It’s about teenage rebellion against authority, but could be adopted by anybody or any group. The band is all men but dressed extremely glammed out!
"you're all worthless and weak", "now drop and give me 20" and "a pledge pin on your uniform" are all quotes from the film "Animal House" spoken by the character Douglas Neidermyer the school's ROTC officer
Feel like the video would have helped you out a bit on this one.
"Crusty Lady" is actually a pretty good description of Dee Snider. He'd probably agree. He's a very well spoken advocate for free speech in the music industry.
This is the perfect anthem for our modern day dilemmas.
Dee Snider schooled congress back in the 80s about censorship, Frank Zappa, and even John Denver did as well.
They really embraced the time and very much were for the kids. Dee Snider fought Congress during the censorship hearings, and really took it to them.
Twisted Sister may be hard to take seriously, but "I wanna rock" is classic-level good, and can not be mocked on a music foundation level.
One of THE rock/metal anthems, often covered at concerts to get the audience pumped up. There's a great acoustic/symphonic version by the Swedish band Hellsongs, they do acoustic versions of all sorts of metal songs.
Lex's laugh - that's the secret sauce - of this channel's success.
Really cool guy and he definitely looked like a crusty lady at the time. Look him up, his court appearance against Tipper an Al Gore about censorship is hilarious.
It came out at a time where they had government hearings on lyrics in metal songs, the lead singer actually appeared and testified on capital hill, and put them in their place, you can see a video of it on TH-cam I think,it’s kinda impressive, look up dee snider testimony
The "worthless and weak, drop and give me twenty, pledge pin on your uniform" business is Dee Snider quoting lines from "National Lampoon's 'Animal House'"
We used the chant this song in grade school. In high school it changed to Fight For Your Right To Party though.
This whole album is a lesson on how to do 80s rock... The Price should be next
Dee Snider, one of the best front men in music. Amazing stage presence. Saw these guys in concert when I was 16 in New York. Snuck in with my brother :)
I seen Twisted Sister and Iron Maiden back in 84,still one of the best concerts I've ever seen to date!
This was an anthem for us 80s kids 🤘🤘
Rebelling against authority. Like the PMRC. Dee Snider went to court with John Denver and Frank Zappa to make sure the government did not sensor music lyrics.
You guys play so much of my youth. We had so much fun growing up in the 70s and 80s. It was always a party.
