I can't find any proof that they work ! ive done many searches and no one has had one for any length of time more than a year or 2. so wheres the proof because im tired of buying junk! if you have a tank that has been using one for 20 yrs and cut the tank open then maybe!

You are putting that Teflon tape on backwards! Hold the fitting in your left hand and roll the tape over the fitting that way as you tighten the fitting into the heater you are also keeping the tape wrapped around the fitting. Sorry buddy but it's one of those plumber pet peeves.
Great video and I do recommend the powered anode rods!
Noted but understand I was strictly following directions. On the flip side, I worked the tape into the threads if you notice the video detail and made sure the edges of the tape didn’t grab and unravel during insertion. Also it hasn’t leaked since.
he Corro-Protect unit is quite expensive. Most likely, within the 20 year warranty period of the unit, other unrelated problems will arris with you'r water heater ie, thermostat, over temp protector, pressure relief valve, etc. With this in mind, and the price of the Corro-Protect, you would be better of purchasing a couple of standard Anode Rods for $19 each, which last from 8-10 years where I live. I will keep a spare and just replace mine in 6-7 years. in 20 years, most everyone will want to replace their water heater anyway.
@@JC-gd3cc To each his own. It wasn’t just the anode rod that was the issue. I had already replaced it twice with the original material and one that was magnesium. The lack of smelly water since installing the Corro-Protec, to me, has been worth 10 times the cost. And it’s still working! By the way, my local plumping supply gets $49 for a matching anode rod, not that I could t order one online. Just saying. It does t matter if it was $2.00, replacing it with anything other than the Coro-Protec model fixed the issue for 2-14 days, then the smelly water returned.
I moved to a country setting in eastern Ontario with a drilled water-well and had the rotten egg smell for the first few months we lived here. I explored options and came across this product and wow, it does work! Not only does it work, but the customer service has been great as well. When I sent an email asking about the power adapter AC/DC I had a response within 30 mins. Amazing, not many companies stand behind their products like this one. No, I don't work for the company, I just like this particular item as it works like they say it does. My water was odour free in less than an hour after the easy install. Great product and good video!
Thanks. I don't get any kickbacks from testimonials, so I'm happy when it worked for someone else. I've encountered some detractors since posting this video, but all I know is...it works, and has been since about 10 minutes after I mounted it. Thanks for watching and for the compliments.
I would avoid grounding aluminum against copper. Probably better to ground to the steel casing.

I have a powered anode rod for over 8 years in my hot water heater. I put it in there when I bought the heater on day one back in 2014. These absolutely work. It eliminated the sulfur smell and it has never returned. I have well water in SWFL with a tds count of about 800 ppm. Best thing I ever bought. I may never have to buy another water heater again. Not sure of the brand and can’t find it online but I know I paid about $250.00 for it and it had a coiled up spring type of rod that you expanded to the length of the tank.

I don't usually do this, but I have to comment. We had sulfur smell off and on for 5 years since we moved into this house that is 48 years old. Finally the sulfur smell was not tolerable even after I changed the anode and sanitized the system. I bought the corro-protec rod and, I can't believe this, the smell was gone in less than 24 hours. I had to do some plumbing mods because we have a Bradford-White water heater with an integral anode and outlet connection. But I managed and the water has never been better, now over 2 weeks later. Pretty amazing.

Will the Cheaper Powered anode rods that they sell on Amazon work just as well as the More expensive "double the price" units Corro-Protec sells . I have not found a compare video on these different powered anodes
I cannot offer an opinion because I have not ever used the cheaper ones. Sorry. But, high priced or not, I 'know' this one works. I guess you can gamble on a lesser brand and always pay for this one if the other one fails.

Just being picky but it appears you wrapped the tape the wrong way around the threads of the powered anode rod.
Fair enough. The illustrated instructions actually showed wrapping the tape this way. I agree with you that it is backward but if you notice right before insertion, the video shot shows that I worked it deep into the threads with my fingers so the edge of the tape wouldn’t grab on anything and pull loose during tightening. I had stumbled across about replacing the anode Rod in hot water tank, which I was unaware of thus I receive some knowledge from all the video’s I watched. I used the same Coro Protec replacement rod to avoid having to replace the other types every 3-5 years. Now my water tank is 14 years old with a water softener. Seeing how many struggled with removal using a breaker bar, I went with the Ryobi 262 Impact wrench for my 18v batteries for the same brand of tools. The old anode rod was on there very tight and took a few tries with the impact wrench but had it out in less than 5 minutes and no spinning of tank due to leverage with a breaker bar on the socket. The anode rod should be about 4 ft or so and my old one was about 8 inches. At 14 years old I expected the rod to be even shorter if any. Put the new Corro Protec (make sure you use teflon tape or plumber grease to seal the threats). Plugged into the device, the other to a top screw for grounding and then plugged in it and green light came on. Remember to turn the controller in my case gas to ‘pilot😂’, and turn off the water intake then through the drain valve lower the water in the tank for a few minutes before removing the old anode rod.
The Corro Protec is lit green and should be protecting my water tank from February 2024 forward. never had the odor smell (thankfully). However, I have learned something new. Hope your replacement is doing its job, would be great to have any update and your thoughts on the device. Not cheap at $160 but then it good for 20 years or more. Plumber I called was also talking of replacing with an electrical one, before I decided to do the project myself.
Mine is still going great with no smell still. I can’t say enough about this product.

When, installing the anode, you wrapped the anode with Teflon tape in the wrong direction.

You won't be disappointed. I know they were a sponsor, but this thing is still working great. Won't help if you have smelly cold water, but it will wipe out smelly hot water if that's where your smell is coming from.

Work better? No. I use it with a water filtration system that treats for hard water and it doesn't seem to matter with or without. It works either way. Thanks for viewing. Dean
Most people do not have a Hot Water Heater! If the water is already hot, you probably don't need to heat it. Most people use a Cold Water Heater. Lol.

@@PilotViewProductions we just bought a summer home, and I was shocked when I smelled it. I thought it was the septic tank.. we are city folks so we are not used to that smell..

@@PilotViewProductions Thank you so much for this video and this comment. I'm experiencing the sulfur smell hell myself right now. We've done the magnesium rod and now have an aluminum/zinc rod. The smell is horrible and my hair stinks something awful. I'm having my electrician come this week to install an outlet near the water heater and then the plumber is going to try this. Brand new water heater and I never dreamed of this kind of issue it's so awful. Thank you again, I'm looking forward to getting back to normal smelling hair and water.

Nickel bearing Teflon tape for stainless
3:28 first of all you're putting the plumber's tape on the wrong way. Second, no the plumbers tape does not insulate dissimilar metals from each other. As you tighten the Teflon tape will deform itself into the valleys and tear away from the peaks of the threads thus eliminating any possibility of being a barrier.
First: I put the tape on because the manufacturer instructed it be done. Secondly, it was installed in the manner the manufacturer instructed. Third: if your contention is the tape wasn’t necessarily due to dissimilar metals why do you object to the manner in which the tape was installed? Fourth: please provide links to 'your' videos showing the correct manner in which to install similar devices. Finally, If you order one of these, feel free to check the instructions yourself. Beyond that, you may take up installation objections with the manufacturer. Thanks for viewing.

Why don't electric water heaters come from the factory this way? What's the downside?
I’m sure it’s just cost…would add another 50 to 100 dollars plus make it last longer. The latter is not a good formula for repeat sales.

You can simply ground it to any screws on the tank housing. This is thoroughly explained in our included installation guide inside the box!

@@PilotViewProductions Aluminum causes dementia (along with pots/pans), Magnesium starts to smell like rotten eggs, but it is a nutrient the body needs. Any effects on human health for titanium?
