    i think i have an impeller issue Any idea what would cause the pulley to not spin

      Good morning & thanks for the question... if the pulley is not spinning, could be the bearings are seized or the impeller has fallen apart and is restricting rotation of the pump. The first thing I would do it remove the belt and try to rotate the pulley by hand. If that doesn't work, you will need to remove the pump, disassemble and inspect the internal components. Let me know what you determine from your inspection!

    Most manufacture recommends to change impeller every 50 hour or annually. 5 years would be way too long.

      Thanks for that input. 50 hours is SHORT. I did another video as a follow-up where I recommended changing the impeller much more often.

      @@DrivingIntelligence I would agree, 5 years is too long but every season is unnecessary as well. I do mine every other year now after the last failure.

      Agreed, 5 years is way too long. More than every other year is taking a chance on failure. Also, it's a good idea to carry a spare kit on your boat. I sucked up a twig or rock a few years back which locked up the pump with it screeching like a banshee leading to immediate over heating due to the failure. The spare kit got me home.

    Did you ever fry a impeller !! Now pieces are all throughout my 305 Chevy motor water jackets. Going to be a major job trying to blow those out.Have you ever seen this!!!!

      I did, and it was ugly. I didn't flush the block, but I did disassemble the cooling system from the pump to the block to remove all the particles.

    similar issue where I have had to replace two of the plastic pump bodies due to cracking . Have you experienced this issue ? Looks like we have the same boat,mine is a 1999 Sangair model I purchased new factory direct.

      Interesting that you asked, this year I upgraded to a stainless steel impeller housing, which is rather expensive, but prevents that from ever happening again. I’m still assembling that video.

    I’m having the same issue I just replaced my impeller . Is there any way to get the pieces of impeller out without pulling the water pump ?

    • @DrivingIntelligence
      @DrivingIntelligence  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To be safe, pull the pump and flush the line backwards to get all the pieces out. Otherwise you are taking a big risk. And please subscribe!
