B&B Amsterdam. I love this place for their lunches! For this breakfast test they were not the cheapest though...
Ikea Amsterdam - Budget breakfast for one euro only! Pretty far out of town though...
Hema and Bakker Bart on the Kalverstraat. Right at the center. Note Hema opens at 9 o'clock but Bakker Bart only at 9.30.
Jumbo foodmarket. It's in north, but one of my favorites. Only 1,50 euro - very good quality food and a great ambiance. If the last spot wouldn't be there, this would be my favorite by far!
La Place at the top of the OBA (Amsterdam library). Here you can create your own breakfast, with cinnamon cookies or yoghurt, fresh fruit, granola, eggs - you name it. When the weather is good, go sit outside, the views over Amsterdam are amazing! For 3,25 euro each - you'll have an amazing starter of the day.

I lived in Amsterdam for 10 years because I knew there was nowhere else on earth like it. Now, it looks like everywhere else, square and plastic, so I don't need to go there anymore. I can't help but think of what Rembrandt might think of his once beautiful city. But I can say the you did a Very good job and I will watch every vlog you make, knowing that I am getting quality. Excellent video! My regular breakfast stop in Amsterdam is Cafe Karpershoek. OK. Not really but I always stop there for a pint after leaving the station...even before checking in to my hotel so it is how I start my day/night in your lovely city. Proost!

+Travel Gretl Actually it's quite unremarkable except that it's the oldest pub in Amsterdam (1606). I like old and historic establishments even when the only thing going for them is that they are old and historic. 🤔😀

:) No, it was impossible. Took me two days really. Ikea and Jumbo are on the other side of town so by the time you arrive, breakfast is finished ;)

I went to there two days ago. Thanks for the type, it was a very good breakfast indeed but the price it's not this anymore. I had to pay each things that I choose it.in a separate price. Anyway thank you, the view is very nice indeed and as I just said the food as well.

I just happened to find your channel through the "WAY AWAY" today and I really like it. One question as a German: Is the breakfast offer at IKEA written correctly? Is it really "Kaiserbroodje" in Dutch (Kaiser is the German word for emperor) or should it be "Keizerbroodje".

I still have to get to Amsterdam. Maybe next year who knows. Wouldn't have thought to go to Ikea, but I am not surprised. A lot of people eat in Ikea here sometimes. At least the bread is a bit more filling.

Gedempt Hamerkanaal 223 - it's up north, so you need to take the ferry (the one mostly on the right) and then it's a few minutes by bike or a bit longer hiking.

No worries there :) We have Shangri-La - Litang - Tagong - Chengdu - haha, too much to come up still :D It was just: I was editing in my room under the hot roof and I thought: why am I inside? I should go out! That's why this one came in between :) There will also be a sugary one coming up ;) After two days of food and too much sun I am a happy editing girl again!

I bet, I'll be travelling to Amsterdam next month, your video was quite helpful. In America we'd normally eat oat meal or grits or pancakes along with eggs may be some steak too for break fast (That's why we are known as fat Americans) but looking forward to try the Dutch breakfast, looks very light and not much protein.May be I need to eat 2 breakfast since I'll be exploring Amsterdam on foot.
You won't get a bike?! It's the ultimate Amsterdam experience ;) And all the local will drive miles around you with their bikes, since they know tourists on bikes are chaos, and they don't want to kill anyone ;)
I guess in hotels they serve American breakfast many times. Think the Dutch food culture is not shockingly amazing to be honest. But there are some sweets to be tried :D
Oh yeah totally, will get a bike, come on now in America we do ride bikes all the time :P Nah I'm not gonna be one of those picky Americans who'd only eat "AMERICAN BREAKFAST" I'd rather love to try varieties. +David B it's the 'oba' - if you google oba amsterdam you'll find it! It is close to central station, but not on the ferry side.
Bread, yoghurt, eggs, juice... it's all available 😊😊
Oh... Now I see the nice Google map you prepared with the locations under "show more".
For whatever reason, I have found the area just east of the Centraal Station to be a little confusing.
(Thought not as confusing as parts of the Old South with it maze of residential streets.)
Any tips? The library seems like a real find and I'd like to visit it next time!

Croissant with Jam(Marmelade) is actually considered kind of a luxury breakfast here, that's why most of the shops serve it. Normally we just eat bread with meat, cheese or sweets ^^

Went to the Oba library. Balcony was closed and the food was rather underwhelming and limited. And not cheap. Enjoy your videos though
Sorry to hear! Could be closed because of the winter. The food is not special perse, that's true. It's good for a cheaper breakfast, but I'd not recommend it for dinner!

No - Yupe would be Joep in Dutch. Take the 'O' like the first one in tomato. Stretch that 'O' a bit and there you have it! Don't know how else to describe it really...

@@TravelGretl Hi I was upstairs at the top floor last week and there is no more breakfast like that, only tea/coffee, smoothee, or various dessert style cakes, the kitchen area was only preparing lunch for later in the day. Such a shame it looked cool a few years ago.

Ikea is thé place where they want you to stay/shop, a whole day. I think the concept is the same where ever they are, but i;m not sure. Over here you have Nursery's, and playgrounds, where your children can play while you shop. Stop for cheap breakfast, lunch and dinner, just to make you stay and buy stuff. Going to Ikea, on the second day of Easter, is a day "out", for a lot of people, here. And on that day, the place is packed!

1 Euro = 55 php for breakfast, I think I can afford that....That really shows the Dutch like you has strong bone, muscles and sharp mind to think because of the foods (specially those dairy products) you eat and drink are really nutritious...
