Thanks for showing the base model. I hate it when videos show the premium models, which most of them do, when the rest of us just want to see the base. Thanks again.
Kyle, not only am i watching the best car reviews on youtube, but also in your videos the music is coincidentally to my taste, like for example, "Mysterious Ways" by U2 is playing in the Sonata Hybrid, one of my personal favorites! Thanks again Kyle for your awesome reviews and even some great music to go along with it apparently Lol u rock man!
I think what Kyle may want to consider doing is instead of explaining the smart key access system every time in the video would be to just make a video on the car, say what car it is, and then demonstrate the key. After this is done, post it as an annotation so that if you would like to learn more you can click on it for yourself.
Thanks for making this! I'm thinking about buying one of these and this is the only GOOD review on this car that I could find. Now I'm definitely buying one because it seems like a great little car. Thanks again!
Okay, one question regarding the keyless entry and drive. When you leave the vehicle with the key in your pocket, it beeps indicating it lost the proximity with the keyfob. But the vehicle continues working and with the window opened. What happens if you go far away with the key in your pocket and the car is still running?
Hey Kyle, do you think you can do a review of Sonata Hybrid with the Premium Package (if they have one in stock)? I would love to see you do a review with all of those features. I'm a major Hyundai fan and I'm glad you do all of these reviews. Keep up the awesome work!
Why, if you haven't moved yet, would the gas engine start up? Shouldn't it run on the electric motor unless it becomes necessary for more power or the batteries can't keep up anymore? Seems strange that at a stand still, the combustion engine would engage.
IMO, the Sonata Hybrid is SO much better than any of its rivals. I also like how Hyundai implemented a 6 speed auto instead of those terrible CVT "transmissions."
@MyRandomReviews there's another channel mpgomatic, that has tested many cars to get most efficient, and Vw cc has gotten much better mpg then what was written up, epa numbers usually are not close to what you actually get.
@TheFrostyDealer - I think you've got it right there. US petrol is different to UK petrol in octane levels. I believe US fuel is lower octane, probably because it's so much cheaper!
I don't understand why the chrome strip isn't present at the top of the doors. It goes from chrome at the front, to black on the doors, then back to chrome at the back again. The non-hybrid version is not like that. Odd design choice.
I couldn't even tell it went into hybrid mode. I think CNET didn't care for the powertrain much for some reason, but I like it a lot from what I've seen.
@MisterWordman That's absolutely correct. Well, depending on what kind of car you own because hatchbacks usually don't do that well. The small sedans will definitely give you great gas mileage no doubt though. I'm old fashioned though in that I won't buy cars based on fuel efficiency, I will buy them based on how much I like them and for enjoyment of driving them. Not many people still follow that policy.
the engine on the 2010-present Hyundai Sonata/ Hyundai i45 (Australasia and Singapore)/ Hyundai i40 (Western Europe) Engine 2.0 L Theta 162 hp (121 kW), I4 2.0 L Theta Turbo 274 hp (204 kW), I4 2.4 L Theta 178 hp (133 kW), I4 2.4 L Theta GDi, 200 hp (150 kW), I4
Kyle, in the future can you also comment on the quality of interior materials used? i.e. generally what parts are soft touch plastic if any, and what parts are hard etc...
@strumem90 - It's a US car, the company who is responsible for it is Korean, this is a Korean company's car targeted and manufactured in the US. I say what's up with American cars because the VW Jetta gets 15MPG less in the US than it does in the UK, that's because it's the American version of the Jetta - hence and American car.
@GMchevygmc - That has nothing to do with it, I'm talking about American versions of exactly the same cars doing many less MPG then their European counterpart. Volkswagen Jetta 2.0TDI US: 42 US MPG HWY Volkswagen Jetta 2.0TDI UK: 51 US MPG HWY (derived from 62 UK MPG Extra-Urban)
@Wheelman286 They're designed to be aerodynamic and therefore have very small gaps. In Europe at hybrids aren't as popular, but it's now very common to make cars with versions like BlueDrive that have small diesels, higher gear ratios, charging the battery when coasting and braking and subtle aerodynamic changes like these rims. Volvo uses the name Drive and has a V50 with over 50 US MPG, great for a big wagon, but it has the most horrible looking rims :P Google V50 drive 1.6
hyundai should award customers instead of just with planets... actual incentives, like rebates on future cars, gas cards, etc. I believe that would be a much better idea
I laughed when you said start it up because for a Hybrid it's more like, turn it on! Lol. Personally, I think the whole Hybrid idea is stupid. People are much better off buying a fuel efficient 4 cylinder alone. They'd sure be guaranteed to have a lot less electrical issues. Plus all of the money you save on gas with these just gets invested into the special batteries they take that I've heard cost anywhere from $500-$1000 which is insane! I'll never own one. Good review though!
@CLEVERusername1231 - It's not that simple, you can't just put water into the fuel cells. Unless you have a water distilling plant on board - which it near impossible considering it needs electrical energy to extract the hydrogen from the water.
Thanks for showing the base model. I hate it when videos show the premium models, which most of them do, when the rest of us just want to see the base. Thanks again.
finally fast enough to see one of kyle's vids in 240p? YESSSS!

One of my uncles own this 2011 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid. It's also the same as the Hyundai in your video.

Did you buy one ?
MichaelDoesStuff Videos did u buy one?
Martez Post god no we ended up getting a Volvo s80
What’s the problem with the car ?
The wheels are not primarily designed for looks. They are designed to reduce air resistance.
My moms oldest sister had this car a few years ago. It had a little bit of flaws but hers was red with brown cloth!

I bought a 2015 it's very nice and quiet I love it and it's worth it
Yeah, took a taxi wich was a sonata hybrid. I was surprised how comfortable and quiet it was!
Great review, like always, Kyle.

right as he closes the door, all the traffic background noise shuts out and gets sooo silent
such a nice car btw
This car is what we use to learn how to drive in my vocational school and UGH its grown on me.

How far will it go on a full electric charge, and how and where do you charge it up??
Very nice, you should have shown that energy flow display while driving, at the end of the video.

@7477238 agreed. a small car or evena mid size equipped with a DI diesel lasts for ages, and is economical regardless of weight of car plus occupants

why can't hyundai just make a sensor on the back of the handle to unlock like everyone else? instead of just the button. it's just so much nicer.
