    I vote for the Equinox in the good looks category. The Equinox is by far a better looking vehicle than most suv vehicles. The ID4 is a good looking vehicle also. I am extremely pleased with my Equinox EV. I really love the Google based system.

    The Equinox EV looks better overall to me. And at least, it has a heat pump build-in that is not an option for $1,500...

    Good comparison. I have an ID.4 and I love it, I drove an Equinox EV, it was fine, but if I had to pick again I’d still pick the ID.4. More quick/consistent DC charging, more efficient, faster, better turning circle, more room, and last but not least, CARPLAY!!

    As a 2023 ID4 Pro S AWD owner, the panic button on the FOB is a pain in the ass. Over the last 15 months, it has probably happened about a half a dozen times to me and to my wife individually as well.
    Otherwise, we've loved our ID4. Tows much more than the Equinox as well, does 2,700 lbs braked. We tow our tent trailer with a vertical mtn bike rack at the back (aka, a giant air brake), and still can do about 200kms in between charging stops on our long distance towing trips.

    Equinox blows away the Volkswagen in the looks department. I’m so glad that the Chevy isn’t stuck with matte black cheap plastic trim around the wheels and rocker panels. It’s about time the auto markers started painting that stuff again. The Equinox just looks a lot sportier and more expensive as well. Definitely on my shortlist for my next car.

    We have both the 2024 VW Pro S and the 2024 Chevy Equinox 2LT.
    The Equinox seems to have a smoother ride, almost as smooth as our old 2022 EV6 we sold to a friend.
    Still too early to compare other features.
    The ID4 has a more refined interior. And a beautiful moonroof with retractable sunscreen. It is a Pro S, so more expensive for sure.

    Very nice review, but I don’t think speed bumps are the best way to judge the ride quality of a vehicle. I’m more interested in how does it take broken pavement and patches and normal road imperfections or how does it ride on a concrete road that’s in less than stellar condition?

  • @schlickit628

    By far my favorite feature of the id.4 is the travel assist (aka, autopilot). It really works well on the highway, and takes a lot of the fatigue out of long commutes. You don't realize how many micro-adjustments you make while driving until you don't have to.

  • @nimbusspacewagon
    @nimbusspacewagon หลายเดือนก่อน +5

    Thanks. This was exactly the comparison I was looking for. These are the two I am weighing up. The Chevy looks great inside, I love the dash displays, but the ID4 seems to have better drive capabilities and is a little more refined as an EV product.
    Super hard choice.
    Is the front wheel Chevy noticeably less response than the ID4's Rear wheel?

    Good video, i am looking to purchase my first EV the end of 24 or early 25 and these are at the top of my list. 2 issues i hope you clarify in future videos. First, your concerns with the Equinox is about charging SPEED being inconsistent. Second, the EPA range figure are based on a COMBINED City/Highway driving cycle. Edmunds replicates this COMBINED test to verify EPA range figures. Please just clarify that your 70 MPH test only reflect Highway range but cannot be compared to the EPA cycle.

    Have the 21 Pro S. I think besides the software issue, the car is great for sure. It's not like full on plastic like Ioniq5. I like the soft touch plastics on the ID4 for sure. Just the infotainment part comparing to the Bolt EUV that I also have, I prefer that over the ID4

    I have ID4 Pro, which I loved driving 22,000 miles in 1st year. This year I bought Ford Lightning for better road-trip experience. Plug & Charge works with Ford on Tesla, but it bills through Ford without Tesla Membership discount. You have to use app to get discount. I too bought the Lectron adapter, which got stuck on Tesla Supercharger. Lectron replaced it immediately.

      Interesting, we're ID4 owners as well, and also considering the '24 lightning as a second vehicle. To tow bigger things, and for the tesla supercharger access. Also got a Lectron adapter for the ID4 for destination chargers, good to know they stand behind their products.

    For me the ID 4 loses with the lack of a heat pump and the asinine controls inside. It has the 3 switch window, touch sensitive controls on the steering wheel and slider controls below the screen. I much prefer the traditional buttons and knobs on the Equinox. If it’s horsepower you are after you might want the ID4. My girlfriend was in a friend’s ID 4 and the only thing she cared about was the massaging seats. I’d wait for the 2025 Equinox to get the heads up display and a small bump in horsepower to 300 in the AWD.

    • @Demobot1
      @Demobot1 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Just for nuance, I bought a 2024 ID.4 because my 3 little ones fit comfortably in the back seats. The 3 button window switches don't bother me at all. If I need the rear windows rolled down the kids can do it. Plus I don't have to fumble around looking for the right switch in case I do have to roll a window down. Now I'm Canadian so I get a heat pump. Not to mention the range and charging curve is very good. Cargo space only falls behind the Model Y. I love the barely tinted glass roof and I'm looking forward to trying out the heated windshield in the winter. I also looking forward to taking it in a 300km road trip next summer. I might put it up on TH-cam. But yeah.

    On my RS2 Equinox EV the handle can be opened by pressing in on the opposite side of the handle from where is connects to the door. That pops the handle open so you don't need to use the key fob. I assume this works the same on all models but I don't know.

    Does the Equinox come with a regeneration paddle at the steering wheel as in the Bolt? I found that to be a preference for my driving style as opposed to one pedal driving. I didn’t like it in the Bolt as it felt too aggressive. I now have an ID.4 and very comfortable with its less aggressive ‘B’ mode. If you drive less aggressively you will find the ‘B’ mode a great option. I normally get 4 miles to a KWH as well! 😊

    • @DAVIDTATLITUG
      @DAVIDTATLITUG 22 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Yes ipedal and the paddle on the steering wheel. True ipedal which VW doesn't have is supposed to stop you, not slow you only. Id4 loses when it comes to ipedal.

    I have both cars. Only the id4 pro and pro S have received the new software and the larger screen. The transmission selector was moved to the stalk because of complaints but I liked it where it was. The Equinox stock is a pain as it makes the wiper switch be on the left but it's a separate switch for front and rear. The id4 has a much better field of vision. Equinox rear window is too small and no digital mirror is available. Lane keep assist in the equinox is horrible. It does not center the car and it will not hold you in your lane. The id4 is much better with lane keeping but it disengages without warning and so does the equinox. What is far better on the Equinox EV is the HVAC system and it has ipedal with 3 selections. It will stop the car without you having to apply brakes. Works great.
    Price price price. The equinox has software issues but it's new. This will change. Price wise you get more for the money with Equinox. Lease deals especially more than 200 bucks a month less than the pros id4. You can lease an equinox for 250.00 a month for 24 months or less depending on options. Can't beat it.
    Now the 2025 equinox will have a larger motor and a few tweaks. Both cars qualify for the 7500.00 instant rebate based on your income.

    I tried the equinox and one small design detail, which could have easily been avoided, ABSOLUTELY killed the experience for me. The "grill" texture on the top of the dash produced an incredibly annoying and distracting reflection on the windshield. On the car I tried it was light colored which made it even worse. WHO DESIGNED THIS?!

  • @barryw9473

    I think it's interesting people are still taking Supercharger access "coming soon" for granted. Tesla sales are falling along with their market share. When would you be using adaptive cruise and thus lane centering on a road that is NOT mapped for supercruise? I don't think people use adaptive cruise for around town driving. It would be pointless.

    • @theaverageev
      @theaverageev  3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I literally almost always have adaptive cruise on. I drive lots of roads that are 45-60 every day. Local roads, but still worthy of adaptive cruise. Lane centering is a must in my opinion.
