This is expensive but still a really nice car for the money. Dual zone climate. Head and vented seats. Rear cupholders. Power liftgate. Big Sunroof. Decent quality. Blind spot monitoring and many other safety features. It is like a GM Prius but better. I think that car doesn't really need a 7k tax credit. A top trim camry is 44k and has similar features to this. The thing is that a camry will scream when you are climbing a big hill going on to the highway- this EV will be mostly silent. Sure, resale value might be junk and it 10 years this will be sitting in a junkyark (or we will get another cash for clunker program) but if you just need a nice car for life this is great. I don't like GM and their 1.2 Turbo but you can't disagree with the fact that they are doing great things for the cost. Value is great- almost as good as a used Lexus. I have spent hours scoring cars. Our family owns a 2014 Lexus RX 350. Great car. 163k miles and drives like new. It has features that modern cars don't (like an outdated navigation). We paid 15k for it (it had 157k miles then). It has had a fog lamp fall out (currently resting on some plastic and melting it) and needed the keyfob worked on (remote start) but it is a great car considering it is 10 years old and about a fourth of the price of a modern new car. Our 2016 Buick LaCrosse is also a great car. It is lacking a lot of safety features and doesn't support any form of navigation but it has things that a top trim 2024 Buick Avenir doesn't have. To be fair an Envista tops out at 31k and we bought the LaCrosse for 35k 8 years ago. It has a power passanger seat unlike the 2024. If you got a top of the line LaCrosse you were getting a true luxury vehicle. Rear power sunshade... v6 that makes 304 HP... 4 way lumbar... HUD... some of the greatest ambient lighting for a car of the time... leather wraped volume knobs... etc. The only benefit of buying a new car compared to a well taken care of used car is that you are getting a warranty. A used car can be nicer and for much less money. You are getting a lot from this car for 47k or low 40's with the tax credit... but you could also buy a low mile 2022 Avalon for half the price with similar features or even an 8 year old Buick with more features. GM is killing it with value but nothing will beat buying a used car.

you got to experience some old Detroit driving going on😅😅😅 The view over there on E Jefferson in Grosse Pointe is really nice. I take that way home from work sometimes
Lost me on needing a subscription + no android auto/carplay. Guess they need to make up for their losses somewhere by nickel and diming their users and propriety nonsense.
You're mostly only paying for the data lol. Their main reason seems to be to have more access to user data for their own research/features of the car. It's dumb but oh well
Pulsar and Honda are using the Chevrolet Blazer platform.
I just bought my Bolt EUV last year brand new, so I plan on keeping it for hopefully at least another ten years. I really like having CarPlay, hopefully it’ll be an option again in GM cars in the future, but I'm sure I can get used to not having it again. My Bolt was my first CarPlay car.
Please 40k cars are in no way entry level, even if the car industry wants you to think so. If the 2lt with the large range was available for 24k before subsidies it would be entry level today.
The lower trim will be mid to high 20s after tax credit
@@TedwardDrivesif they ever release it or don't choose to raise the price.
3:40 dang, that's bigger wheels that 10yo 5 series, and the cost of those tyres can be eye watering, given that this is a relatively inexpensive car. Wish they've stopped doing this.
they would also improve the ride quality too
They should have cut the wheel size to 19”, which would improve fuel economy and free up $$ to put a damn 250KW charger onboard.
I wish auto reviewers would stop claiming this is an affordable entry level EV. The bolt was under 20K after the tax incentive. 35K is not a comparable replacement for that.
Prologue is like 60k. This is pretty reasonable with more range
@@TedwardDrives 1 wrong doesn't make the other wrong right.
When you look at buying no gas and modest electricity costs, it is more of an affordable car on a monthly basis. So there's that to consider.
@@billbush1270yeah, but to be honest, it’s harder to be accepted on the credit check. Also, people fail to realize that while the majority of the charges will be at home, you’ll have to use fast charge on trips and will « forget » to take that into account. It’s a non issue for most, but still…
I’m by far not the customer for these, but selling a car in 2024 with no Apple car play is wild and instant deal breaker. Curious though, if this system just acts as essentially as an android phone with maps etc. built in directly (which could work well from a users perspective in lieu of CarPlay/And. Auto), is GM making you pay a monthly subscription to maintain all the functionality? That would be even more stingy and disgusting imo, especially considering the target consumer for these vehicles.
no it works mostly like an android, but i doubt they are going to update the os apart from firmware updates. google maps is a huge plus though, and honestly with that you dont need carplay at all
GM wants your money and your data.
In China this car give customer 60G/year free mobile data package and all apps are free forever, it's pretty good for a PHEV car only sell $20000.00 ,Maybe it's same in US
@@shuhaofan4865 China has the cheaper less energy dense battery than the US market. The car is fully BEV not PHEV in both markets. Also, SAIC in China sets the price not GM. SAIC does not warranty the car so you gamble when you drive off the lot.
@@kelviskelvis7140 Equinox 2024 in China have two version: PHEV and EV ,no Fuel vehicle version anymore ,It's not a good news for me; SGM give the warranty (3 years or 100000.00km) as Chinese gov request. Actually it's a very good price but I guess it will sale worse, here in China most young people believe only Chinese EV or PHEV vehicle has the best technology and cheaper especially BYD with awful chassis.
I took our old jeep out of gear (manual) and it crashed back into a tree. I was 3 or 4, left un-attented in the vehicle for a few minutes. The parking brake was not set and I got it out of gear and it coasted back into a tree. We still have the jeep and it is still missing its rear window.
they never wanted you to forget haha
@@TedwardDrives It has been sitting in the garage for lots of years. We used it for driving in the woods. The whole thing is a rust bucket and so we have a new rear end that needs put into it. I think that electric cars should maybe have a power button....
Zdx should have that screen and cameras
We have the ICE version and like it. Comfortable and quiet.
I feel so confused why people are so against not having AA/AC
Beyond the possible shit they may try to pull, agreed. But I've never had a car with that shit so I'm not the target.
@ElliWoelfin I have, all my cars the psst 6 years have had it, I just use Google maps so idrc if it's gone
Why are people so obsessed with frunks lmao. Id rather have my vehicle powertrain accessible for repairs
Because you can put small camera bags, laptops, etc there as well as a few grocery bags and they don't "roll around" the inside of your car. In other words, I can drive fast after grocery shopping!
Value play = still 40k+. The real value play will be the new Bolt next year.
Base will be around 27k after tax credit. Pretty sweet
The 1LT will be under 30k with the instant rax credit.
For all the excuses people are making for why these don’t have CarPlay or Android Auto, Honda/Acura is using essentially the exact same platform and have CarPlay and AA.
Great statements in this video about EVs. Noone need a 0-60 in 4.5 seconds. If everyone on the road had this it would be horrible with all the bad drivers.
Currentky in a Volvo wirh Android Automotive and have only used carplay once. It works extremely well and has all services you want.
Agreed but also the cost to put a more powerful and still relatively efficient motor could not have been that much tbh
That horrible reflection we see around @10:07 ... Is that because of the cameraor does the driver see that as well?
nobody:
absolutely nobody:
Tedward: “I love an 8 second 0-60.”
The general population should not be in cars with 800hp 😆. This is good for the world
How come this (3RS) is for $45k, while I was at the dealership in Seattle just yesterday to tell me that the 2LT (not even 2RS) is for $45k?!?!?! And that 2LT did not have half the extra options this 3RS has. I am so confused about this tbh. Any explanation?!
Check the website...it lists all the prices.
There is so much glare from the dashboard holy hell that looks annoying....
The first EV I really like it !
I am really tempted to buy this EV because I am sick and tired of having to pay high gas prices for my hybrid. But I'm concerned of the Chevrolet brand. I've been warned many times of the poor quality and constant breakdowns that are associated with American cars.
I don't mind having to pay a bit more but I do mind having to bring my car in for repairs every other month. Time is money, right?
Your thoughts?
GM has built excellent reliable cars and also some really unreliable pieces of junk. It's too early to tell if this will be the former or the latter.
@@phik EXACTLY!!! That’s why I have always been a “tech laggy” because I like to let others test the waters first before I jump in.

I like you video review
I think the pricing you keep referring to is way off.. the 2rs AWD with super cruise is 50K
The only thing keeping me away from the Equinox EV is the funky electric door handles which will fail!!! No Apple CarPlay is a joke done just to limit EV sales as they cost too much to build and have no profit yet! Otherwise Chevy would go broke building them!
No car play blows ass! Probably a deal breaker for me. A used Mach E GT kind of calling my name.
Really hope GM will come back to Europe (especially Nordic) with it's ev,s.😮 Would 1000% rather have a US car then Chinese!!
Bolt is only 170 inch long in the longest variant. The new Equinox EV is 190 inch long. Equinox EV is much much bigger.
i find it funny this "econo" car has a full display, meanwhiles some of the silverado trims still have that rinky dink 5in screen froom 2008
How is this going to compete with the Model Y at this price point even with the rebate?
The only thing I hate about it is the name. Why did they call it the "Equinox". We all know what a Chevy "Equinox" is, at least we did until now. This is something new and completely different from an "Equinox". Give it a new name. If you want to recycle an historic GM model name, there are plenty available that are way more prestigious than "Equinox". How about "Beretta"? Maybe "Nova"?
Subscription? Nope, I’m out
That's a great point on children being able to put the car in drive.
No CarPlay is a HUGE miss and deal breaker for some. Too bad Chevys are giant data mines for Google these days. Would be a cool car otherwise
GM and Ford are stuck on the SUV and Truck thing. It's not much you can do with a FAT SUV or Truck in terms of looks. Tesla and the Chinese have sedans, sport cars and luxury vehicles 👈🏾
Disappointing that it doesn't have CarPlay. Otherwise, a great looking vehicle.
Why y’all hating I just bought it and it is the better than a Tesla so that’s a win🤷
I just wish it didn't have that Blue or Red accents
Hi tedward, could you maybe do a Pov Review on the new gen of the Honda Fit, it's a pretty interesting car for what it is
We don’t have a new gen fit in US. What country are you in?
@@TedwardDrives the Netherlands I drive the 2021 version (pre facelift from the current gen iirc) I imported it from Germany since it was cheaper then buying it locally. Also it's a shame that you guys don't have the new fit, I have been enjoying it alot. I have put 3500 miles on it and it's been a pretty cool car and the mpg is great for being a hybrid with an 4 cyl, been averaging 58mpg (my previous daily was 35mpg) so it saves me a lot of money and how much I'm at the gas station 😁
why are there infrared leds in the steering wheel?
They illuminate the drivers face so the camera can track their eyes in any lighting conditions.
The supercruise feature needs them.
Oh lord these things are gonna sell like hot cakes 🥴
$44k for the current cheapest model, the FWD 2LT, is hardly a bargain when you can get a Model Y LR RWD for the same price with way more features.
Starts at 41,900 not 44. And another cheaper model is on the way. You can also knock 7500 off the price for tax credit.
@@TedwardDrives You are still financing a $42k car.
Build quality on this is significantly better than any Tesla
@@TedwardDrives Same tax credit avaliable on the Tesla, so the MY LR is 3k more and is fully loaded with features, hard to beat that value, still think it is great that this is a new option however
@@anton_grahn Purchase FSD adds $10k+ to the amount you finance. I would also worry about those 4680 batteries in the 2023 model - they seem to be forgotten about by tesla.
No CarPlay is absolutely a dealbreaker
It's a car, man! The hell with all that electronic crap.
Wish they would make a wagon EV
RWD Wagon with 400hp would be pretty sweet
I can see swapping a FWD wagon would be reasonably easy, makes use of an old body to keep it on the road longer I guess.
I really like this car EXCEPT for the no CarPlay choice GM made. Cellular technology lifecycle is way shorter everything else in the car. Why build something into the car that will be obsolete so long before the car’s useful life? I won’t pay a subscription for something that my phone can already do.
To think that this car is only 5k cheaper than a model Y performance my biggest question is why would anyone get this over a Tesla?
Elon Musk
Service centers
Replacement parts
@@Jaymac933 we have very different experiences with GM. I am still waiting on a thermostat for my 2023 trailblazer since I got the car under 20k miles I’m now at 65k miles on that. My tesla has had repair parts needed but they usually have came within the week and tesla drives out to me for free to install that, and the one time I had to go there they gave me a Model S while waiting for my Model 3 which Chevy has never but of course they have salesman to try and get me into a new car. This is just my experience I know everyone is different but this is how it is for a lot of people when comparing companies like this. Now the Elon musk thing is blown out of proportion no one ever complains and boycotts companies like Apple, Samsung, and amazon for doing crazy things to employees and using slave labor for production but Elon says one thing bad on twitter and the world stops 😂
Model Y has an ugly interior. The Chevy looks and feels like a premium car in comparison.
Plus, who wants to be sent through a windshield?
Not I!!
The bolt will me making a comeback
How much is GM losing on each car
I thought the bottle cap was a gear knob
Kinda ugly looking but the tech is good. Slap a third party carplay mirror over the rear view mirror and you’re golden.
carplay and android auto is becoming overrated. apple/google filled a part in the market that was lacking and now that manufacturers are improving their software, it's just not necessary
Wait you can’t use apple car play?
Nope.
@@TedwardDrives damn that sucks, I got the trax earlier this year which I love. I wish I knew about this before dropping down on the trax. Never had a ev tho. It just sucks no apple car playyyy
Greetings from Europe and I am asking Chevy to sell this electric car here too! :-)
Yeah, I still want to put/turn a key (fob) into an “ignition” slot (6:15) … it prevents potential theft as well as your child scenario
How does it look good?!
Thats subjective. I think it's pretty sleek and clever. But some people hate Porsche's so I can't speak for anyone but myself.
Interior looks better than new Mercedes XD
This road noise is driving me nuts otherwise this is an attractive car. American manufacturing has a huge opportunity and hopefully it isn’t too late for these companies to take over the ev market in America.
the "road noise" is actually just the mics picking everything up. it's much quieter than the review makes it out to be. happens in most car reviews.
A new Impala done right could make a come back. Have an available bench seat and a left to right speedometer like the upcoming scout.
This car will make Elmo the Musk nervous.
I like sitting up high. It's safer. And more comfortable for the legs.
Is this the platform honda used? If they make an inexpensive ev, i might trade my civic, lol.
Prologue is based on Blazer size but I think overall it's similar but smaller. I haven't dug too far into the difference in architecture between equinox and blazer.
1LT will probably be 35k, then get marked up to the moon.
No Apple CarPlay No dice No thank you. Decent car though
How does the Model 3 compare to this in terms of price in the USA?
As far as im aware, the charging experience in the Tesla including the speed and planning of charging stops is by far the best and the overall infotainment is among the top. The facelifted model 3 is supposedly better in some ways with double paned windows and suspension upgrades, but in terms of interior I would take this one every day of the week and im sure many people prefer the more standard car look with physical buttons, instead of the model 3 minimalst design, too.
I'd have to see a 1000km challange from Bjorn Nyland to really see how the battery system performs

The Chevy Bolt isn't dead, they're just revamping it.
It’s coming back but if you miss model years it’s dead. You cannot buy a new bolt right now.
The actual purchase price in the U.S. is very low. In Korea, based on the 3RS model, the actual purchase price for this year seems to be about $32,000. I can't deny that it's an electric car with the largest space for the price
Uber and Lyft drivers are gonna be all over this one
Well I waited forever for this vehicle to show up on sale, so I gave up on Chevy and got a Tesla. I am happy with my choice and the features Tesla provides. Chevy you lose a customer.

8 seconds? And not bad? A Corolla accretes faster! Yea 8 sec compared to a diesel semi is not bad at all lmao
GM's electric offerings are simply more inefficient than something like Tesla's. Longer charging times for the same range.
Much less expensive than Tesla
Nicer interior than a Tesla.
That's RAV4 Prime money for a GM. Makes no sense.
This car is made in China or made in USA ?
The Bolt is coming back next year, at the expense of Malibu
I'll be shameless in saying good riddance to Malibu. It'll be interesting to see how Bolt fits into this lineup. Equinox and Blazer are already incredibly similar.
@@TedwardDrives I wish they would at least replace it with another car, potentially even an EV one.
Malibu/impala is the hood classic. Surprised they are getting rid of it.
another nail in teslas coffin.
Used Equinox EV for under $20K coming soon as owners realize that the EV's battery range is a joke at 85 mph driving from Los Angeles to Las Vegas
The good news Baker which is about 100 miles from Las Vegas has 2 fast chargers
The bad news Baker is not the place you want to be at nighttime trapped for an hour while your Equinox charges
My Ford Mustang Mach E got nowhere near the 300-mile battery range that they advertise
Driving at 85 plus miles per hour, which is normal on the 15 freeway to Las Vegas is a battery range killer
Please be warned before you buy/lease
