If the young folks can’t name them, then they are forgotten. The only people that know them, are the ones that heard them in their time, or those who explore music from the past like me. All the original fans are dying out like the members of these bands and when they are mostly gone, so will the names of these bands.
Totally agree! The Guess Who have an amazing legacy that deserves more official recognition. And The Tragically Hip? True Canadian gems that the world needs to hear more of. Thanks for commenting!
What an amazing discovery! Forever Changes is truly a spectacular album, full of layers and beauty. A masterpiece that always deserves to be rediscovered. Ahh! I liked Mr.White and Mr.Pink in your photo!👏 Thanks for the comment!
I would add Uriah Heep, Rainbow, Sweet, Blue Öyster Cult, Nazareth, Mountain, The Left Banke, Lucifer’s Friend, Gift, The Chocolate Watchband, Nevermore, Vanilla Fudge, Twisted Sister, The Edgar Broughton Band and many others I’m blanking on at the moment.
Yeah, only those who dive deep into Blues Rock realize how incredible Alvin Lee was! It’s a shame many newcomers don’t catch on to them. Thanks for commenting!
Joyas del Rock Progresivo !!!! es como otra area , estan en otro canal , la mayoría de estos son underground dentro del mismo progresivo , solo para conocedores , pero no seran apreciados en la corriente popular .
The first 5 bands mentioned are the best to me (lately, if I don't put "to me" I get flack as if music is not all subjective), but all bands are worthy, but Cheap Trick was way too popular in the first place. My top 5 favorite albums include two of these bands: 1 Forever Changes - Love 2 Buffalo Springfield Again - Buffalo Springfield 3 The Replacements - Tim 4 The Replacements - Let it Be 5 Astral Weeks - Van Morrison
Great list! Forever Changes and Buffalo Springfield Again are true masterpieces. And you’re right, music is always personal, no one should give you flack for that! Thanks for commenting!
Good choice! Caravan is a prog rock icon, and The Wipers have an undeniable punk legacy. Any particular reason you picked these two? Thanks for the comment!
Great recommendation! The Chameleons have that sound that’s both melodic and introspective, perfect for those who like something more experimental. Thanks for sharing!
Good evening my friend I just posted my list: From The Netherlands With Love.. You did a great job I knew only 5 bands and from 2 I got an album: Husker Du - Metal Circus anf The Guess Who - Canned Wheat. I will check the ones I do not know . Great choices.
Hello Freddy, how are you? I'm glad you liked this list. I've already checked out your list of Dutch bands and I'll definitely use many of your suggestions, I'll review everything as soon as possible. Thanks for your great comments, cheers!
@@BackingTrackCenter Good afternoon my friend. I am doing great. How are you doing? I made also just a digital monument for Earth And Fire. If you like this concept for your channel I can provide of most of the Dutch bands a top 5 with all great songs. In some cases a top 3 due to no qualified vids availlable or for being active just recently. I love to help you to get more viewers and bring great Dutch bands under the attention. Mucic First!!!!
Nice to see The Church mentioned you could do a whole video of bands from that era that are under appreciated : The Jam, Joy Division, The Teardrop Explodes , The Boomtown Rats etc etc.
Absolutely, Sugarloaf is underrated! They have classics like Green-Eyed Lady that showcase the band's talent. They deserved more recognition. Thanks for commenting!
Great list. The only band that I feel like you forgot about that should be there is Echo and the Bunnymen (and possibly the Go-Betweens). Stellar work otherwise though 😊
Totally agree! Echo and the Bunnymen and The Go-Betweens definitely deserve a shout-out. Maybe in the next list? Thanks for the compliment and the suggestion! 🤩🎸
@@BackingTrackCenter the Bunnymen aren’t over rated in UK, where their contribution to the post punk scene is regularly acknowledged. If they are overlooked/disliked, I suppose it’s because McCulloch’s abrasive and unpredictable attitude doesn’t help? Hüsker Dü certainly aren’t overlooked by me, although it’s surprising how few people are familiar with their material.
I agree, The Guess Who are iconic, but they sometimes get overlooked in lists of influential bands. They deserve more love! Thanks for pointing it out!
@@BackingTrackCenter I believe a band can be successful and well recognized without being considered "influential." Maybe they didn't pioneer a new genre or movement, but i'm sure otjer bands still took inspiratiin from them...especially Canadian artists..certainly Lenny Kravitz.
@@billmacarthur5310 I'll grant Rush was probably more influential, but "Not Fragile" blows ANY Rush album out of the water IMO. That one BTO album was ALMOST enough to make up for Celine Dion's entire output.
We could also add great band Amazing Blondel. Combination of folk and Renaissance music with charming vocal harmonies. They are really amazing in my opinion. What do you think? Are they underrated?
Great memory! Definitely a fantastic band from the early 70s and incredibly underrated. They rarely get mentioned. We'll make a part 2 of this list and include them. Thanks for commenting!
Totally agree! King’s X is truly one of the most underrated bands ever. Their sound is amazing and deserves way more attention. Thanks for mentioning them!
@BackingTrackCenter I saw an interview with Richie Blackmore and he said that he turned down Kings X as a support band because there was no way he was gonna go on stage after them. 'They'll blow us away'.
Well, it's hard to believe that anyone could underestimate The Band! They are absolute legends, but they are always overlooked in favor of other mainstream bands. Thanks for the comment!
Badlands and Chickenfoot are great suggestions! Both bands have incredible musicians who definitely deserve more recognition. Thanks for suggesting and for the kind words about the list!
What an awesome selection of bands! MC5 and Atomic Rooster were true pioneers and super underrated, right? And Dumpy’s Rusty Nuts has that unique underground charm. Thanks for sharing these suggestions!
This list must be talking to the newer generations who only know Beyoncé, and Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber. Growing up in the 60s all of these bands were well known and loved and most of them had multiple hits so I can only assume this is talking to kids today who truly don’t care about the past.
I agree these bands were super well-known in the '60s, but still, many seem to have faded out of the spotlight over time, especially for those who didn’t live through it. Maybe it’s an effort to bring that back. Thanks for commenting!
Absolutely! Collective Soul has some incredible songs, and even though they’re known, I feel like they don’t get the recognition they deserve. Great mention, thanks!
It's possible that some of these bands are "rated" just as they ought to be and had limited success because they simply weren't as good as other bands of their eras. * The Guess Who certainly doesn't belong on this list.
T-Rex=Marc Bolan, T-Rex WAS MARC BOLAN, he invented glam blended with prog, pop, new wave n all that packed in rock,in some numbers hard,heavy...also vocal to remember
Dead Sara is such a powerful band! Emily Armstrong has an incredible stage presence. Do you have a favorite song of theirs? Thanks for mentioning them!
I agree that they were quite successful in their time, but their impact has been eclipsed compared to other great bands of the time, and nowadays they are rarely mentioned in view of the legacy they left. Oh! How cool that you have this connection with Mott. Thanks for telling us about it!
“Underrated” refers to their influence on rock and glam being less recognized today. Do you agree or do you think they already have the recognition they deserve?
It could be that The Band is acknowledged among critics and music fans, but in the mainstream, they don’t always get the recognition they deserve. A shame, considering their importance! Thanks for commenting!

@@BackingTrackCenter What is the name of the first song plays in the video for "The Band"??
The Guess Who, T Rex, and Cheap Trick are DEFINITELY not forgotten.
Not at all! They are fantastic bands that deserve more and more attention!
Diese Bands gehören aber nicht unbedingt in den Kontext "Progressive Rock"!
No, but we'll be doing a list of underrated progressive rock bands soon, any suggestions?
@@BackingTrackCenter Nope. I was never a big fan of most progressive rock.

The Guess Who should be in the rock and roll hall of fame! Also, the rest of the world slept on The Tragically Hip
Totally agree! The Guess Who have an amazing legacy that deserves more official recognition. And The Tragically Hip? True Canadian gems that the world needs to hear more of. Thanks for commenting!
Good list.
It took me a while but I finally discovered that "Forever Changes" by Love is one of the best albums ever recorded.
What an amazing discovery! Forever Changes is truly a spectacular album, full of layers and beauty. A masterpiece that always deserves to be rediscovered. Ahh! I liked Mr.White and Mr.Pink in your photo!👏 Thanks for the comment!

Love all of these id like to toss in UFO
Nectar 🍯
Ten Years After is known by those who really know Blues Rock, but not very well known by novice listeners. Alvin Lee is a GREAT Blues guitarist. 🎸

Some pretty good ones in there, The Church were an excellent band who should have been massive
For sure! The Church is one of those bands that should've been much bigger. Their sound is unique and so layered. Thanks for highlighting them!
Yes these bands were great.
No doubt! Many of these bands helped shape the sound we know today.
Great list, I only add Golden Earring on the number one spot. 25 great studio albums and the most people only knows one song.😅
Golden Earring definitely deserves more recognition! Great suggestion! Thanks for commenting! 🤩

The Guess Who is tragically underrated and disrespected.

The Band and Cheap Trick are rightfully in the Rock hall of Fame. There are many others not in that are way more underrated.
Which underrated bands do you think should be included in part 2 of this list? Thanks for commenting!
Well thank you for asking! 5 right off the top of my head are Blue Oyster Cult, Sweet, Kansas, Live, and Primus.
Badlands (Jake E. Lee, Ray Gillan) and Chickenfoot (Sammy Hagar, Joe Satriani, Chad Smith, Michael Anthony).

That’s interesting!
Steppenwolf. Don't get mentioned very often.
