Dr Miller, you are a wonderful person. Ever since I saw the first episode of ‘Vet on the Hill’ and experienced how empathetic and caring you were not only with your patients, but also with their owners, I was overwhelmed. Never before had I seen a vet who was as empathetic as you, who showed so much compassion and who was so dedicated to his profession. It would be wonderful if there were more people like you in this world.
The fact that you now share so much more from your private life with us makes you even more likeable than you already are. I consider it a privilege to be able to accompany you here on TH-cam and I wish you and your loved ones all the best. Please take good care of yourself and stay the way you are.

My personal vet and dear friend of over 25 years has been struggling with his own pitfalls of being a caring committed vet and the negative experiences you have faced in your own career. He often tells me that there are moments when he just wants to leave private practice and hide from all the pain, suffering and negligence that he deals with on a regular basis. I am retired from 45 years as an intensive care nurse and see that familiar look in his eye that often took me into dark places.
But as we all have to work through what brings us peace and fulfillment in our lives, it it so important to say and show that we care about them and how they have made life better for so many that have crossed our paths. Vets deserve the highest praise !!! One can never tell a person enough, how much they make a difference in the world! And like my vet who has been with me through the best and the worst……. Vets make the world a better place❤!

We adopted what we thought was a border collie mix puppy from rescue. We usually get older dogs but after losing a few older dogs in close succession we needed a rest for our hearts. But it turns out she's 200% border collie and has so much energy, need for mental stimulation, and she's just fabulous. Rescue is everything.

Scott, euthanasia is definitely the worst part of the job. I was training to be a vet in my teens-one of those kids who loves animals, involved in wildlife rescue, paired up with a family vet who wanted to train someone and send them to vet school to inherit his practice-and then, there was euthanasia. Some adults brought in two old small lap dogs, probably Shih Tzu mixes but I don’t remember. The dogs had cataracts but were otherwise okay; they had belonged to the adults’ parents, who had been moved into assisted-living. None of the children wanted the responsibility of the dogs, so they had brought them in to be euthanized. Having already been involved in rescues, I was pretty horrified by this, but I was told to insert the catheters, etc. I guess the vet figured out I was really unhappy about the entire case, so he made me do the first dog. To my horror to this day, I did. And then burst into tears, ran out of the practice and never went back.
I understand that ethics in the field have changed pretty drastically since then-this would have been over 30 years ago at this point, which is still hard to believe, when did I get old? 😂 But I’m curious what you think about euthanasia on demand like that, when there isn’t a quality of life issue. Has that ever been a thing in the UK or Australia? Have you seen attitudes changing? And what do you think about veterinarians adopting more codified ethics, like medical doctors? I know Noel Fitzpatrick has an ethics council in his practice for all difficult cases, and his was the first place I’ve heard of to take that step and mirror human ethics committees. As a medical ethicist, I’m fascinated and am thinking of doing ethnographic research on it, since it would let me merge my early love with latter passions.

Sir, I have watched you since I found Bondi Vets. Since seeing your daughter the other day, I am sure you are the PROUDEST man on the Planet, Mango is going to be great for you. Good luck. I lost my Brok April 8th 2023 he was my heart dog. But I have Brad and he has saved me from despair. Good luck. 🐶🐶

Hello from United States. I am really happy you decided to have you're own show. I admire all that you do as a Vet and for the Love of all animals. I love animals and if I was younger I would be a vet technician. Keep up the rescuing saving those poor animals.❤

Dr. Miller you are OOK human being, I followed you since Bondai Vet and I have always admired your dedication and compassion for animals and owners, sorry to hear about your separation from Zoe, your autism and depression, Thank you so much for letting us to know you better as a person, it takes courage and honesty to share your inner self with the world, I’ve had depression and anxiety for years and it is not easy, but you seemed to manage very well, if I admired you and respected you before, that has only grown so much more, you make a huge difference in the world, and know that you are loved by over 50k people.God always bless you for being who you are and may God bless your family as well; and I am sure from above Betty approves of handsome Mango.

12:40 I am listening to this just after a trip to the vet. I personally saw just the emotions that the vets experiences. While I was waiting my turn, they had two dogs to put down, and one dog with broken back. Then it was my turn to be seen with my very spicy 6 weeks old kitten. From heart break to every one wanting to see Jack. I believe the statement about suicide rate among vets
My husband was a pastor. He did take his life. Pastors see the good, the bad, and the ugly. Stay strong Dr. Scott
You may feel your life spinning. It will stop and you will find your balance. Prayers for you your loved ones.

I work in a pound/shelter. I can assure you that it is very difficult at times to work in the animal welfare field. We have all cried and laughed. The hardest part is cruelty/neglect cases - that kills me every time. It explains why vet staff have a high suicide rate.

@kristinjacobsen3417 thank you for kind words. I can assure you that pastors need all the prayers and kind words that you can give them
They often hear the complaints, but do not hear nearly enough of the good.

@onemuckypup9823 that would be very hard. I am sure you see the most horrible things that are done to helpless pets. Breaks my heart.

I know how you feel. I know it's not quite the same, but I lost my rabbit on 22nd March 2023 (which is also my brother's bday) and I still think of him. He was one of my bestest, bestest friends. It's never easy losing your best friend, whether human or animal. They are part of our family. What has helped me is creating photo albums for myself to look back on when I am missing him. I'm sending you so much love and lots of hugs!! ❤️

Vet on the Hill, has always been a favourite, being animal lovers. I introduced dogs to my family, my husband was never brought up with any. Me however, have. Labradors as a child, Guinea pigs etc, to small dogs. I introduced a Newfoundland to my family, they all have fond memories of her. Ajax was just a dog who loved company. Then we moved to Western Australia, still live in this lovely city. Moved for the weather. 😂 Lost two small dogs, Jazz, chihuahua, adorable, fun little girl. Doogle, dachshund. Both were crosses. Again both adorable. Sadly we lost Jazz last year, broke our hearts, brain tumour at 12. Doogle this year, bladder and prostrate cancer, age 13. We have two replacements, similar breeds, both bitches. They both got to meet Doogle. Doogle missed Jazz so much, it helped him bringing puppies into his world. I have two children with ADHD, my Husband has just been diagnosed with it. Answers a lot of questions. I think dogs in a family help no end for different reasons. We love your show, and understand the need to do something different. Sorry to hear about your personal relationship. I wish you well on the outcome of that. Very pleased to hear of your new adventure. As for us, not seeing Dr Scott on our TV, would leave a hole. Your kindness, look on life, passion, your whole aura just glows. To talk so openly about your very personal life, is brave. Hat off to you young man. Now as a family we can tune in to your new series, and also the updates on Mango. He’s beautiful. Those eyes. I know you’re having issues, but please be kind to yourself also. As for questions, there have been some excellent ones raised. For now I do not have one to ask. Love to you Scott and your family. You are amazing and so is your family. ❤️
