Matt is such an amazing fitter! I've seen him on several videos now across multiple channels and he actually treats a high handicap player exactly how he treats a tour pro! Amazing his dedication to his craft!
Interesting to compare to Foxy’s original fitting 2 years ago. Swing has developed so much. Also interesting that he’s gone for a more forgiving head than what he was fitted into as a beginner.
I love the comment that Hot Metal Pro is those coming back from blades (me) and Hot Metal is those beginning their journey - I think that should be included in Mizuno literature because it makes a lot of sense for consumers & fitters to know.
Just found this video. Great to see a high handicap fitting. I got a ‘fitting’ when I began and the driver I got (Taylormade SLDR) has been a nightmare. I was going to buy off the rack but rethinking that now.
Interesting video. My concern with being fitted as a high-handicapper (returning to golf after about a 15 yr layoff - used to be a bogie golfer) is that if I'm fitted for clubs based on my current swing (stance, plane, swing speed, etc), what happens after a series of lessons where the pro improves my swing so that most everything changes? I may end up needing a different lie angle, shaft flex, etc. (Not to mention that I'm 15 yrs older, so my current set likely has specs that aren't optimal for my 64 y.o. body, anyway.) Which comes first, lessons or the fitting? Kinda like the chicken vs the egg conundrum, no?
Nice! Thanks for sharing the fitting! I find the shaft selection process super interesting. Makes me realize how much we undervalue the importance of shafts in irons.
An excellent instruction video. You are obviously a good player James but anybody who has seen many good golfers play would observe your swing as being way too flat. Hope that lesson works wonders for you.
Really enjoyed watching Foxy get fitted as I am a high handicapper also. Align grips are great if the fitter puts them on properly....I had some put on at one of the big box stores and they were all over the place.
Very shortly I want to be fitted for irons but done with someone I trust the likes of American golf and stuff so not actually fit you to your spec they are more bothered about selling you certain clubs at that time. What fitting centre is this James? Would love to go there and get myself a set of mizuno?
Have to admit to being a little cynical. Not that I don’t agree with this process but hell this is an expensive business doing this every 2 years as your handicap reduces. How would his current clubs have performed with the new shafts? He was fitted to quite expensive clubs when he started out. I appreciate his swing has changed since starting out. That’s a bloody long 7 iron by the way. I’m under 150 yards.
Foxy got the exact same fitting as myself even down to the shaft length and grip with 3 tapes, only difference is I’ve got the JPX forged head. Go well Foxy lad.
Really enjoy these videos. I had my first fitting recently. Being a mid to high handicap I was concerned with consistent ball striking to get the best experience/value however the whole fitting process is very eye opening and enjoyable. I learned so much about my swing & how much the correct shaft can help performance. I highly recommend a fitting if you have access to a fitter and means to get one. I was fitted at Club Champion which allowed me to try different brands and ended up with the Nippon 950GH stiff shafts with the Mizuno 921 Forged heads.
Soon to be fitted for clubs after many years and getting back into the game, thanks for sharing - new sub today. BTW thats one hell of a swing for a high handicapper very nice
Great to see a fitting I can relate too, Foxy has come on so far since he started. I was worried about going for a fitting as a high handicapper (21.4) but this has eased my mind quite a bit
Great to see a high handicap fitting! Nice point Matt made about the right setup of a club to a golfers personal physical attributes, what ever their handicap. Like he said it automatically cuts out a negative in the learning arc. Oh, Foxy did you proud with his performance at the fitting James!👍
Brilliant as always from Matt. He’s been the fitter on a few different channels here and there. Good fellow. (Would love to see Liam drag Mr Barlow in there! Lol)
I see a lot of fitters affiliated to just one brand/make. I understand shafts etc can all be made similar no matter the head but how much difference can a different head brand make and are there going to be restrictions in getting the perfect club for you if you don’t have the option of heads?
How did this affect his game? As a high handicapper, I've never been able to justify the expense of a fitting and new clubs like this. I'm very curious as to what kind of difference this has made to his scoring.
Really awesome aspects placed on fitting vs coaching, and where fitting will help the process based on the inherent attributes of the person’s swing. Thanks James, and also Foxy and the Mizuno team for these videos.
Good on foxy hope he plays well with the new clubs. Well done James on getting him fitted. The mizuno fitting team explain well how its done. Enjoyed the video.
You can't go wrong with the JPX line. I have the 900's in the KBS tour with golf pride tour wrap grips. They are great clubs. The 921's will probably be my upgrade soon.
Great video. Well done foxy. Any time I have been fit, I have felt a little of pressure and you seemed to smash. 90mph 7 iron speed is tour speed!! Wow
Did foxy even get to try the 225's. I waffled between the hotmetal and 225's and the 225's performed just a smidge less in distance but in control and feel oh what a feeling.
Great Video 🔥 I’ve been playing for about 2 years now and using hand me down Dunlop Surpass Irons 😳 I’m usually in the high 90’s so I think it’s time for upgraded clubs and it’s very informative seeing how important the shaft is.
I like how Foxy wants to take a realistic approach to all this like not using his driver until he gets on with it better and seems patient towards his equipment.
Every time I see Matt doing a fitting, I know it's going to be good. Foxy with the TOUR shaft💪 That last shot that Matt showed is a single digit hcap 7 iron. Foxy just needs to work on being able to consistently hit it.
I play 921 hot metal and love them. I also have a set of sim max os, and with the Mizuno's I can feel where I struck the ball on the face. On the sims I have no clue.
Interesting to see process- I’ve been through myself recently. I’d love to see some videos highlighting Foxy’s scoring and how his handicap changes. I sometimes can’t believe he’s off 25
Golf is not about hitting a low lofted 7 iron 170 yards and assuming everything is great. There is 30 yards to 170 yards that need to be covered consistently. Golf is a tough game. Golf is not about distance only. Hard and fast greens need spin and accuracy. Slow and soft greens, everything sticks. Better players irons are less offset and thinner soles with better turf interaction. Less distance but more spin and accurate. Choose your poison.
I wish you could get this type of fitting to use for 2nd hand clubs. I'm thinking of changing my clubs back to regular after playing last three years with Lite flex (old man) but more golf means i feel like i need to go back to regular to get rid of high shots losing distance.
As a member of the public, you are allowed to book a fitting with Mizuno. They charge £500.00 for the fitting process and before Covid, they would make up a set for you to take away. I think that now you have to wait for the clubs to be made as Mizuno, along with all Manufacturers' custom fitting, have a backlog. Mine took just over 3 months to arrive.
I don't know if it was cut out or simply not mentioned, but the video could mislead people into the myth that faster swings warrant stiffer shafts and slower swings warrant more flexible shafts. There are way too many people out there that go walking into golf stores and fittings thinking they are some macho guy, my buddies say I spray it all over the place because my shafts are too whippy, I need an extra stiff shaft. Or on the other end if the spectrum someone goes in and says that because they short hitting, old, or inflexible that they need a senior or ladies shaft. Both of those groups of people don't understand how shafts work, and how a number of different things go into getting the right shaft in flex, in weight, and each of the bend points (tip, mid, and butt). That's where having something like the Shaft Optimizer is good where it takes the guesswork and opinion out of getting fit. Things like tempo, kick, and release factor aren't talked about enough in club fitting. (To further dispel the myth of shaft flex effecting direction, or being speed related go watch Rory Mcilroy hitting a G-Force swing trainer club. The saft may be very flexible, but he still stripes it straight, and around the same distance as hus normal clubs all while swinging at his normal speed and tempo).
How is a club fitting with only 1 brand a fitting at all? I was fitted recently and trying only one brand seems a waste, at that point you might as well just buy what you want, who cares what works best
Couldn’t right or left leaking shots be attributed with lie angle? I had a slightly right leaking shot and I hit a strike plate with paper on the sole and I was hitting more towards the toe. Fitter went toe up a little and shots were instantly straight
Great video. Not sure if it means anything but it seems like all the scuff marks are behind or at the ball. Should the scuff marks be in front of the ball meaning ball first contact? Thank you
When I last looked it was £500.00 for the fitting and recommended retail for the clubs. You used to get the clubs made on the day but since Covid, there is a backlog. Mine took 3 months.
@@JamesRobinsonGolf and looked like you enjoyed the chicken burger. Which course did you play? If you came across any orange balls they were mine 😕A great club with two very different courses.
As I understand it, the smash factor is the ratio between clubhead speed and ball speed. I believe the current regulations allow up to 1.5. Golf ball manufacturers get as close to that as possible.
Going from 10° out to in (Slice) to netraul or even better in to out, just by doing a fitting is a Mizuno miracle ..... Love my Mizunos, but this is TH-cam......
Matt is such an amazing fitter! I've seen him on several videos now across multiple channels and he actually treats a high handicap player exactly how he treats a tour pro! Amazing his dedication to his craft!
Pretty good swing for a 25 handicap. I bet the problem (same as me) is more likely bunker play, chipping and putting!
Interesting to compare to Foxy’s original fitting 2 years ago. Swing has developed so much. Also interesting that he’s gone for a more forgiving head than what he was fitted into as a beginner.
Love this. I play off 18 and have been holding off on a fitting until I was ‘better’ but I think I’ll get one organised.
I love the comment that Hot Metal Pro is those coming back from blades (me) and Hot Metal is those beginning their journey - I think that should be included in Mizuno literature because it makes a lot of sense for consumers & fitters to know.

Love to see that someone has done this makes me feel better about going to get a club fitting in the future
Reminds me of fitting at a Pga store my results get better with stronger lofted clubs, amazing.
Really enjoyed watching Foxy get fitted as I am a high handicapper also. Align grips are great if the fitter puts them on properly....I had some put on at one of the big box stores and they were all over the place.
Absolute class video! Definitely helped me understand more on why you need certain weight & flex etc and not just cos you swing it fast!
Very shortly I want to be fitted for irons but done with someone I trust the likes of American golf and stuff so not actually fit you to your spec they are more bothered about selling you certain clubs at that time.

Love seeing Foxy improve. Well done Gents
Foxy should be definitely buying the beers. What a great friend you are to set this up. Cheers!
Best fitter around, would love to have an experience like that
Really enjoy these videos. I had my first fitting recently. Love this fitting. Foxy is the high handicap hero. I hope this helps lower his scores now. ⛳️⛳️👍🏻👍🏻.
Massive thumbs up on this. ⛳️
I have basically the same set up. But with the black KBS $ taper shafts. Loving them so far!
Great to see a high handicap fitting! Nice point Matt made about the right setup of a club to a golfers personal physical attributes, what ever their handicap. Like he said it automatically cuts out a negative in the learning arc. Oh, Foxy did you proud with his performance at the fitting James!👍

Much different approach fitting Foxy compared to fitting James. Really glad you brought this fitting for us to watch.
I see a lot of fitters affiliated to just one brand/make. I understand shafts etc can all be made similar no matter the head but how much difference can a different head brand make and are there going to be restrictions in getting the perfect club for you if you don’t have the option of heads?

225 FEEL GREAT=HOT METAL NO FEEL
Very interesting video. Big question though , What does it all cost ?
What a great video. So pleased for Foxy! I’d love to have a proper fitting for irons with the pros!! You’ve no chance against him now, James!! Lol
Great Video 🔥 I’ve been playing for about 2 years now and using hand me down Dunlop Surpass Irons 😳 I’m usually in the high 90’s so I think it’s time for upgraded clubs and it’s very informative seeing how important the shaft is.

Good stuff Foxy!!! To gain that much distance is amazing! Can't wait to see the next head-to-head match with the new irons.
I came from mizuno mp-54 I needed something more forgiving so I went to callaway apex but I want to get back to mizuno I love the feel
I can't wait to see the end result in action. Good luck Foxy!!
Foxy has a very competent almost text book swing credit where credits due he has bundles of potential, single figure not far down the road
Every time I see Matt doing a fitting, I know it's going to be good.
Foxy with the TOUR shaft💪
That last shot that Matt showed is a single digit hcap 7 iron. Foxy just needs to work on being able to consistently hit it.

Appreciate your time mate
It would be fun to do a 9 holes course, and than a few days later with the new clubs and see if it makes a difference.

Great opening sequence Guys.
Mr Fox looked like a Kid opening his presents on Christmas morning, he looked so happy👍

So happy for foxy to find something to help with consistency! Really enjoyed the video James!
That you for saying 'it's a myth high Handicapers need a soft flex shaft '. Amen.
Good posting! I’m looking forward to the club swap video.
Can't wait to see you guys playing with the new bats! Mine are on the way soon too. (I hope)
Go Foxy!!!!! great video, can't wait to see you 2 battling it out! Get ready to be beaten, James!
Same shaft, grip and heads as me, knocked 10 off my handicap. (I am 18 month in to the game).
Wow nicely done. Keep up the excellent progress!
Great video - well done guys
Love my mizuno got mi e back end of last mp20 hmb 1st ever mizuno clubs owned love em
You could make a career of introducing average golfers to a proper fitting. I enjoy very much.
Matt is a great ambassador for mizuno, comes across really well
Also foxy…..he’s gonna be a machine when you’re finished with him
Cracking video again James and really good to see foxy get fitted again, looking forward to seeing his progress with his new weapons
1st committing before I watch.....best part of my day
Foxys swing looking good 👍
Now that’s a fitting! 👍
Well done James 👏
I wish you could get this type of fitting to use for 2nd hand clubs. I'm thinking of changing my clubs back to regular after playing last three years with Lite flex (old man) but more golf means i feel like i need to go back to regular to get rid of high shots losing distance.
This is a good idea. You may have a winning idea here.
We've got identical sets, only mine are lefty!
Way to go Foxy! Your definitely improving if thats what your being fit into!
Love the way the fitter explains everything. Would love a fitting from him
My wife said that.

Thanks great video
I’m close to his handicap
He’s hitting so much more pure than me
I’m lost.
How did the fitting translate to the course....
Loving watching Foxy’s progress and no offence Robbie but the majority of us want to see more of this and getting Foxy lower. Great content.
How is a club fitting with only 1 brand a fitting at all? I was fitted recently and trying only one brand seems a waste, at that point you might as well just buy what you want, who cares what works best
So the lad is a cricketer. Now that explains a lot about his swing - looks like a strong drive over long-off.
Couldn’t right or left leaking shots be attributed with lie angle? I had a slightly right leaking shot and I hit a strike plate with paper on the sole and I was hitting more towards the toe. Fitter went toe up a little and shots were instantly straight

BINGO!AXE MURDERER SWING.LMAO NOW THAT JAMES WENT AND SAW PETER COWAN AND REALIZED WHAT A SHIT SWING HE REALLY HAS HE CAN NOW SHOW HIM PETERS WAY.
thank you.
Foxxy needs to up his wardrobe game.... I thinking every video this year, he has worn the same shirt, James, give him some CASTOR wear !!
Go on Foxy your be smashing James up once you get them and see that handicap coming down soon
How much would all that normally cost, including the clubs?
When I last looked it was £500.00 for the fitting and recommended retail for the clubs. You used to get the clubs made on the day but since Covid, there is a backlog. Mine took 3 months.
Brilliant lads 👍
Who fitted foxy the first time? Although he's improved a lot the OG spec seems odd.
Happy for him good stuff
James, so much for being a fly on the wall. Huge fly that knocked down clubs huh. 🤣🤣
Can't wait to see foxy play with his new clubs
Can't wait to see the on course content with Foxys new twigs!
So he was fitted into KBS Shafts and they are severely impacted by supply chain problems.... He may get his Irons in 2022
Your slick Aston I was following at Archerfield LOL?
Yes buddy 😂😂😂
@@JamesRobinsonGolf and looked like you enjoyed the chicken burger. Which course did you play? If you came across any orange balls they were mine 😕A great club with two very different courses.
Loved the video nothing feels like a Mizuno well PXG 2011 (2019) take some beating foxy going to smash it this season
If I'm 68.5 inches tall almost 69 should I have standard length or half inch shorter?
Did they say how long it would be as KBS Tour shafts are non-existent as far as I know.
Would you describe the role that smash factor plays?
As I understand it, the smash factor is the ratio between clubhead speed and ball speed. I believe the current regulations allow up to 1.5. Golf ball manufacturers get as close to that as possible.
Foxy needs to watch Danny Maude and fix his swing.
Yr welcome😎
How long has he been playing and what’s his handicap
Go on foxy! 🤙🏻
Going from 10° out to in (Slice) to netraul or even better in to out, just by doing a fitting is a Mizuno miracle ..... Love my Mizunos, but this is TH-cam......
What if you don't golf and you don't have clubs? I have money and prefer to start out with the right fitted equipment.
great to see the ins and outs of a fitting...
