Thanks for another how too master class Billy. I went through loads of shop bought feathers this year, some only lasted 3 or 4 casts before they started to fall apart and at almost 2 quid a go it soon mounts up to a small fortune. I'll be making my own in future now I know how. Thanks again and I'm looking forward to your next vid, Graham.
I caught 2 massive mackerel on your red/silver rigs with 1/0 hooks in the north of england! Thank you, I will make them from now on. One bit of advice too that I do. Make a 6 inches loop with weaker line than your rig and use this to attach your lead to the bottom swivel. This is so that you can keep your rig if your lead gets snagged. This will save you loosing rigs!
brother billy good to see you on top form mate everyone should make and tie all their own rigs its part of the challenge , i will tie a few of yours up and give them a go on the south coast here , take care bro
Started making my own few years back. Was fed up paying for them after 2/3 casts only left with a hook and no flash left on the shank . Great video Billy see ya on the beach 👍
Hi John. Once you get the hang of it you won't look back. The fluorocarbon I got from AliExpress there's lots and offer and it's cheap. Thanks Brother, fish on 👍😁
I see that the feather leader is inside of the loop knot but what hold the leader from sliding out of the knot? Is it just held in by the compression of the knot?
Hi Paul, fishing is so much more than just deranging fish from up the deep, when I make my own tackle the urge to get it fishing is overwhelming. thanks brother 😁👍
I've made many hundreds of flies for trout, sea trout, salmon. Small mackerel feathers to 16oz pirks but never once did I think to use lumi tube on them for a bit of glow. . I'll definitely be making some lumibills, I'll bet they're deadly for codling, pollack and whiting too 👍
@@Billyfishing_watch I caught 32 mackerel in as many minutes yesterday 1st of Feb in wales using my lazy man version. Make your droppers, thread on a bead, then about 40mm of 2mm I.D lumi (I used pink and green) tie hook on, wrap desired sparkle around line above knot about six times, spit and slide lumi half way down shank to trap sparkle trim off sparkle to desired length and boom. 🎣 👍
[WARNING, winge ahead]. Cheap mackerel feathers always reminds me of picking up discarded tackle after careless b£$×&rds on Balscadden cliffs at Howth, who have no problems leaving their poorly used crap around to maim the local wildlife. Apart from that, nice mack rig. Always preferred homemade feathers. I'll usually use a 40-50g metal lure in place of the lead weight.
I will have a go at making some of those. Thanks for the tutorial.
Please do!, thanks bud 😁👌
