months ago. Those symptoms did resolve, but I had started another medication at the same time, and I stopped them both around the same time so I cannot say for sure. But today, I just found out I have prediabetes!!! So I’m wondering, can taking metformin by a non-diabetic cause you to develop pre-diabetes?

    • @HealthCoachKait
      @HealthCoachKait  ปีที่แล้ว

Metformin does not cause prediabetes, no. It was likely you had insulin resistance while taking metformin (insulin resistance starts up to 10 years before it progresses to prediabetes) and it was undiagnosed. Insulin resistance could be caught years earlier if doctors would only test fasting insulin! It is extremely frustrating...
