  • Water runoff from heavy rains makes it possible to check an area I have always been curious about inside Uwharrie National Forest

    More rain today, looks like a better year for small creeks too.

    Need to make you hand dredge. Found a good spot last sat that nobody messed with cuz they didn't wanna dig in and break up clay. Just kept sucking the top After moving the big rocks outta the way. About a 5 ft area where the fast water flowed. Spent all day running half buckets of stuff sucked off the clay over and over agian. Had the best day so far this year doing that. Just wanna add without that shrimp pump I would've have had half the gold I've gotten in the last 3 yrs without it. Nice day on the creek thanks for bringing us along. 👍

      That hand dredging is quite a workout. I've had some luck lately using one but I'm still a shovel lover at heart. 😁

      Thanks Keith! I'm always looking for that anomaly. I don't think I have ever come across so much gold "micro dust" 😂

    Spring and the frogs 🐸 will soon arrive and you might have found a new place to dig ... Your findings and that miniature horse 🐎 shoe flake should be a starting point for a new adventure ???? 😊

      I actually did a second day of that "gulley" prospecting in a different area which has decent gold but more interesting to me, honeycombed quartz. I'm hoping to see what's in the samples I've brought home.

      I'm here at Uwharrie and the frogs are out hopping around on this beautiful 70 degree February day!

      I missed out on today thanks to a cold. How did you do out there today?

      The water is high and fast from the rain up north. I got a few flakes for 2 hours of prospecting. Will be there tomorrow looking for some flood gold.

    Hi Lee,
    No matter what the result was, I would have taken advantage of the water flow.
    You should always try ⚒👍🤠

      Yes, I will definitely drop better gold that I can come back to later in order to take advantage of a rare opportunity to learn about a new spot

      I like pieces of gold big enough to resemble items. So far, I remember getting a guitar 🎸, a horse 🐎, a fish 🐠, and my prized Kellogg's corn flake 😁

    I got a little bit of pay from around a stump today that looks exactly like that one that floods big time only when it rains other than that it's dry, I haven't had a chance to pan it out yet.

    What's your preferred method of cleaning up all that black sand concentrate Mr Lee ? Great finds for a warsh gully !

    • @LeeHendrixGold
      @LeeHendrixGold  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If I'm not in a rush for time, I like to get my gold cleaned up pretty good at the creek using the snakeskin section of my pan. I will then dry it up at home and use a magnet to get anything magnetic out that's still left. Nobody wants a dirty trophy, right? What's your preferred method for cleaning?

    You ever try the Uwharrie River?

    • @LeeHendrixGold
      @LeeHendrixGold  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That's where I started and found my first piece of gold and got yeller fever. I learned quickly that there are places with a lot less black sand and gold that is easier to get to
