Tip for your camera operator. If you struggle with focus control use a higher f-stop. Your using 1.8 or something really shallow and unless your good with a camera you'll find it hard to keep in focus.
This should be called a first impressions video, since you are still figuring out the machine. I'd say use it daily for a month or so to give us more well rounded feedback.
Thanks. You are right. I have been using the machine for several months now and have a better feel for it. I fully recommend it for solid one pass linework. I appreciate the comment
The spit comes from the grommet material and needle shape. The needle eye shape is important. It’s a tricky little bugger but once you dial it in it’s a scalpel!!!! I use it for 3 and 5 rd and don’t use it for its intended purposes and get insanely great results. For context, i was loyal to the coil for 26 years. And I mean LOYAL. This machine changed me
Great to see this video, Jake. I use an older Sidewinder after other rotaries & I love the lines I get. I appreciate you taking the time to try some different lines while changing just a few factors, and giving your thoughts. I've found with a proper bend in the needle, stiff nipple & a rubber band I rarely get much spitting, but it certainly seems to be a thing most tattooers wrestle with with this machine. Keep up the great work, I've always loved your channel!
Great video and can't wait for a follow up video. This machine seems like it is most talked about one. In regards of spitting I have seen on Dan Kubins Instagram that there are specific ways on bending the the needle and some other little things. Which would be a question if there is a follow up video - considering price and all the little things that seem off standard then would you recommend it and for which type of works. Thank for a great video
I find putting a single pass line in with the pen is not easy its best for realism. A heavy coil and tube is great for a solid traditional line. Not tried the kubins but think I will in near future.
JAKE. To stop the spitting Dan says when putting the needle on the machine do it upside down. So the bar is facing you instead of the traditional way we usually install.
So I used coils for like 9 years. Switch to a humming bird. It's way better then a coil. So I know humming bird is lower end. But how much of a difference would using a pen or the inkinjecta or this side winder like tattoo machines. I'm a truly missing out? Dont feel like I am. Like I said I did use a COIL FOR FOREVER I might be a little stubborn.
He runs the needle backwards the solder side down I guess it stops the spitting I wonder if it would work the same with a coil machine if it starts to spit just put the needle in backwards it looks like the best rotary I’ve seen in 35 years
yeah. Iv'e been running the needle that way since he recommended it. It does help with the spitting. It is easily the best liner I have ever used now that I have gotten used to it
Really good review... It worth to be try. Btw this New camera with the lights gives such a hiiiigh quality level. Great choice and awesome detail on the near shots. Keep it UP
I've had mine for about 6 months now it makes great lines but i cannot get it to stop spitting to save my life any advice? I've tried the bend in the bar, the harder grommets etc nothing seems to work that well. You would think with all the thought that went in to creating such a wonderful machine that this issue would have been fixed or figured out by now but i hear people say this often
Thanks for the review! Very thoughtful and informative, as everything else you do... seeing that you use the pen... Did you try Sol Nova? Saw it at a convention last week and it looks quite promising!
Trying to pick up a sidewinder but it seems that they are all out of stock.. Do you have any contacts where I can pick one up.. Thank you for your videos
Just a question not trying to be rude at all, but why didn’t you wait just a day or two until you understood the machine a little bit better to make this video
Rather push my Harley than ride a Honda hated them 25 years ago hate them to this day my tendons are fucked but rather a little pain keep your coil machines tuned up and they will do you well I can’t see spending a ton of money on something like a pen with a racing car motor I don’t think they are a reliable motor 3 or 4 hundred I can get a awesome coil machine I got a guy here in Canada Daniel labonte that I’ve run a few of his machines for a year strait with out touching it and guaranteed for life you can’t get that from all these pen manufacturers if I was going to use a rotary it would be a kubin it’s as close to a coil machine they come I guess I’m stuck in my ways good video also I can’t see buying a cheyanne wen they fuck up you have to send them away or they are not guaranteed for life 800 plus you need ther power supply for the Cheyenne I believe and I’m Canada going to be more than 800 so I’ll stick to good ole coils and fix myself
Soooooooo fucking expensive for the skin stickers but they are worth every penny they last so long my artist has had his v4 sidewinder for over 5 years with little to no tuning

i run 2 V5's daily for lines and I shade with a Cheyenne hawk now. I'd say it's about time you tried one. Kubins are the best
Dk Swingliner for lines and xion for shading for me. ;)
Yeah. I have really gotten used to it now. I agree
Coil are the best

Thanks so much. I think you are right on the spitting. It seems to have been corrected by playing with needle bend
To get it quit you put o rings on the 3 grooves on the armature bar not messing with the impact.

Yeah. I've been doing that and it does help. Thanks!
@@FiresideTattooNetwork I just ordered one Sunday. I'm looking forward to use it.
Have you reviewed the Bishop Fantom yet? And what do you think about magnetic operating rotary? Haven't used one yet .... just curious
Nice! Thanx for the info! Always looking for new machines, it's like a painter having a new brush to work with.
Sure is. Thanks for watching

Brooo this is really the appt you chose to “test” that machine on?
Yesss dude liked before watching
Thanks!

What kind of tube tip did you use on this? In the online shop it says use round tip tubes to avoid spitting.
If I could ever afford one I would buy one for sure
If you do a follow up review, please could you do a comparison on somewhere that is difficult to tattoo of possible? Thanks
Really good review... It worth to be try. Btw this New camera with the lights gives such a hiiiigh quality level. Great choice and awesome detail on the near shots. Keep it UP
Video is in and out blurr is messing with my eyes.

What voltage you running it at, might just have to turn it down then slow down the hand speed a bit
Thanks for the review! Very thoughtful and informative, as everything else you do... seeing that you use the pen... Did you try Sol Nova? Saw it at a convention last week and it looks quite promising!
Six round liner? Who do you get those from? I got a thing about threes and a six round would do wonders for my OCD.
I think they are just kingpin brand liners
Trying to pick up a sidewinder but it seems that they are all out of stock.. Do you have any contacts where I can pick one up.. Thank you for your videos
In stock on Sundays
Hey man where can I purchase this machine ? 🙏
Just a question not trying to be rude at all, but why didn’t you wait just a day or two until you understood the machine a little bit better to make this video
How are you gonna lay your clip cord over a whole roll of barrier film 😦😦😦
All I could see anymore the second he did it, yikes.
Hey Jake it's fleet from Australia you need to come down under we love you and what you do any time 😊 welcome
I’m just going to say this u tattooed with that cord bagged then laid it across ur barrier film. The whole roll of barrier is trash.
I hate how irresponsible people are with cross contamination.
Drives me fucking nuts.
I am working since 5 years with my V4 sidewinder and this is -don´t take it personal - the must clumsy review I could imagine..
Off topic but where did you get your hat
Looks like a welding cap or a bicycle cap
My Xion pen puts in great single pass lines for me.
Did you just say the Cheyenne is a much nicer sound. 😅
is your operator stoned?
Love the show....
Thanks for thr video! But the camera man dont know how to focus 😑

Can you review the new Cheyenne solnova
I would love to. Wish they would send me one to try!
@@FiresideTattooNetwork its a great machine, i am sure you whould love it, it has a very unique punch
50% of the video's time the camera is OUT OF FOCUS ...!!!!!!

Maybe you mean a V1 since it came out in 2014. I'm pretty sure that the V4 wasn't untill late 2017.
