    curious why you posted a video purporting to show how to use forscan to program a second key when instead you had to call in a locksmith. LOL

      Good question. If I would have had a good key it would have been successful. It pretty much shows the worst case scenario and that it is possible to recover from it.

    Ford Edge 2013, only 1 key, and it is nearly dead. I’ve read a lot about this but, the problem is that I’ve been getting conflicting information. Yes I can with a spare key and the ONLY key that we have… and then NO you CAN’T add new key with only 1 key. So… as all of you know this isn’t something I can be wrong about I try. So, that being said, can these specific details, still be ok and get a second key on our own?

    I wonder if disconnecting the battery for a few minutes would have cleared the programming mode and allowed you to start the car?

    I guess the best place to do this method right infront of the locksmith shop. Just in case 😂

      For me it would have, but others have successfully done it with good keys.

    i just did the same thing and it the original stopped working, so i got 2 new keys and used the option to delete and program all keys and programmed them both and it worked again. so no need to call the locksmith, just buy another working key.

      It was late Sunday when I did it and my wife wouldn't have been happy with her beloved Thunderbird spending the night outside so I went the locksmith route. I am glad to hear that you were able to get it done this way though. Thanks for watching and for the feedback!

    If you have only one working key and you want to add additional key. You do not need FORScan or any other scan tools.
    Follow my instructions and it will work for you, I did this recently to my 03 mustang which has the Ford transponder key.
    First insert your original key into ignition and turn to on position, wait till alarm light to turn off, usually 5 to 10 seconds. remove your original key and place it right next to the ignition column. Place it near the ignition is at. This tells the car that the transponder is in proximity of the ECU.
    Next insert your new key and turn to on and wait for alarm light to go off 5 to 10 seconds. Remove key.
    Your new key is now programmed as the second key.
    Now you have 2 keys that is programmed to your car.
    Now that you have 2 keys programmed, follow the simple instructions to add additional keys.
    You are welcome.

    Just programmed an additional key for my 2014 escape and it worked perfectly. Bought a $16 ODB2 reader for $16 on amazon and turned off MyKey restrictions. Bought a $11 extra key on ebay and programmed the key fob. Paid $75 for locksmith to cut the new key, then used Forscan and this video to program the new key. Worked perfectly … thanks!

      Perhaps, see my comments on which key blanks actually work with ForScan. However, mine was 2003, so not sure this holds true thru 2011, but it probably does. The only blank that worked with ForScan on my 2003 F-150 was this Strattech one: "StratTec 597602 H72PT Blank Transponder Ignition Key with Ford Logo for selected Ford, Lincoln & Mercury Vehicles" is the description on Amazon. HOWEVER, Your 2011 uses a different generation of PATS, and I had success using THIS key blank on Amazon with ForScan, on a 2006 Ford Focus, and others reported success with a 2007 F-150. Amazon description: "Car Key Fob Keyless Entry Remote fits Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, Mazda with Ignition Key (CWTWB1U331 GQ43VT11T CWTWB1U345 3-btn), Set of 2" I believe the 2007 F-150 PATS is the same as the 2011, so perhaps try it with these blanks.

    Thanks for the video. I tried to program my 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid via the key on off 8 times, but it wouldn't work. I thought maybe my car already had four keys programmed. So worst comes to worst and if i erase my good key, I'll call a locksmith. The good news is using Fortran, I could see that it showed only 2 of 4 keys programmed. Long story short it worked and no locksmith was needed. Now i have 3 of 4 ignition keys programmed.

      As I mentioned at 3:13 what you said wasn't the issue. My new key had a bad transponder so it was stuck in program mode waiting for a second key. When the locksmith came out he cut the new key with a good transponder and it completed the programming sequence.

    • @XeoWolf
      @XeoWolf 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      No... the whole point of using forscan is programming a SECOND key. As he said in the video, his 2nd key had the wrong or a bad transponder.

    I have 2 cards for mazda cx 9 from 2008. I have a problem with keyless go. Once it works fine and in a moment I have to start the car with a metal key. The key flashes red while driving. Not when the immo is flashing and I can't start the car. I suspect that it is the keyless module or the fault of one of the antennas. Can I use a forscan to reprogram my cards? Is it safe?

  • @Jpilgrim30
    @Jpilgrim30 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I had a feeling that this was going to happen when I saw you put the new key in the ignition. It looks like the key you were trying to program was a generation newer than you original key. It’s obvious now but that will not work lol. I keep some spare blank keys like these for any situation I need to program PATS and the customer only has one key. I’ll take the transponder ring loose from the column so I can stick a blank inside of it to trick the system into learning the second key.

    • @goromadness9755
      @goromadness9755 ปีที่แล้ว

      hi, I don't get it. If you stick a blank key inside of the transponder ring, how is that gonna do anything when you put a second key in the ignition?, I mean the blank key is just a piece of metal. I dont understand.

    I lost all the keys for one of my town cars, luckily I have multiple town cars and for some reason the ignitions are the same. So I can make a copy of the key and I’m hoping I can program additional keys with this method without needing the original

    I have forscan and a spare key I ordered off Amazon. I hope the transponder works. But either way I’d still have to pay $100 for someone else to program it. It’s worth a shot. I wonder if the car will exit programming mode if you disconnect the battery.
