  • Day 2 - Interrail Travel Vlog.
For the next two months, my girlfriend, Sally, and I will be traveling all across Europe - by train. We got an Interrail ticket and will explore as much as we can, showing all we got up to - the good and the bad.
This is Day 2, and we're exploring Amsterdam - seeing how far $100 dollars per person can get us.

Cool free stuff in Amsterdam for a budget day: The ferries behind Central Station are free. Take the one to the NDSM wharf in the North, it takes about 20 minutes and its basically a free river tour. It can get busy during rush hour of course. The NDSM wharf itself really is an interesting area with lots of modern art in a former industrial enviroment. The main NDSM building is also free to enter and many local artists have their workspace there so plenty to see. Also free is of course the main branch of the public library, the OBA, also near Central Station and just 5-10 minutes walk from the ferry docks. Its a very large modern building with lots of places to chill but the best part is the viewing platform on the top floor which faces directly towards the old town. This alone will provide you with activities for the best part of the day, completely free and its also a bit off the beaten track so perfect for a more unique Amsterdam experience! Another tip: When you buy food at an Albert Heijn supermarket like in the video, ask for a free discount card, "Bonus Card". They just hand these out and may save you a couple of euro's on things you were planning on buying anyway.

If you plan on doing a few of the things it includes, museums, canal cruise etc, it’s definitely worth it and can probably save you a good bit of money.
