Walker Technical must be proud and excited to supply the interim organ during renovation at National Cathedral. Endorsement at high levels helps the rest of us to know quality.
The more they prove that they make high quality digital organs or can enhance organs that are fully voiced by pipes (hybrid organs) the more they will be trusted for bigger projects.
AWESOME!!!!!
Yep. Nothing like voicing by the master. Glad I was able to work with him for those years....
Awesome!
I met Bob Walker at the 2005 ATOS convention in Pasadena. I was able to play the RTO-335 and LOVED IT! 🙂 To me, the only way to tell a real pipe organ from a digital is, the real pipe organ creates a cypher(stuck pipe) where the Digital doesn't 🙂 I get to play a friends 4/42 Walker Theatre Organ, but not often enough 🙂 Wish Walker would create a 'copy' of the Barr-Wurlitzer 3/20 Theatre Organ. 🙂
Yes, for me even though I have played a hybrid organ I still can't tell where the speaking pipes end and where the speakers start.
You should go see St John’s Lutheran in Allentown
Yes, that is on our list. Hopefully they get back to us.
Pennsylvania? They should go to St. Matthews in Hanover, PA
Thanks for this suggestion as well. Looks like a wonderful 4 manual pipe organ.
25:55 this is an important statement. 26:39 again, agreed. Its a lifechanging instrument. !!!
It's amazing that in this digital age, a company can exist and apparently do well in building musical instruments which went out of fashion many decades ago.
My brother played
the trumpet ❤
Has he played with a pipe organ?
How do I get some of those CDs seen???
We don't have any CDs. We do have a playlist though with most of the music from the program.
I encourage you to check it out.

Is walker the main rival to the Allen organ co who are the inventors of the digital pipe organ?
Basically, yes. Rodgers organs are also a digital organ company but they are not as big.
I probably didn't understand this correctly - but what sense do 7 manuals make in today's world where it is possible to play every division on every manual (floating) ?
Almost 30 years ago I had the opportunity to design a "large" digital organ and we decided to build "only" 3 manuals - the organ itself, however, has 8 independent divisions, which can all be played independently via external keyboards (for example)
from an ergonomic point of view, even 4 or 5 manuals are problematic...
Well, with technology making it more of a less likely thing to need as many manuals I still think that people are amazed how big an organ can be. Aka it can show how massive the instrument is. I think it comes down to that and plus it could make it easier for an organist to set registration for a hard piece so possibly less work.
Who's playing?
The organist is Daniel Umholtz. He is the organist for Walker.
