As someone that works at a dairy farm I can tell you that there is a huge difference between the smell of cow/cowpoop and infection. The first one may stink but it doesn't give you the same feeling of wrongness of the smell of infection.

I used to spend a lot of time with horses when i was younger, took riding lessons for 10 years, worked extra in the stable etc. The smell of horsepoop never ever got to me, but now as an adult that has worked with the elderly and smelled some truly unbelivable stuff, i would take horsepoop anyday over infection, bedsores or cancer-wounds..

I remember around age 9, my Dad, for some reason, had the feed trough near the fence, so I was always standing on it talking to the cows. (I was the only child on the farm at that time, so no one else to talk to 🤷🏼‍♀️) I notice that Leo was limping and I went and told my Dad. He checks him and removed a metal wire that had wrapped around the coronary band area. It has started to cut in, causing the limp. I was the hero for the day ☺️

Graeme, I’m sure the Jersey cow won’t hold any grudges after she realizes how much better she feels! You might want to add a pair of needle nose pliers and a pair of wire cutters to the kit you keep in the crush for the “How on earth did she/he do that?” situations that occasionally crop up.

5:09 farmer here with some experience dealing with wire around cows legs. What happens is the cow(or calf) will put it hoof through a loop of wire and it will pull tight. As the cow pulls they might just happen to start spinning around in circles and that will twist the wire enough that it can lock on around the leg. You should get yourself a set of good fencing pliers and put them in your kit as this will happen a lot on farms that have been around for a while and haven't been immaculately maintained as fences get slack and such.

Wow. She looked back as if to say "thank you so much!" It was adorable to see. How the heck did that barbed wire get on her leg anyway? I would want to investigate if I were the farmer so it wouldn't ever happen again.

We like you for your interesting content. We LOVE you because you take the time to give that cow's leg a bit of a rub after you take that horrible wire off. I could feel her relief from here in Arizona!

As someone who has had a very painful abscess in a very sensitive area, I know the immediate relief when it bursts open. The pain disappears right away. I can sympathize with the cows whose absecess burst on the spot

Graeme spraying the barbed wire made me think of the dad in My Big Fat Greek Wedding, who thinks every problem can be solved with Windex 😂😂😂
Also, it's always interesting how different they sound when they talk to each other as opposed to talking for the camera. It sounds so Scottish. Kinda beautiful and plaid. 🙂
