Another highlight from perhaps the second "golden age" of television. WNEW in New York had an incredible lineup of childrens shows that adults could also enjoy.Besides Soupy, you had Sandy Becker,Chuck McCann,Paul Winchell, and on Saturdays, the great Sonny Fox hosting "Wonderama". Great memories!
FUN FACT: Soupy Sales was a backup drummer for the Hermit Hermit's on their 1964 American tour. Soupy was also known for bowling. Soupy had a 266 bowling average. Soupy could drink a 12 ounce beer while standing on his head in under 4 seconds.
They should show Supy Sales reruns on a network like Nickelodeon or Disney Channel, because a lot of kids today don’t have an entertainer who is in the same league as Soupy, that’s for sure.
Soupy wasn't kidding..if that scene with the naked girl..behind the front door of Soupy's house set..had gone on the full network? He would been fired and thrown into jail and sued. Luckily for him and for the viewers..only the crew and his comedy asistant and puppeteer:Clyde Adler saw the name girl at the front door.
My favorite memory of this guy is the end of his show, he told kids to sneak into mommy and daddy's bedroom and take all the money out of wallets. A few days later it was in the news how some kids actually did just that. Parents raising hell. This guy feeling a funny was not funny.
Tom Snyder show....actually showed what Soupy was looking at when Soupy was a guest on Tom's show. ( A half naked girl with tassels on her breasts dancing)
Fred Roger’s couldn’t stand Soupy or Pinky Lee because he thought they were just going for the fast laugh and weren’t doing anything for children. Fred was right
Tv bloopers and practical jokes
Good time for a pie 😂, classic I was very young
I loved this show
I love Soupy Sales ❤️
Seen this as a kid, that song " The Stripper " by D. Rose playing was pure genius for the gag, .
David Rose composed music for Little House on the Prairie. Even The Stripper was heard on that show.
He stayed in the door for a while.
I have this on a vcr tape,,,,uncensored.
Yeah,,it is ,it does,,
That was from TV's Bloopers and Practical Jokes. I have seen it when it originally aired.

He was also a test driver for Uniroyal who helped with the development of the famous "Tiger Paw" tire.
He also appeared in two episodes of "The Rebel" in 1960. These were his first two acting roles.
I don't know about a 266 average. 😳 I think the record for pros is 261. I'm not an expert tho 😀
His kid is a drummer en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hunt_Sales
He also beat Chuck Norris in an arm wrestling contest.

JLTV shows reruns of both shows.
Worked at a local tv station back then. Dont know how or why but we had an uncensoed version of that.
I've seen the uncensored version on a old VHS blooper reel.

I, I,I, don’t like, talking chairs 🪑
If TH-cam is going to censor the video, why show it at all?
They don't make those real comedy shows like they use too.

I would say that Soupy was not aiming at the kindergartners and under like Roger’s was!
It did a LOT for me in the late 1950s- most fun thing EVER on the book tube!
