Chevy Equinox/GMC Terrain Front Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement (Service Stabilitrak)

- This is one of the possible culprits that triggers the Service Stabilitrak warning along with ABS and Traction control lights being illuminated. This service was due to codes U0415 for power steering module and C0040 for the antilock brake system.

Would needing a wheel alignment also cause service stabilitrak on a AWD vehicle?
No. Wheel alignment has nothing to do with this issue. Have you scanned the vehicle for fault codes? This warning will come with a fault code that will tell you what the issue is.
@@BillOfAllTrades2016 i replaced a faulty wheel speed sensor and the abs fault was fixed, so now it's just the stabilitrak service. I'm leaning towards a wheel alignment for the service stabilitrak light.
As I said already, a wheel alignment will not fix the service stabilitrak warning. You need to rescan the vehicle for fault codes to see what fault code is causing the stabilitrak warning to come on. If a warning is present there will be a code to go with it. Guessing on what to do will result in wasted money and time.
The light should goes off in about 5 cycle cycles 🔁

How did you determine it was passenger side? Is it in front only?
You need an obd scanner capable of scanning your bcm. I used a scanner called bluedriver. It gives you a code and tells you in a description what sensor is faulty. There is a wheel speed sensor on every wheel. The scan tool can pinpoint what one is faulty. Most commonly the front ones fail first. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching. Please like and subscribe

That’s weird. I thought I put that in there. Thanks for letting me know. The order you remove and reinstall does not matter. You can start by unplugging the harness and working your way to the sensor. Or start at the sensor and work your way to the harness clip. Hope this helps. Please like and subscribe

I have a 2014 gmc terrain I just had this light come on great video! How do I know what side I need to do?
I had a coworker use an obd scanner that is capable of scanning the bcm. Standard scanners only scan the ecm. The scanner he used is called blue driver. Hooks up to any smart phone. The bcm code will tell you what side is faulty. Thanks for watching. Hope this helps. Please like and subscribe

I’m waiting for a free one from a collaboration I’m doing with a company. They sent me an alternator that is arriving soon and the hub should arrive in a Couple weeks
My car went in limp mode and I'm had to take out my awd fuse. Why was that?

Will this cause your brakes to stick? Both of mine are dragging for some reason and I'm getting this morning on my dash
Brakes sticking is usually caused by seized slider pins. Take your brake calipers apart and and/ regrease the pins and clean any buildup of dirt and rust from the inside edges of the caliper. As for the Stabilitrak and abs lights, you will need to scan the vehicle to get a code so it can be properly diagnosed
thanks again! My engine light was blinking in conjunction with TC and misfiring, no ABS thankfully. We'll see how it does after spark plugs, PCV hose cleaning, and deep throttle body cleaning. If not, I guess I'll be coming back to your video lol.
Did you scan the code to see what it was?
@@BillOfAllTrades2016 it was gone before I could even get my OBD2 out the console. the check engine was blinking and not solid. The traction control light stayed on though. Got to work, turned the car off started back up with no lights showing at all, not even TC🤔
That’s strange. I had my tc light flicker the other day and go back out. These things can be a mystery. I would say do all the services you were planning, give it a test drive for a good 10 minutes then scan it again to make sure all is well. Is your scanner capable of scanning the bcm as well? Or is it a basic scanner only? Because I had an old scanner that would only pick up engine codes but couldn’t read the bcm codes I had.

I recommend the bluedriver scan tool. It’s Bluetooth to your phone and only $100CAD roughly. If you have an engine code it will tell you what it is and also it will give you the most common fix that solved the code. It’s very handy.

Would this sensor/wheel hub ring cause the vehicle to stall and turn the engine off?
I personally never experienced that. After you stalled did you read any fault codes with a scan tool?

Did the reset work?
It actually ended up being the wheel hub was missing the tone ring. The light came back on shortly after driving again. I replaced the wheel hub and the light is all good now. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching. Please like and subscribe

You will need a scan tool capable of scanning all sensors in your car. My co worker lent me his scanner. I put the code s in the description. The scanner he used is called bluedriver obd2 scanner
