Balthazaar, Mert Aksac. No other player in the history of NMJ would have the courage to take the risks this guy is willing to take. We've all got a lot to learn from Key.
The 90 second rule, when you really think about it, is a top notch rule. It stops categories like the newspaper one from being too overbearing (ie, you could probably find any newspaper with any initials EVENTUALLY). Top notch respect of the rules, happy to see it reach a lawful conclusion.
As someone who, when you think about it, got some genuinely needed happiness out of this series during a really tough year, thanks Alex, Mark and Tim. Please keep going in 2021.
I can’t tell you how much I look forward to Fridays to watch 30mins of these brilliant people playing this brilliant game. Thank you for this little spark in an otherwise tough world right now
I was waiting for set 3 to come along one of these days, but Christmas specials?! I don't mind that, I don't mind that actually. Here's to hoping penelope pitstop joins us too. OVER!
When you have a really good old think about it, I mean a really good think... Watto perhaps displayed a measurable amount of contempt for Below the Line commentators before clenching his handful of sausage meat.
When I really sit down and think about it I can't believe how much I love watching these lads. Was just wondering what I would do after watching all the episodes... Christmas Specials, what a great surprise!
@@el10t right? I've heard "big if" a lot of times now and it's only gotten better. NMJ has quickly become comfort watching for me, which is weird really because if you think about it, they're just guys.
Mert Aksac, Actor: Film. Mert Aksac is an actor and assistant director, known for Film (2011). Actor: Film Torbaci (2011) Second Unit Director or Assistant Director: Film (2011)
As someone below the line, i'm a big festive fan of this. Christmas specialist Tim Key with the W. (also don't think a newspaper now out of business should count tbf)
Teaching my class that the name of our moon is 'The moon' reminded me of Key wondering what 'bang on' names of things there were... leading to a film named Film (& the legend of Mert). Anyone got any others?
Back to this episode after watching all five sets straight in a row, the origins of Mert Aksac are suitably delightful. “This will go down as the Mert Aksac game” - oh Tim, if only you knew…
"I'm not going to challenge, but you're really weird"
"I don't think so"
Balthazaar, Mert Aksac. No other player in the history of NMJ would have the courage to take the risks this guy is willing to take. We've all got a lot to learn from Key.
If you watched Key play, and did the exact opposite, you'd come away with a lesson in how not to awfully lose.
It's nice watching in retrospect and realising this really will go down in history as the Mert Akzak game
Alex, on overhearing his competitors predicting his 'basic' snack, invents some absolutely mental egg thing in a mug to prove them wrong
Oh, but his delicious egg dish is an old classic.
I mean, when you think about it, isn't it essentially just scrambled eggs just not very scrambled?
I think he has secretly been developing the "Eggy Pop" into a gourmet snack.
Didn't Suzy Dent refuse to eat it when he cooked it for her on 8 out of 10 cats?
@@simonlake_ Yep, he did something very similar there.
I absolutely love the fact that Willy the Whale and Greg Davies share a category 💀
22:10 The beginning of a golden age
Great to rediscover the Aksac discovery
At 10:10, we see the birth of a new Taskmaster task. Who knew that would pay off a full 11 months later?
Truly!!!
Also the chocolate dots Guz Khan has to get down his face must have come from the Bottlecap Games in Set 1/2.
21:20 The epic of Mert Aksac begins.
Hello up there to Tim Key from everyone below the line.
Apparently Mark Watson believes that your comments mean nothing. - (never meet your heros)
Hi bemmens, hi everyone below the line
@@timkey25 keep it up, key. Your set's coming mate
@@timkey25 Solid gold legend!
#TeamKey
As someone who resides quite comfortably below the line, I don't mind it.
The 90 second rule, when you really think about it, is a top notch rule. It stops categories like the newspaper one from being too overbearing (ie, you could probably find any newspaper with any initials EVENTUALLY). Top notch respect of the rules, happy to see it reach a lawful conclusion.
My drink nearly went everywhere when Watson asked "Oh, they're big buggers are they, whales?"
Sure, Watto lost the game. But his participation was absolutely on point. I didn’t mind the singing, at all.
“yeah rudolph’s a cow, famously”
“that’s the most insulting thing you’ve ever said to me”
love the bullying in this ep, great stuff guys
"I'm not gonna challenge, but you're really weird" 4:44 I feel like this is a good description of Mr Key
Horne: I have a new search method, beware!
Ten minutes later, does not find Jamaican Times after googling Jamaican newspapers.
Whenever they start talking about things named after what they are, I always remember that this is THE episode.
Benjamin Zehphaniah - Berliner Zeitung. Being German would really give you a huge advantage in the game, when you think about it.
How about B.Z.?
"I think there could be Japan Today" - Mark being better at making up real newspapers than Alex is at finding them.
Mert Christmas, everyone!
And a Aksac new year!
I really want to see an unedited version of one of these episodes one time.
You can now - someone uploaded all of the live games in their entireties.
As someone who, when you think about it, got some genuinely needed happiness out of this series during a really tough year, thanks Alex, Mark and Tim. Please keep going in 2021.
The world needs a "When you think about it, it's Christmas" Merch line.
With no exceptions
Or, for the Scrooges, No More Christmas
The world needs absolutely zero merch lines
This might be the best moment in Mert Aksac's career
Key drinking with his mouth open is an all time great moment of NMJ
10:42 was exactly what I needed this grim morning
The most expected and unexpected spit take I think I've ever seen. 😂
Three of comedy's finest grown adults.
Unironically, Tim’s Christmas jumper is fantastic.
I love how Mark seems so offended people thought he was cheating. I always believed in you Mark!
"Well I'm not gonna challenge, but you're really weird..."
Is this the origin of the "drink this drink without shutting your mouth" task?
that's what i thought! it must be!
I've gone and added Jamaican Times to Wikipedia to avoid this regretful situation in the future.
I can’t tell you how much I look forward to Fridays to watch 30mins of these brilliant people playing this brilliant game. Thank you for this little spark in an otherwise tough world right now

"I'm not going to challenge, but you're really weird." LOL
The episode that introduced, your friend and mine, Mert Aksac. And I don't mind it
This is easily the angriest Christmas special I’ve ever seen. I don't mind it.
When you have a really good old think about it, I mean a really good think... Watto perhaps displayed a measurable amount of contempt for Below the Line commentators before clenching his handful of sausage meat.
I don't mind it.
Really enjoyed that, though struggled to hear quite a lot as I've misplaced my telescope
Snow more jockeys!
You're welcome.
"Who do you get at Christmastime" is a future Christmas single people
Alex is always cute, but he’s especially cute in a Santa hat.
"Yeah, that's a crap snack from a tedious oaf" got me pretty good
“it’s a pretty good share if it’s just him”
Rewatching for Christmas 2022 and imagining playing no more people who've had covid as a category these days, you'd be laughed out of town
When I really sit down and think about it I can't believe how much I love watching these lads. Was just wondering what I would do after watching all the episodes... Christmas Specials, what a great surprise!
This show has been my favourite thing produced during coronavirus, I've watched through it all 5+ times.
Same here. The whole thing - from start to finish. It gets funnier with each viewing.
@@el10t right? I've heard "big if" a lot of times now and it's only gotten better. NMJ has quickly become comfort watching for me, which is weird really because if you think about it, they're just guys.
New rule: The person challenging is allowed to either do the search for their own challenge, or nominate the third party. Incredibly serious stuff.
Key's actually winning? STOP THE COUNT!!
The Maidenhead Advertiser! My old local paper! I was even in it once. Glad to see it getting a bit of fame on this prestigious show
nobody else notice Mark say "THE evening standard" when he made the newspaper rule? 6:39
"it's awful but it's lawful" - new life motto
A Watto Motto.
30:21 has me cackling and no one even addressed it
what possessed mark to speak like this
Merry Christmas above the line
It's the actor Mert Aksac! Don't mind meeting you! 😅
22:02 a legend is born
No more jockeys- the musical. It's got legs. Thanks boys that was pure joy ❤️⭐️
I for 1, when you really sit down and think about it, root for Tim!
For anyone who has seen The Queens Gambit - look at the reflection in Key's mirror!
It has to be said that the quality of christmas jumper really reflects the quality of christmas competitor.
No one:
My brain: Mert AKSAC
The birth of mert aksac
When you think about it, it's possibe to find a newspapaper for any name, so time limitation seems like a good option.
i am SO excited for this
Woah, THE Mert Aksac?
What a fabulous start to this wonderful Christmas treat! Thanks lads!
A wonderful Christmas surprise. A really fun episode. Congrats from below the line
As someone who is below the line I feel very represented in this episode
Oh, so cute with the jolly jumpers!
So excited for this!! Jumper game on point too lads
THE MERT AKSAC GAME!
Key with the absolute bit between his teeth here, masterful luring.
When you think about it, that was an excellent game of No More Jockeys. Well played Key.
And thus, the legend of Mert Aksac was born
Great energy from Mark Watson in the Mert Aksac game!
Merry Christmas, above the line!
From below the line, when you think about it, the best episode yet
You're all super lovely and amazing and I hope you all have fantastic and beautiful Christmases
"All roads lead back to Pauline Quirke."
This is one of the funniest things I've seen today, and this morning I googled the twist in Wild Mountain Thyme
Good to see this festive field day going on
key winning has restored my christmas spirit
I just ADORE these guys to pieces 💝💝💝
Woah, Alex made a fancy version of the eggy pop!
One of my favourite games in a while!
Retribution!!! Marvellous game, thanks you chaps for the joy you bring, merry Christmas and long may it continue 🎄🎁🎅🙏
Yes you legends! Was hoping for a few festive episodes👍
Come to think of it, that was my favourite episode yet.
I’ve never met a person called Person,, but i have met a guy called Guy
My cup of parlour game overflows with happiness that's there a new episode. x
a Christmas miracle !!

Brilliant. One of my favs this one.
21:38 this makes me want to listen to 'The Band' by The Band again - 10/10 album
Back to this episode after watching all five sets straight in a row, the origins of Mert Aksac are suitably delightful. “This will go down as the Mert Aksac game” - oh Tim, if only you knew…
I'm over the moon - I was just sitting here contemplating my life choices and this popped up to distract me. Merry Christmas Everybody!
@Barnacle Felcher Actually, seeing Key try to drink that tea without shutting his mouth has made be feel a bit better about everything.
Best. Episode. Yet.
Stay Another Day is definitely a Christmas song.
I'm the cashew boy, let's go.
"How does haiminh choose what goes in?" Well, if you mention him, he clearly puts it in.
I’m really happy with it.
