How do you remove the pads? It’s Giving me a hard time removing the pads kept on doing it clockwise but still.
Does it affect the sound quality? Lots of reviews on Amazon (for use with other headsets though) mention it killing the bass and negatively affecting treble as well.
I've never noticed a difference to be honest. I can't image that is true especially since this doesn't effect the actual speaker. Admittedly I never use the headset for music. I do use them for gaming, party chat, and sweet Netflixing.

How remove or replace headband pad headset?
My left ear is hurting from ps gold your model. Should i do this? I just bought them a week ago.... thanks
I found that these replacement ear pads improved the comfort level for me. Also, I think over time the tension from the "headband" decreased which helped me while wearing them for extended gaming sessions. (When these were new, I couldn't get past an hour or two of wear before the cartilage pain in my ears was just too much.) Incidentally, my buddy bought the new PlayStation Gold headset and he reports that they feel just as (un)comfortable as the old Gold headset he replaced. There are undoubtedly other headsets that are more comfortable (I had a Turtle Beach pair for a spell that were great), but I can't go back to a headset that requires all the other additional wires and clutter. Also, the onscreen integration with the PS4 is clutch. I'm also an Apple guy, so you know, walled gardens are my thing. :-)
Does the earpads cushion for gold have the same size with the Platinum headset?
I do not believe so.

Does the "new" gold headset run off the same spec ? Also do you find that this mod greatly improves the comfort of the headset?

Andrew Charron, I recall the ear pain as well. The replacement pads improved the comfort a bit, but more so the headset is now older and I think the headband is loser. My trusted friend has moved on from his “old” Gold headset to the new and he reports that his ears are not much more comfortable. Unfortunately neither pair are truly “over ear.” The Gold isn’t for everyone. :-/
I’ll investigate the ear pad spec and will post my results.

Mine wont come off
I knew it from the start when i got them , these are not gonna last long. THat fake leather feels so fragile its almost starts peeling when look at it. Thing started today, just got them like 6 months and play like 1 once a week torso. .Sometimes 2 times.

I think you have the new one. After a couple hours I figured it out that it should be pressed from the sides until it pops out. Twisting is not for ours..

Ambitious but not worth the effort. I went for a new pair of pads for 10 bucks, took 30s to replace and I’m good to go back playing again. Enjoying DIY videos like this one though, cheers!
