I could listen to him every single day. He always has something important to share and his manner of sharing is always so clear and prompts reflection. Thank you, Bishop!
How is it possibly ethical to suggest the equivalent of a notion we all travel with one foot in a stranger's fantasyland, using fictional vocabulary: prophecy, prayer, etc.? We have Moses: World's worst navigator, leading a party as if travel were best done with one foot in fantasyland.
God gives us strength to overcome our struggles. It is a struggle to provide for my children, as a single mother my sons are special needs, and require much from me but I know God will give me the strength and courage that I need. So while I struggle to buy groceries and while I struggle to pay rent. I will keep faith and praise God ALWAYS!
You oversimplify. That is to say, a great many don't go on to overcome their struggles. They're not able to. But no doubt God makes it up to them by letting them into his heaven.
Observing the Sabbath is SUCH a blessing. Set things up through the week and on Saturday so that quiet and relaxation are possible when the sun sets on Saturday. Enjoy protected time until the sun sets on Sunday. That leaves plenty of time to ponder what has to happen on Monday.
@@esthert9146 Certainly there are weighty reasons to work on Sunday-- particularly in medicine and in the military, police, etc., but when there are not such weighty reasons, do try it.
Dear@@esthert9146, saving lives is doing God's will. Do you have a spiritual director, or can you talk with your pastor? I don't think the Lord wants you to not be at peace, when you have chosen such a noble area to work in!!(I was a nursing assistant, and being there to bring a bedpan, or lunch, or to move the pillows is a form of saving a life, one act at a time.)
Thank you, bishop. Reconciling with family is difficult, but I saw that with God it is possible, He heals us and shows us the healthiest boundaries for our specific situation. Many of us have reasons to hate our parents. When I converted I understood I had to try to forgive them and all I could do was cry and grieve. But I brought to confession all my rage and negative feel and wounds, and that was enough. True healing happens at confession through the priest and the simple act of kneeling in front of the Heavenly Father. I was finally able to look at my parents as people, not parts of me, my negative inner voices and my past, but just people, with their own story and wounds, who nevertheless tried their best with me, even though it wasn't enough to save me as a kid, I still recognized their efforts. I was able make the relationship healthier because God's grace had dealt with my own unbearable pain. And God did that for me many more times in my life. He's faithful. He can do anything and He can help us not break under the evil around us.
Thank you for reminding us all these important teachings to keep us in the right path always towards our loving creator, Jesus Christ! Take care BishopB!
Love of ones' family isn't always possible - this is truly an oversimplification. When you've been neglected, damaged, and actively harmed to the point of cruelty, it's a matter of sheer survival to separate from that cauldron and, in essence, divorce yourself from that ongoing harm/damage/danger. I trust God understands the complexities and issues when one has to do that - and suffering/bearing ones' cross as a result, is painful for the arch of ones' life. Again, God understands and loves us in those situations. I am one of them.
I’m sorry about your family situation. I think you might be over simplifying what love in this case means. If you’re striving to forgive, you are loving them, even if you have to put distance between you two. If you pray for them, you are loving them, again even if at a distance. You have to watch your heart, and see if bitterness and bad will toward the other exists, and repentance is the only solution to that. Sometimes these wounds are so deep that it might take a lifetime to deal with them, but don’t be discouraged.
@@himl994 Yes. Love isn't warm fuzzy feelings. I don't believe thats what God is asking of us. Aquinas defines it as the choice to will the good of the other and sharing in the good as constitutive of your own.
I feel like the Lord is asking this to me these days: go back to the basics of your Faith! Become like a child! It’s not easy for my unfortunately prideful heart, but throught His Grace I’m gonna do it! God bless ❤
Believers are no longer under JEWISH commandments under the Old Covenant. Are you a Jew? Believers are under GRACE and under a NEW Covenant. Read Romans.
I had to listen to it twice because this sermon is so simple and amazing for personal reflection. I gonna save it for reflection every time before I go for confession. There are so many examination of conscience out on the internet and non of them have the points that Bishop Barron speaks about. So thankyou Bishop and May God bless you and Love you and you ministry
Yes, the Most Reverend Bishop Barron is such a gifted teacher. For more of him as well as the best examens I’ve found thus far, I will forever tout the Hallow app.
I have seen many evangelical pastors violating the command mentioned in 3:30. Taking God's name in vain could also mean talking about God irresponsibly, or to take advantage of people using God's name, or even worse, making people believe something I say or want is the will of God, when in reality is not.
The Lord gives us Ten Commandments to develop our virtues, showing that God is so love the world and want us to be perfect as Him! ❤❤❤ We truly love You O’ Lord! Thank you Lord for Your Goodness and Bishop Barron!
Thank you, dear Bishop, for always teaching truth to us. God gave us a free will so that we could be creative and free. It seems to me, especially after carefully listening to this eye-opening sermon, that that's the direction the 10 Commandments are meant to lead us or guide us to. I thank God for so much clarity. Clarity and harmony in our relationship to our loving, living Lord Jesus and in our relationships with others, allowing His love to flow out into the world, as you said. Thank you. Greetings to all from Argentina.
Great analogy to go to confession with the emphasis on the Ten Commandments. Thank you Bishop Barron for this sermon. May God bless you and keep you in his loving arms. 😇
Hello Bishop Barron, God has found me recently and changed my life completely as somebody who had never seen any point or good in believing. I wanted to say thank you very much for these videos, I love the way you describe different aspects of Christianity and I'm always left feeling motivated and full of love for our God. Thank you and I hope you have a wonderful day! 😄

Beautiful sermon. It's true that these ten commandments help us to examine our conscience and help with the confessions. We must desire things for ourselves and not desire things belonging to others. Thank you so much for your work, Bishop Barron

Thank you Bishop B. I've missed your homilies. That COVID year you carried us so well. My mother and I got used to Mass in your chapel and missed it whenever you stopped. Your lectures, I have favorites that are timeless and I remember the ones that got me interested in Catholicism again.
When Christ Jesus fully fleshed out the Ten Commandments it was 14 generations after Moses. He added depth and in a way more complex interpretations to God's law. I would suggest that the passages where Christ explains these things in the New Testament challenge us to a still higher standard.
So apropos to what is occurring around us. Many of the infractions against the 10 Commandments would seem to stem from a lack of self respect- how can you love/respect your neighbor if you cannot love/respect yourself?
Thanks Bishop Barron's for this great reminder as well as a Great definition of each commandment. So true if we don't pay attention to the first 3 commandment the other 7 get lost.
Hi Bishop Barron, thank you for the great explanation and reminder, about the 10 commandments. I have written along and will definitely try to go through this every night. I did have one question for you, if I read Exodus correctly it says, 20:5 ... I am a jealous God to those who hate Me ... 20:6 But to those who love Me and keep My commandments .... Then the conclusion is that what people make is very different? Here I think it is clearly about those who hate Him or those who love Him. 20:6 I find even more interesting if you (I think) read the word “and” carefully. Love Him “and” keep His commandments, WoW 🤩 I am very happy with all your lessons, in a very short time I have already learned a lot from you. Super Super thanks 🙏 Of course I will pass on everything I hear from you 🎉🎉🤩👍🙏 God bless you and your many works 🔥👍🙏🙏🙏
