Combined Arms does what it says on the tin and has you commanding your air, sea and ground forces in a big to take down the opponent's base. It takes a more strategic view of the overall conflict than your typical 28mm wargame.
Additionally, this game can be combined with Bolt Action, Blood Red Skies and Victory At Sea in order to play out larger campaigns with your friends.
What do you make of Combined Arms?

Finally trying the board game tomorrow lads, this has been handy for trying to get to grips with the basic rules.

Thank you the play-through, it really gives a good idea of the game. Were you playing the final or draft rules? I ask because I read the rules differently from how you played (I admit I may have missed things).
    The two major items were:
    1. Starting with 2 initiative cards - I can’t find that in the rules
    2. On the Orders Board, starting at 1. I don’t see why you can’t select level 3 orders right sway.
Not trying to be a rules lawyer, but I find the writing of these rules to be a bit loose.
    Looking forward to your campaign!

@Gerry mcCabe I do not see any reference to a ladder or any restriction (other than being open) on placing orders in my set of rules. Is it possible it was changed for the final version?

@@mikemayes60 it doesn’t specify in my copy of the rules on release that it is ladder based. What balances it out is whether you can do concealed movement or larger non concealed movements. Air power will very quickly pick off units that are not concealed with little challenge. There is no lock out feature stopping either player taking any available space at any time, providing they have an order to issue.

@Gerry mcCabe Fair enough, and thanks for your time and putting on the demo.

This sounds very interesting - I wonder how easy it would be to convert this to non-World War scenarios.

I would think pretty simple. I am contemplating doing one with Ogre.

I hope the Allies are able to capture those nuclear plants there in Normandy. ??

Look up the Köln gas power plant. It looks exactly like the token you're calling Nuclear and was a major target for the Allies in WW2

    • @Tareezo

People often mistake cooling towers for nuclear power plants.
Both fossil and nuclear power plants produce power the same way, by heating water to steam in order to spin a turbine which in turn generate electrical power.
However, that water needs to be cooled down again to be reused, and this is done by running it down the inside of hollow concrete cooling towers.
And that's the iconic shape you see near power plants. Doesn't mean it's nuclear.
