No, this isn't the optimal build but it is serviceable. Though this isn't Pyrac's fault but more so the bowgun's playerbase being absolute nuts with minmaxxing and calculating optimal dmg builds
pierce 2 tends to have less recoil when rapid fired and has more guns that can rapid fire it. Also while a full pierce 3 shot with all ticks is more dmg than a full pierce 2 shot, the individual ticks of pierce 2 do more dmg. So since a pierce 3 needs to hit all ticks to out dmg a pierce 2, pierce 2 tends to be more consistent because hitting 5 ticks consistently for pierce 3, even on long monsters like amatsu, is rather hard and a full pierce 2 out damages a partial pierce 3.
@@timpike8559 dual blades are just barely in the top 3 of melee, by far best melee is GS (also the most boring IMO, and I'm a GS main usually) followed by elemental switch axe, and then dual blades. I'm going off speedrun data for freestyle, so don't take that as actual hunt with casuals dps. For a lot of casual hunters myself included dual blades would prob yield you better times on some end game monsters unless you really know how to counter often. Ranged weapons are always more boring I can't bring myself to enjoy bowguns in rise or world at all, bow I kinda enjoy in world and its a bit better in rise because of melee counter, aerial aim being fun and super critical distance aiming on bolt boost with ballistics being its own mini game. Overall looking at speedrun data while ranged weapons as usual are super far away, the melee weapons are kinda close in dps. If you know what you are doing and random dual blade user is so so you can easily out dps dbs with an elemental HH. I do wish gunlance was stronger but at least we don't have slap lance problem :(

And gs is super easy he has such big openings u can get of so many tsc if u do not fully charge them

Lbg and bow are the most dbs weapon in this game , playing mh with range weapon is weird (this is my opponent)
