- After Sony spending the last 2-3 years of telling us that we need to buy a whole new headset if we lose our adaptors, I actually put it to the test. To find out if we can't in fact just buy new or used adaptors. Turns out we can.
You can get one for 30$-40$ on ebay:

1 Connect the wireless adaptor to a PlayStation system or other powered USB port.
2 Insert a small pin or similar object into the hole surrounding the reset button in the wireless adaptor, and push in for at least one second.
3 On the headset, hold down the MUTE button and the VSS button.
4 While still holding down the MUTE button and the VSS button, slide the power switch to position 1 or 2.
This worked like magic!
Does it have to be this dongle?
On the USB DONGLE
- plug the dongle in and then hold the reset button till it flashes once, repeatedly
- if the flash sequence is (2) flashes and then repeats; then the dongle is still paired with something.
On the Headset
- Do not have the USB charging cable attached. Pairing will not work while charging your headset.
With those exceptions.

My buddy gave me his set of gold wireless headphones because he broke his dongle. Went to goodwill and found a Sony dongle. It took a few try’s however it worked watching this vid. 👍.
I recommend ppl go to your thrift store/goodwill and look there for replacement dongles. For 99 cents it’s a easy fix.
This is great. I recently bought a Gold headset from a thrift store. It was in great shape but it was only lacking a dongle and a side plate. I was able to buy a broken Gold headset on eBay that included the usb dongle. This worked great for getting them paired! Great headset for playing PS4, and plugging into my laptop too.

I've got a Sony Wireless Gold Headset (CUHYA 0080) and an older dongle for the Wireless 7.1 (CECHUA 0082) - Has anyone got the 2 to sync up? I'm struggling here ..
I just bought PlayStation Platinum headset and the dongle doesn't seem to be working, there is no blue light or a flash. It was working fine when I first plugged in, not anymore though. I can, however, listen to audio after connecting my headset with the DualShock controller. Is the dongle faulty - please help!

thanks man, i tried without knowing the VSS and Mute buttoms pressed tip, now it works! Just check your volumen on your headset is all the way up by pressing it.

I lost mine but I have the 7.1 2018 version and I lost the dongle and can't find a replacement. That's a BS move from Sony to not have replacements considering they are not Bluetooth and only work through the USB. I know you can use the 3.5 jack but you don't get any of the features with that like mute and vol/chat. It's so annoying I'm gonna have to pay £60 for a whole new set

If you want to do this on turtle Beach you only have to plug it into the ps4 to sink but you have to reset when you plug it in

No the CECHYA-0082 is only compatible with the CECHYA-0083 headset.

I just figured it out!!! With the headset plugged in to your PlayStation via usb, hold the reset button on the usb dongle (adapter) and once the blue light starts to flash, with your headset off, hold the mute and vss buttons then plug out the usb cord and turn on the head set at the same time than release the mute and vss buttons... If you do it right it’ll work and pair for sure

Just tried it 3 times and the headset and dongle keeps blinking. Do I have to have connected to a playstation or can I have it connected to a PC instead?

I solved that in 5 mins you have to plug it into the ps4 with a charger with the dongle than power it on

The issue are the dongles are like $35 to 50. YOu can just buy a used headset with a dongle for the same price so in actually if you lose these dongles you're still fucked unless there is some other wireless dongle that works.

What's the brand of usb, I got the ps4 bluetooth adapter, it didn't work for them, this is so frustrating.

marsauce Ebay is a good place to buy them. Make sure it says “working condition”. If it doesn’t work then you can get your money back. Sorry, just realized it’s a message from a while ago.

Has this been confirmed? I just ordered a new open box Gold headset(2018) on eBay for cheap, but it doesn't have the dongle. I do have the dongle from my Gold headset that is about 6 years old. I'm hoping it connects.

@@ajmoreno8337, nope. There are 2 different dongles, and they only work with that specific headset. I had to buy a dongle that worked with my headset, but it did pair just fine.

Did you get this to work? Got the boy a platinum set for Christmas, and he lost the dongle the first day. Thats why Im watching this video now. to see if a Gold dongle will work

No. I bought a new set from Walmart and swapped the dongle out and returned it as defective. Would have gladly paid for a new one but PlayStation didn’t give me the option.

I'm having a issue where I plug in my dongle to my ps4 and my ps4 is automatically reading a headset on even though my headset is turned off. I turn on my headset then I hear everything fine on the headset but I turn off headset and it turns off but ps4 is still reading a headset on so I dont hear anything until I disconnected the dongle from my ps4 and then itll read headset disconnected
My problem now is they can hear but I can’t hear them. Pls help.

does the microphone function still work when using an AUX cord from the headphones to the controller? I can hear everything, audio and chat, but doesn't pick up any noise coming from my end. any tips would be appreciated
Michael Angeles I had the same problem and what I've noticed is that no other aux cable but the default one supplied by Sony will let you use the mic via the aux chord.
I've tried 5 different chords and none of them worked except the PlayStation one that came with the refurbished headset.

ik im late with the reply but try a 3 pin aux is what you need a 2 pin doesn't work take the one that came with the golds and look at the ends of it they have 3 grooves the standard ones your buying are probably 2 grooves
