    Made some Mackerel lures with white telephone extension cable after watching your video, they work really well and far more robust than shop brought feathers! Thanks for sharing this video. Not sure the tackle shop owners will thank you though! :-)

    Haven't used your lures I made over the winter as no mackerel here yet. Only as far as Chesil and Weymouth so I'm told. I once used a Mr Kipling apple pie tin foil pinched round the hooks and caught a few after a shop bought trace got a bit munched. Think your elec flex lures will be very hard wearing! Great tip. How did you come up with it?

    • @Trojwaterman
      @Trojwaterman  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Many years ago when I was skint a bit like now :) I made some with red and black cable and they were very successful for mackerel. I then wanted to design something that could catch bass so I made large white ones. On the first test run I caught a 4lb and 6lb bass at the same time, that was an interesting moment. It kind of went from there a lure that will catch mackerel pollock and will pick up bass now and again. They also ended up catching many other species they just simulate a small shoal of fish and are not overly complicated. Simple yet effective .

    Many thanks for putting me on to this video and will certainly try these out. I saw in another video of yours saying to use large hooks for Bass / Pollock and smaller ones for Mackerel, but I have seen videos where you are catching Mackerel and Bass and wondered if you have found an optimum size that can catch both ?

    • @Trojwaterman
      @Trojwaterman  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      probably 4/0 if you include mackerel You can go to 6/0 if targeting Pollock, bass and still want to catch some mackerel. The problem you can run into is 4/0 is fine for bass pollock but if you hook more than 1 large fish they can fight against each other which can bend hooks out. Just choose the hooks for what fish you would prefer to catch that day or in most cases whats there. Some times I just keep 2 rods set up with different sizes

    • @robertpaterson7311
      @robertpaterson7311 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Trojwaterman Understand and appreciate your help. Where I fish I am unlikely to catch more than one bass at a time and the pollock are really small so I'll try the 4/0 initially. Many thanks for the videos and hope all OK in these strange times

    • @Trojwaterman
      @Trojwaterman  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The fuel is just a fuel can in the back with fuel line straight through the seat The electrics would be hard to show as they are all hidden The the bilge pump is just 2 wires from battery to pump with a float switch in between the live wire. Then you have a Manuel switch with 2 wires that bridge the float switch so you can switch on anytime.
