Great tool to use, even better is the tip about tapping the main shaft through which i had to do the other day to get at the race...great information!
Does tapping the Main shaft damage the bearing that’s pressed onto the shaft?

The race on my shaft had worked its way in so far that it damaged the seal. I had to grind little grooves on either side of the race to accommodate the puller edges and then heat up the race with a torch and pull it off. How could Harley have allowed such an oversight. it was a nightmare but I got it. Couldn't have done it without this video. Thanks for the help.
Patience. When things go wrong, Jim's has the right tool too ease the repair.
Your the man Kevin, I had the race walk in on a 98 Fatboy I'm working on and I loosened up the main shaft nut gently bumped the shaft over and was able to get the race off....thanks I greatly appreciate your videos and advice.

I just cut one off that had walked inward because I was too lazy to pull my exhaust open the tranny top cover flip the two levers pull the side cover unscrew the main shaft and push it to get it off with the tool. Was putting on the all balls race I could almost push it on with my fingers did not fit tight enough so I went with the s&s which has the collar to prevent it from moving inward which went on perfectly with the tool. So I'm running an s&s race with an all balls bearing. 250 bucks might get you a couple of washers from Jim's.

Hi Kevin, I have just removed the inner primary and the clutch . The problem is that the inner primary bearing race is spinning on the shaft , I was able to remove it with my fingers... The race comes from Drag speciality . My bike is 2011 Dyna . Did you ever see that issue and what should I do to resolve this issue. Buy a better brand ? Thank you very much , looking forward to read your response .

Hi Kevin, I've got a 2016 Road King and I'm about to change the inner primary bearing. I was looking at an S&S Improved Inner Primary Bearing Race (#: 560-0241) which has an ID bevel that rests against the main shaft to prevent movement. Does my bike have the shoulder on the main shaft that you mention meaning the S&S part would not be necessary? Thanks in advance

I inherited a 1990 electraglide ultraclassic that leaked like a sieve behind the inner primary cover so I watched some videos and bought some seals. When I went to install the seals, I noticed there wasn't a primary shaft main bearing race. Where would I find one? I have been doing a lot of searches and can't find it. thanks
Pro tip #2, you're not worried about damaging the side door bearings? Doesn't HD recommend replacing those bearings if the shaft is pressed out? Are you saying slighting taping on the shaft with a hammer doesn't do any damage?

hi i hope you can help me i have a 2006 dyna and after the bike heats up i get a false neutral light that comes on while riding no matter what gear im in i can get it to go off by touching the shift lever but it comes back on in a few minutes its fine while the bike is cold

@@gucci4871 never got a reply so i just replaced the neutral light sensor and changed the trans fluid just have to wait for some warmer weather to test it
