Great footage. How do you prep for a new/first run? Do you scout things out first? Wondering if you knew the strainer was there, or you go into it cold and deal with obstacles as they come up?
Hi, it all depends on the section of river and if I have road access. On this section I biked in and scouted it from the road. I walked the whole harder section and scouted. We then scouted a few harder sections while we were paddling to spot any wood that might have moved around since our last scout.
Great video, i only got to get to zion this year and hike the narrows and all that kept going through my head is man i want kayak this, do they let people even do it? i know this start just below the narrows but still would be fun found some other ones where they did do it.
You can do it! The Narrows has a very specific window when the NPS issues a permit to kayak through. I've yet to get lucky on the timing but I want to do it too. It's very high on my bucket list... Thanks for watching!
Amazing!
Thanks Adam!
Incredible. Only word I can think of.
Thanks Denny!
Wowowowowow, that’s amazing.
Thanks Sadie!
Is it difficult to get a permit? So fun to see Zion from this view point. Thanks for sharing!!
No, it’s really easy and free. Even the canyoneering permits cost. I was surprised. Super fun.

Did they let you drive the van to drop the Kayaks off?
Yes, since our kayaks didn't fit on the shuttle bus the rangers gave us a vehicle permit at the backcountry desk. This was really nice.
