holy smokes. this sounds amazing on my macbook. Jack, you son-ova-gun. you are my spirit animal. I love your enthusiasm and how much you genuinely enjoy these instruments. you keep me coming back to every video! This Muse is now on my wishlist.
Great to see you back Jack. Wonderful demo & with that fun element you manage to weave into your demos. I hope when you get a chance to noodle you come back & let us know what you have discovered.
In addition to the preset names, when you create your own patch, Muse helps randomly generate a name for you! Great video as always. I look forward to them
I’ve tried it at my local shop. As Jack said, the interface IS posh and the presets are nice. I have a Rev 2, mothers, DFAM and it takes work to tune up and get all that cooking. This is a better considered build on what works like sliders. Reminds me also of how the 80’s synths were limited but were all sweet spot. Big sweetspot and always warm sounding. I want one. Thanks Jack, you’re the best!
Nice. How does the Muse compare to the Polybrute 12 in terms of keybed feel, knobs, and switchgear feel? The Muse's front panel graphics are on a sticker, as opposed to screen printing as on most other gear.
Jack creates the best synth demos. An absolute pro who gets presenting with the right mix of tech and playing. I thought eight voices as a little on the meagre sounds but apparently not! Love the Muse.
For some strange reason it’s not in the default settings, but you can turn on the setting that shows what the original patch value was when you start adjusting knobs and sliders to edit an existing patch.
@HenritheHorse Oz here! This is correct, just a security tag to stop it being stolen from the shop, certainly not a permanent fixture! 🙂 The underside part of the security tag is somehow even uglier than the top, so we just left it on for this video. Hope this helps!
Not that anyone cares about my opinions on the arturtia, but if note stealing bothers a person enough to compare it to the Muse sound. I'm not saying I'm right but I bought a deep mind 12 then then a deep mind 12 d and now I have a24 voice analogue sound. The Muse sounds like it will blend very well with all the Moog desktops and I have all of them.the Muse sounds like a style where the Arturtia sounds more like a make all the people happy all the time approach, the deep mind covers that well in my opinion, I'm going with the Muse.
Did I miss it? Where oh where is Jack’s take on the Polybrute 12? It is 2024, no poly after touch >$3500 is non-sensical. I’ll keep my Montage M8x and consider a Polybrute 12, UDO Super Gemini or Waldorf Quantum Mk2.
Tried it at Andertson's (thanks, Jack!) but honestly: it does nothing my Nord Wave 2 or Black Corporation Kijimi can't do. OK, it does have really nice filters, very decent effects with a seperate delay for left & right even, like the Vongon Polyphrase and it's easy to navigate (not the bank/patch and timbre menues, but otherwise one knob per function) . But for that Moog bass and filter, I'll probably get a used Subfatty somewhere cheap.
Personally I think Andertons has done a disservice to synth music here with that anti theft device. Some of the most iconic synth pieces were created after a synth was nicked out of a store, JMJ springs to mind, I hear he was a bit light fingered in his early days. They get lazy once they've made a few bob.🤣🤣
Actually, zooming in on it, it really does appear to be an anti-theft device. Whether that’s _just_ because of Jack I couldn’t say. 😉 FWIW, I don’t remember seeing one on any other reviews in this channel!
And the Polybrute 12, yes. In my opinion, Jupiter-X is the most rational choice, here. But if the Muse's keybed feel is good, then sure, let it be the Muse.
Sounds aiight, but I will wait a year to see what people can create with this thing, not blown out of the water by any means. Moog is for bass and leads and my subsequent 37 and lil PHATTY has plenty if not more power than this thing
never seem to get the solo sound right on all these modern synths ... I'm sure Jack thinks so too, those 70's 80's solos are hard to make on The Muse too

"Lucky lead" sounds like Keith Emerson's lead sound from ELP's Lucky Man. That glide is the bomb!!

I think the next major innovation in hardware synthesizers will be when the manufacturers can all agree where to put all the I/O. 😂
For some strange reason it’s not in the default settings, but you can turn on the setting that shows what the original patch value was when you start adjusting knobs and sliders to edit an existing patch.
Came across this keyboard when I was at Guitar center, had no idea about it. Really enjoyable to play and sounded great. Then I looked at the price 😂
I agree, that's the best thing about it. Compared to other Moog synths, it's a very reasonable price for what you get. I'm going to get one too.
5.45 …Keith Emerson right there 👍
I think I've fallen in love.

On the back of the synth, just after the Moog logo, is that round thing an anti-theft device, or part of the synth?
What’s the big circle thing on the back after the moog logo?
It’s part of the Moogo logo.
It's a security alarm, to stop it from being stolen.

What's the round plastic gizmo on the back of the synth next to the Moog logo?
I would guess some kind of Kensington lock holder. Might be floor model
I was wondering that too, so I switched across to 4K and could see it was the shop's anti-theft device!
