I too am considered a "crazy bird lady" by my family and friends. I only have one little man right now, a 15 year old male Cockatiel. But it's my dream to have a flock.. I always get excited when I see birds in the wild. I live in Australia and we have very very many wild parrots in my area, including a King parrot like Kingsley, who is wild but is an expert at begging snacks from local houses. He recently found a mate who he brings around, she hides shyly in a nearby tree.
Birds are the best! My day is not complete without visiting the outdoor birds in addition to enjoying my crazy paper shredding Uncape parrot, Baby Bird 😃
I really enjoyed this tour of your bird room. Also, I like seeing your birds; I can recognize almost all your birds, but still find it difficult to remember the names of your rosy bourkes. They all look great. You give them a great room and provide them with everything that makes them enjoy it to the fullest.
Birds are amazing it's changed my life watching your videos and love your birds so beautiful, unique, and full of happiness personalitys also I do birds watching with my grandma who also has 4 blue and yellow macaws, sun conure, and 3 zebra finches Donna thanks for everything us birds lovers looking up to and especially love Malibu and Kingsley 🥰❤️
What a fantastic set up you have. Just awesome. No wonder all your birds are doing so well. Plenty to do at your house. All your baby's are so beautiful. I only have an Alexandrine King Ringneck Parrot and a Rainbow Lorekeet both female and they are spoiled birds with lots of toys as well. They certainly keep you on your toes cleaning. From one crazy bird lady to another, thank you for your in depth post. Much love from Australia 👍❤😀
You're one of the reasons why I decided to have kakarikis 🥰 (also the main reason why I want a plum-headed so bad hahaha). I love your birdroom and your flock, I hope someday I'll have a nice room like that!
I Love birds so much! Right now I have 4 parakeets - Erica,Rufi,Fifi & Olivia and they are my babies ❤️ and I’m planning to adopt a cockatiel very soon! ❤️ Love your videos
Hi Donna, parrots are my favorite animals. I have 7 parrotlets and i really love them. Please, what kind of Parrot is the one with Brown head in 6:24 minutes? Thanks. God bless you and all of your animals. 😏😘❣️
I ❤️ birds too and enjoy your videos very much. I recently bought an heated hummingbird feeder. The weather is cold and the nectar freezes in the other feeder. I am so happy to keep the birds fed in the winter. I call my new feeder a hummingbird flying saucer. It looks like a UFO 🛸.
Hi Donna, is your favourite film Hitchcock's The Birds? Haha .. always lovely to see around your wonderful setup and belated congratulations on the 100K subscribers. It must be a hell of a lot of work but so worth it. If I had space for a cage near the floor I'd be keeping Quails too, but I guess you don't want them running around ! Thank you for sharing your bird-crazy lifestyle! ♥🐦
Haha, I was afraid of birds when I saw that movie and now I laugh at it. I have thought of quails but I have heard they smell and poop a lot and I probably couldn't catch them in I needed to put them in a cage, lol
your room is fantastic.. ive got 3 birds .. two budgies 1 great singing canary all free in my living room.. only to cage to eat and sleep// lolt of work every day cleaning but i love it
Hi Donna, I saw your rosella parrot last year at bird kingdom and took a couple of selfies with them! I didn’t know you had more birds around bird kingdom or I would have taken pics with them too
I loved your "wacky wood", so I went looking for it here in STL MO. I found it in the reptile accessories. They call it a root here in the states. Your bird room is great! I want to redo the walls in my bird room similar to yours. I think we are going to paint local trees on the wall; easier for us. There are 20 parakeets and 4 cockatiels on the regular in the room. Sometimes the pigeons (5 counting the 4 days old hatched baby), another cockatiel and a conure hang out in there (my spoiled birbs that free fly the house). My 4 chickens go in to "clean" the floor. The little birds are messy and waste food. The pigeons and chickens eat the perfectly good food off the floor. I'm glad to have ground feeders. I have a recently adopted Goffins cockatoo, Peach. She is a dream.
Congratulations on your new bird! I was thinking of getting quails but I have heard they are very messy and smelly but not sure if that's true. My bourkes clean up any seeds that are on the floor so I will call them my clean up crew, lol
Does your kakariki love sunlight too? My male red-crowned kakriki LOVES sunlight. He'd sit in the sun for HOURS. Also its really fun because my first bird (a green cheeked pineapple conure) is also named Kingsley :D
Thank you, yes they all get along however they may squabble during breeding season. I like the art work that Synergy made. I can't believe he made it into a bird, lol
We 17 birds inside. Eight Cockatiels and three Bourkes in a room. Four Budgies in a smaller sun but they do visit the Cockatiel room. They all sometimes fly through the house under supervision. We have an Eclectic Parrot and Quaker parrot in our living room. The Bourkes love to escape the Cockatiel room and fly free. The budgies love to visit the cockatiels and Bourkes but can become a bit boisterous and bossie
I am a crazy bird lady also… I notice that there isn’t that many of us… I really admire the great care you give them… I have only two IRN and find that it is getting harder to clean cages and room etc… I take my birds with me wherever I go even Florida in pet carriers… How are you able to leave and go on vacation etc…how long can I leave my birds home alone.. I have a camera where I monitor them but don’t leave them more than 3 days so I can give them fresh water…
Kingsley is so cute 🥰🥰🥰 what a beautiful parrot! Also I need to get a heated bird bath, seeing the female cardinal enjoy it made me realize I’m missing out! Or rather- my backyard bird friends are missing out! I’m great at spotting birds myself, well mostly just cardinals, I can tell by their chirps and I know the kinds of spots they like to be in. People are always shocked when I point out a cardinal that’s so far away lol. I should point out your amazing talent for spotting birds has saved several lost budgies 😊 I still am always on the lookout for lost birds ever since I saw that video. I haven’t seen any yet, but I would be so happy to return someone’s bird to them. It’s awesome to be a crazy bird nerd 😆
Hello, you have a nice channel and I like to watch it from time to time, what are your experiences with social finch and gouldian finch, have you grown them and recommendations. Do you think a nymph or a budgie is better? I'm a bit scared by the demandingness of the nymph and some very bad sound I heard in the pet store. Is a nymph or a budgie better for a pet? Suggest some birds that could be left unattended from Friday evening to Sunday evening alone in the house, thanks and regards.
Hi, it depends on what you want in a bird. It's hard for me to choose for you, however it's best not to leave the bird alone on the weekends. It's best to hold off getting a bird until you are able to be home on the weekends
Parrots are demanding and cannot stay alone for a single day, but they say that canaries and finches can stay alone for 2 days if they have enough water and food. Thank you for your answer.
You are right, parrots ask for attention all the time, but they say that canaries and finches can stay alone for a few days if they have water and food without consequences, thanks@@Loveofpets
Hi, love your bird room, I too leave my birds out every day I have four live birds for parakeets and two cockatiels and two of my parakeets, and all four of my lovebirds are not returning to their cages at dinner time, which they have in the past how do you get your birds back in their cages ,hanging millet sometimes works but not lately, any suggestions you’re so sweet thank you
Hi, I use spray millet to get them back in the cage. I make sure to get them in the cage before they roost, otherwise they won't go in. Also I don't provide any seed out of the cage. I provide fresh foods and pellets while they are out. They can go into the flight cages to eat a bit of seed but it's not much as the birds ate it the night before so they eat the leftovers. I open the doors when I want them in and refresh pellets, seeds and spray millet and usually they go in. Sometimes they won't go in so I dim the lights, close the curtains to que them that it's bedtime. I use the word bedtime each night so they know its time to go in the cage. I also have a long bird ladder that I will use to guide them in with. Some step up on the ladder which helps. Hope this helps.
Yes, very helpful. It just dawned on me that I’m still trying to wean my cockatiels off of seed and mix in with their fresh food in the mornings and I think my lovebirds are actually boycotting me because they want their seed so maybe I’ll add their seed in with their pellets at night, maybe that’ll help me. Thank you so much. You really inspired me how to take care of my birds I appreciate it. Thank you again. I’m just worried that they won’t eat their pallets if I give them seed.
Your welcome. I wouldn't worry to much if they don't eat their pellets. As long as they are eating various fresh foods and sprouted seeds, grains and legumes, they can have a bit of seed. Try different brands of pellets to see which ones they like.
Hi Donna, need advice for bird choice. Have had several cockateils 1 at a time over the years, currently birdless. Have decided I cannot have another cockateil due to issues you and I know about. What would be your next choice for a personable bird buddy ? Cannot be large and cannot be a budgie.
Hi, its hard for me to choose a bird without knowing more details. It depends on what you want in a bird. Do you want a bird that can be cuddly or a more independent? What noise level can you deal with and activity wise? Conures can be cuddly but are prone to nipping and may not be cuddly or want to be touched as all birds are individuals. Bourke Parakeets are nice and quiet birds, however they do not like to be touched and don't necessarily play with toys and can be docile during the day. They are most active in the mornings and evenings. Finches and Canaries are more independent and have beautiful songs. Kakarikis are quick, funny and very active birds Howe they don't like to be touched very much. Linnies are a nice small bird, however they have very large and wet droppings and a loud contact call and can be phobic at times. Parrotlets can make a nice pet especially if its the only pet as they can be aggressive to other birds. They have cute quiet sounds and can be trained to do tricks and can be cuddly. Lovebirds are similar. Hope this helps.
Hi Donna, as per my post "personable" kind of like a cockateil (them being the "puppy dogs" of the bird world) or as close as possible. In my 70's now so have to avoid the dust.
Shoutout to your husband for being so supportive of your birdkeeping!
Yes ! You are amazing, Donna, but as a Bird Lady, myself, I only WISH I had a hubby so supportive as your great husband ❤❤❤

Hi Donna. I just got a parrot myself. Starting to really love them.
Wonderful! What kind of bird did you get?

Your birdroom is always beautiful and colourful, always plenty to do lots of hard work though lol awesome.
So true!
So cute
Have you ever thought of getting silky chickens? They are fluffy & adorable 🐥🥰
I would love Chicken's but my city does allow it.
Do they allow quail? The females are quiet and the eggs are delicious. @@Loveofpets

Canaries and Finches are hands off birds and its possible that they can stay alone if necessary but its best to have someone check on them
I just found out that the grit for the bird is no good for them. That they do not need it. Is this true? Thank you Debbie
Hookbills do not need Grit as they can hull their seeds and Grit can cause crop impaction
I have two cocktails ,does the no grit apply to them too. Thank you
Yes no grit especially for cockatiels.
Cockatiels don't need Grit. They can hull their seeds. Hope this helps

Hi, its best to use fresh but if it's all got you can but make sure you rinse them as they are salty.
