  • Chopin's ballades are some of the greatest piano music ever written. But not just greatest, but also some of the hardest. In this video I'll take you through some of the aspects that make them so challenging. If you enjoy is hitting that like button is a great way to help the video reach more people.
    Thanks for watching!

I love Chopin, because he never scary me with his pieces. Any piece is easy to me...❤

Hey, you can never go wrong if Chopin is your favorite composer. What are your top pieces by him that you love to play?

Really like this video. For me Chopin is first the king of melody, No need to have thorough musical education to fall in love with his music. You showed us new aspects of Chopin as genius and the challenge to express it out. Love to hear more of you and to listen to you playing!! Bravo!!!

Thanks so much. I had a lot of fun making the video and I'm glad you enjoyed it. It was a lot of work 🤣
Yes, we think of Chopin as the melody guy, but his chords and technical difficulty are amazing too. I'd love to do more of this type of thing, but where I look at a particular piece. Then I could play more and dive into it deeper.
Thanks again for checking it out. Do you play piano?

Chopin's Ballades are some of my favorite pieces of music, especially Ballade No.1. I am a piano player, so hopefully I'll be able to learn these eventually.

Nice, the 1st ballade is my favorite too, as you can probably tell by my musical examples today 😀

chopins my favorite. im trying to perform all 4 of the ballades. i performed no 1 and im working on n 4 rn and im on the climax of the piece near the coda. im very close. ballade n 4 is one of the most challenging pieces ive ever came across with as a pianist.

Good for you. Of the 4 ballades the 1st one is the only one I've studied/performed, I've only messed around with the other 3. They are extremely challenging. It's tough to rank difficultly across composers, but certainly up there considering how challenging they are to pull off musically. I find a complete challenging Beethoven sonata to be slightly harder, depending on the level of detail you study the Beethoven. But yeah, at this point it's like arguing over whether the ancient Egyptians or ancient Chinese civs were better...idk...both incredible.

These sorts of pieces are why I’ve avoided chopin like the plague for 8 years

Haha, thankfully it's not all this hard, but Chopin does proportionally have quite a bit of challenging music. Someone else left a comment on a video a month ago asking me a "easiest Chopin pieces" video for this very reason. Still something I'd love to do in the future.

Great video. After 30 years, I have finally learned the ballade 1. Not perfect but I enjoy playing it. Now I am working on #2. When will you be doing the scherzo's?

How can you have a expensive grand piano and not tuning it regularly? Isn’t that a death sentence for its value and longevity?

    • @ryanabshier
      @ryanabshier  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@hizilop6541 Hey man, those tunings add up 🤣 No, but in reality a couple of things. Recordings bring out the out of tune notes more. I actually do tune it a couple times a year, but humidity here is nuts and it can lose tune quickly. And it's a teaching piano, so heavy use.
But mostly, it's actually not terribly expensive. It actually cost me less than a Yamaha P 525 keyboard. It was used and it had a few issues that I've repaired. It doesn't hold tune the best.
But yeah I'm with you, if in the future I ever got a nice grand, I'd probably spend more money on humidity control and more professional maintenance.

What about Scherzos???? What about his Fantasie in F Minor Op 49 and Polonaise-Fantaisie Op 61???? Are they even harder than the Ballades????

Most of Chopin's pieces are amazing. Whether they are his most difficult or simpler pieces, they are all very worthwhile to play and to listen to. But please, Ryan, do not call them Songs!!!
