About your 5-10-15-20% tests: the trick is, since it is flexible, you cannot put your body mass into it. It is about acceleration of the tip. So, if you think you are not hitting hard, but you are still moving your arm quickly, you are still transferring a lot of impulse into the target.
momentum is very low, energy goes up with speed squared. (change in momentum is from M to 0 so it equals impulse). it doesn’t require a lot of energy to be dangerous because of the size of the tip (similar to a bullet) for example 30m/s- 20g- only 9J but it will hurt a lot; equivalent 1kg arm speed is only 3m/s so you accelerate the whip 10times. sniper rifle bullet 900mps, say still 20g~16000J(you don’t feel anything 😂) also you don’t have to move the arm quickly, you only need to apply a force (a bad technique will also give you a low force applied)over a time period while the energy builds up. best way is wrist motion combined with arm motion.

ilovfood you and me both! Thought it sounded like that extension cord whipping through the air! The whooping I got would be considered child abuse by today’s standard.
I did not intend to learn about tactical whips today, but while I'm here: From what I can see, the real benefit of a whip like this over a baton is from how it magnifies the force of a blow. It would be really great for say much older people, someone weakened for whatever reason, or just for small women who might have to beat back an opponent several times their weight. Very little tork with serious results, as appose to the more direct translation of force you have with typical bludgeoning tools or the extra limitations of a tazer.
We've done a lot more experimentation with it and I agree a lot. To make a baton work you have to already be a pretty sturdy and powerful person. My 10 year old could swing this at a person and get his money's worth out of it. They both still have flaws but technique and power are not a requirement to make this thing do something.
You could stab once you get into close quarters with this thing. Not the most stabby end, but that looks scary if it was being thrust toward me. Even then, maybe good wrist tiny strikes once that close. Whip whip whip whip This thing is definitely on my radar for self-defense purposes.
It needs a circular holster, which allows you to easily push the cable into the holster and coil it up for easy carrying, like an oversized tape measure. To draw the weapon, you would just pull on it. The handle needs to be much smaller if you want this to be a truly portable and weapon and holster design.
@SecretLars A belt would be longer, heavier and would require you to unhook the belt before drawing it. Being longer, heavier and wrapping around your body, the draw would be slower and more awkward. The cable on the tactical whip appears to be approximately 18 inches long. Belts would have to come in different lengths. Depending on the size of the defender's belly, a belt would have to be about two to three times longer and therefore considerably heavier than a tactical whip. This would cause the cable to bend and sag a lot more and it would be harder to wield and control. The handle would have to be fairly substantial making somewhat impractical not to mention uncomfortable to use as a belt. Imagine wielding a sword with a 3 to 4 foot long blade, except that the blade is much more floppy and wobbly. I'm not saying that you couldn't severely wreck someone with such a weapon. It would definitely f*ck people up. I just think that it would be pretty uncomfortable and awkward to carry everyday and to quickly draw and use it. The learning curve and skill requirements would also be greater. I think that it would be much less practical carry and use than a typical tactical whip.
I remember doing this to a friend with those twizzlers that are 3ft long. A twizzlers left welts at like 50%. I don't want to imagine what this would do at 100%
Lmao, we did this lots with the off brand red ropes that were that long. We got them from the race track consession stand and me and my brother would whip each other with them. Can confirm, they leave welts lol.
Lol I used to do it with those really thin cheap plastic jump ropes. They were long enough that they would do those wrap around cracks! Haha Good times
I'm going to make a walking cane with one of these 18" whips attached to the handle and inserted down the center. A quick twist of the handle and a pull will release the whip and the handle is so easy to hold on to. The cane itself is such a great self defense and striking tool but the whip is a-freaking-mazing!
I thought you may be over selling how painful this is. Today my buddy walked into work with one and i tried it out... you weren't lying, this thing seems like it could be more effective than a smaller knife.
I am a petite female who is constantly being bothered by unknown random guys wanting to "borrow" my car/truck. This item seems safer to me than my spray canister which is a PAIN !!!
This is not the answer, pain is not enough of a deterrent to an attacker. The reason Pepper Spray or Taser work is because they have to ability incapacitate a threat.
The Nagyka (short whip) has been used as a self defense tool on Russia literally for centuries with great effectiveness. There is a steel cable inside the whip with a lead loaded tip. They also have the Volchatka (the wolf slayer) which is shorter and more stiff with a heavier load at the end.
I love things like this because its nice to see something that is useful and effortless I would feel better if my wife or daughter carrying something like this in her bag Than a hand gun Also i love the idea of the seat belt cutter and glass breaker These are some realy good products guys imo Especially for the uk where the suspect is least likely to use hand guns
You definitely can tell it's effective, especially when you are expecting it and it still hurts like hell. Damn, I am impressed and really do not want to get hit with that thing. OUCH
As someone who's actually used a tiny wrist check with a herding bullwhip to stave off a mugger, I can't imagine how hard the tip of this thing would hurt at full force.
Was thinking exactly this kind of thing, a flexible cable seems far more convenient to have tucked away somewhere on your person at all times than a baton. Even a collapsible one. I could see making a version of this that had a flexible handle, even - you lose the pointy bit but all you really need to use the whip is an end to hang onto. The shoulder strap of a purse might not be the best place to put this, though, given that the purse is probably something an attacker might be trying to get away from you anyway. It'd suck if the first warning you get is someone grabbing the thing with your self defense weapon built into it.
@Hubert Cumberdale I had a similar do-it-yourselfer impulse and was randomly Googling for parts, and came across nylon cable sleeves. I bet you could make a belt out of that and have it act as a convenient sheath for the whip cable. For the grip I was thinking of stringing some big beads onto the end, it would look more "decorative" and be more flexible and comfortable on the belt than a single solid piece. Not sure how it'd feel in the hand though.
does it hurt more than an actual belt tho? i think the main thing is this thing comes with a proper handle but that wouldn't be super comfortable or effective if you have that giant handle thing sticking on your pants

My daughter made me a scabbard of sorts for my Stinger. It slips into a slot on a double layered belt and clips onto a belt loop. Super easy single hand draw and isn't obvious in any way. Can pull it when sitting, standing, driving, etc. with zero issues.
"Whenever you use something, you're gonna have to answer for it". That is the best statement I've heard so far. Especially when talking about weapons and self-defense.
May as well because carrying that shit is even more useless than carrying an expandable baton.... to the law that item doesn't serve any useful purpose and you'll get arrested and charged with carrying an instrument of crime in most states, is very selfish his way of thinking.... i carry an expandable baton since i started working in law enforcement and after ... these days the technology has advanced in our advantage and against us... I've used my baton for self defense and of course having training makes it effective and easier but the most important thing was when i moved to Pennsylvania and we were at the mall in Berks co. and my wife noticed a child locked on a vehicle, the mom couldn't be found , between making her nails and eyebrows time went by... ppl tried to break the car window, not even with a brick to window would break , just chipped STS Cadillac's have high tempered windows... i made it break it with my baton... i mean in a huge mall it isn't like cops have an address... 100s of cars to look around... wasn't the 1st time so she got arrested... but carrying something like baton is useful for many things as long as one isn't thinking only in me me me...
I think that this would be highly effective fending off a knife attacker as well. You have the advantage of a slightly increased reach against someone who is trying to get in close. Assuming you can get to you weapon, even if someone came at you from behind, you could use this effectively...as long as you don't whip yourself.
Nah, i don't want to be anywhere NEAR a guy with a knife, a gun would be a more effective deterrent to make the knife guy at least go "oh fuck i might die if i move" This weapon would be ideal for unarmed aggressors only
@@GoodnightMoon666 I'd agree if I felt that I was well practiced in the Tueller drill and ensured that I could deploy and fire accurately my firearm without endangering others around me. I know very few people who could actually do this effectively while under pressure when the attacker is charging from within 20 feet.
I know a guy that took a ⅝ stranded copper coated wire 28" long and drilled a hole in it put a lanyard on it and whipped a guy in the leggs that was harassing his wife at work .it didnt happen again

Exactly what I thought, but I thought more of winter jacket kind. For example in Russia pretty thick jackets are pretty common site at winter, because of that electroshockers are not that effective at winter here. I wounder if this whip suffers from the same problem.
@@JK-vc7ie Though neck and arms are harder to hit, even if it wasn't so hitting a neck maybe fatal (since you probably can easily damage the arterial with this). Are you sure about thick coats?
Whip whip whip whip
This thing is definitely on my radar for self-defense purposes.
It needs a circular holster, which allows you to easily push the cable into the holster and coil it up for easy carrying, like an oversized tape measure. To draw the weapon, you would just pull on it.
The handle needs to be much smaller if you want this to be a truly portable and weapon and holster design.
legit
You can use it as a belt.
Imagine pulling up thinking you about to beat someone's ass just to see them whip out a whip on you.
Yeah I would rethink my life.

As someone who's actually used a tiny wrist check with a herding bullwhip to stave off a mugger, I can't imagine how hard the tip of this thing would hurt at full force.
Turn it into a belt and you'll have it on you more often. Or the shoulder strap of a purse with quick releases
The belt idea is great. Pulled out of a holder along your belt is the only way I'd use it.
Not sure how it'd feel in the hand though.
does it hurt more than an actual belt tho?
i think the main thing is this thing comes with a proper handle
but that wouldn't be super comfortable or effective if you have that giant handle thing sticking on your pants

Exactly what I thought, but I thought more of winter jacket kind. For example in Russia pretty thick jackets are pretty common site at winter, because of that electroshockers are not that effective at winter here. I wounder if this whip suffers from the same problem.

It is extremely effective against people wearing heavy coats. And keep in mind you also have legs and face, neck, etc.
@@JK-vc7ie Though neck and arms are harder to hit, even if it wasn't so hitting a neck maybe fatal (since you probably can easily damage the arterial with this). Are you sure about thick coats?
