Thanks for this. Buyers should know that normal Ninja Foodi's do not have the "Steam Crisp" function. So far as I can tell only the Smart Lid and Speedi have it, and for me that is a huge deal. Its like having a tremendously flexible programmable convection/steam/broil oven, its the killer app that makes the Speedi so great. I do not know if the Smart lid has as many steam + bake/crisp/broil options, but it is that combo that makes it so easy to make full meals with very little effort. The Speedi, because of its rack design, is also a lot easier for me to clean than my Foodi. My cleaning time is cut in half vs cooking on a stove or with a Foodi Wired rack. If you love to cook, I can see how the Smart Lid Foodi gives you more options, but if you are looking for ways to simplify and speed things up, the Speedi is a lot better for that. I have used the Speedi nearly every day since I got it, and the Foodi sits on the shelf.
Okay, but do you miss the Pressure Cooker mode, which is not available on Speedi? Or do you find Speedi's Steam Crisp mode can work for that as well? I'd really like to know, because my Foodi is on its last legs (had it since they first came out), and so I'm in the market for a replacement.
@@manofsan the new one lid is a better machine than the original. I use it for pressure cooking and it has all the speedi features as well. I like how Doug mentioned other cooking accessories that can be found for it too.
I just received my Ninja Speedi a few days ago. My first meal was a frozen London Broil steak. It was as hard as a rock when I put it in the Ninja Speedi. I cooked the steak on the rack that comes with the Ninja Speedi and rice in the bottom of the Ninja Speedi . I set it on Speedi meals and left the temp on 390 degrees F and set the time for 15 minutes. The meal came out perfect, The steak was at 167 degrees F at the end of the cooking time and as tender as anyone would want. The rice was perfect and tasted great with all the steak drippings dropping on the rice.
That's IT! I'm late this year making a list for Santa. But he knew three months ago when I first saw a vid of Doug's that I wanted the Ninja Speedi. I don't cook steaks because they always come out like something a dog wouldn't eat. Now, I must tell Santa that he could be eating London Broil.
The speedy style meals can be done in the Ninja foodi with the steam fry option.. just as fast. The directions are in the inspirational guide for the foodie and not the normal cooking chart.
These are the two models I own and love them. Your videos actually convinced me to upgrade my old Ninja air fryer to the new Speedi. Gifted the old one to a good friend.
Space is a major consideration for me. I have the one lid model with the thermometer and auto steam release. Along with its capacity to do three layer cooking, this machine does everything the Speedi does and more.
I owned the SmartLID NINJa and was not impressed by the combo SMartlid design and felt it was a total failure in design and the unit failed after heavy use in only 1 year time and never was a reliable pressure cooker. I replaced my SMartLID with the SPEEDI AIRFRYER ROASTER NINJA and believe it a better design and should hopefully be more reliable for me and I will just use a second dedicated pressure cooker with none of the sealing hassles of the SMARTLID with the flapper silicone vents in the lid that are so prone to leaking etc. My SmartLID failed with a lid not close error even though it was closed the machine would not cook.
I own both, and they each have their pros (zero cons in my opinion). I love the Foodi for doing layered meals and soups/stews as well as pressure cooking, and I love the Speedi for the easy as hell quick meals and air frying. Both can be used to convert any recipe that you're used to cooking
Hi, thanks for your sharing. May I know can I cook food like pasta and meat at the one time in foodi as speedi does? If it's possible, does the difference is just about speed? What's time difference it could be?
@@ceciliawong8183 I've done meat and pasta in the foodi for the same time as I do in the speedi. Like chicken breast and pasta with alfredo sauce for 15 minutes on steam/crisp. The speedi does it a little better but they both work in the same time
Hello, can you please explain for me what is the difference between rapid cooker and pressure cooker? I got the ninja speedi, can the ninja speedi cook the meats same as the pressure cooker
So can Speedi's Steam Crisp mode compensate for lack of pressure cooking ability? Or do you find that Speedi doesn't have what it takes to do certain meals that normally require a pressure cooker?
I’m slowly learning my speedi and had not been finding very many desert recipes using the speedi. So I had to try and make one. I made apple bread pudding in the speedi. I had some leftover bread from using my bread machine that I broke up into crotons. And a jar of apple pie filling from some I had canned using my instant pot. The instant pot makes small batch water bath canning super easy. I do 4 pint jars at a time. But for making the bread pudding. In the bottom of the speedi I placed the apple pie filling and added some raisins and nuts. Then layered on top of that filling the homemade crotons mixed with butter, eggs, milk and sugar. I didn’t write any of this down so I’m trying to remember off the top of my head.😁I put the speedi on I think it was 350 for 15 minutes. Then switched it over to air fry for another few minutes so the top could get browned. I could not stop eating this bread pudding it was so quick and delicious.
I just purchased the one lid for its internal temperature probe and steam crisp option. I liked the smaller rectangle design of the speedi, but the the added features of the one lid won the day.
A great review. I have both and enjoy using both. I bought the Speedi last and I have used it more for every day cooking. I don't think you can go wrong with either. They stand alone in how you want to use them. I do love the convenience of the Speedi and the layered cooking.
I love the Foodi with Smart Lid because it does everything the Speedi does plus it pressure cooks, but MOST important is I can cook in three layers! Just did risotto with vegetables and chicken (arborio rice on bottom, carrots/mushrooms middle layer in tinfoil, and protein on top!!). You cannot get anywhere near the depth of room with the Speedi to cook all of this food. Also really love using a stainless steel inner pot and the stainless rack that comes with it, no scratching! Thanks for great review!
My Husband and I love our Ninja Speedi. I made the best pork teriyaki with pineapple rice we have ever tasted. Everything cooks so good in this machine! The chicken parm was fantastic too. It’s a great machine.
As someone who lives in an apartment with limited counter space, I'd choose the Ninja Foodi with SmartLid over the Speedy. Even if I'm only cooking for only two people, the Foodi is great for meal-prepping, pressure-cooking, and for batch-cooking for parties. Plus, as heavy as it is, I'd sometimes bring it over to my friend's houses to help prep food for parties.
I like my one lid for doing multilevel meals and pressure cooking tougher cuts of meat, but want to add the Speedi for it’s smaller footprint and Speedi meals.
Both are awesome and well designed machines. But if I had to pick up one, it would be the Smart Lid Pressure Cooker (preferable the OL701 model) for its versatility and looks.
I just bought ninja Speedi.. still learning..slow cook function is powerful..even low setting.. cooked some boneless ribs add 1 & half cup of water and woke up to it completely dried up.. have add a good amount of water…. Definitely powerful in low slow cooking mode.
I already have a six and eight quart electric pressure cooker. So if I were to choose one at this point, I would probably go with the speedi for smaller/quicker meals since there are only two of us here.
I’ve got the 15 in 1 ninja foodi and haven’t used my oven since! Today I cooked a beef joint with potatoes, peas and gravy. Cooked with temperature instead of time so the meat came out amazing. You just put it in, it works and that’s all you need. I got it because of the cost of living crisis to save electricity. If you want something like this go for it and if it’s not for you send it back.
Thanks for the comparison Doug! Love my Speedi for sure! Quick meal prep and definitely clean up is easier less pots to clean and the food tastes amazing. Cheers 🍻
Great video! I'm currently deciding between the Speedi and Foodi 14-in-1. I love that the Speedi is smaller and cheaper, way cheaper. But it doesn't have the pressure cooking option. Now I have never used that before anyway so I won't miss it, and I think most recipes can be done in the slow as well as the pressure cooker with the only difference being time?
I have the one lid and can make the stacked meals in addition to, pressure cooking. I also use it to make crispy bacon, which you cannot do either of those in the speedi.
I tried to slow cook in the ninja and the instant pot and both didn't work for this so I do still use a crockpot and I really love soups in the ninja pressure cooker and I'm looking into getting a ninja speedi and I still love my rice cooker for certain things and I believe that each machine was designed to make a few things that are the best in that preticular machine but that's just me

I don't have this brand yet, trying to figure out which would work for me. I like the probe, which I think stops the pressure cook when it reaches a set temp. But i like the Speedi, for its fast cooking. Black Friday deals have both at good prices $199 vs. $99... Do you have to slide the lid from pressure cook to air fry when using the probe? I can't find that answer anywhere.
