Hi! Usual lurker, but I noticed something (good!) that I wanted to mention. [You guys always do so much for the cows and are always great. This moment was just so subtle I wanted to comment!] At 5:45 you can see how much strength you needed to cut that harder horn on the medial part of the claw, but then about 5:54, when you moved outward, you can visibly see the pressure change of your hand- in like a millisecond of time- to be gentle on the part of the horn. I don't even know the right words to describe it- almost an instinctual reflex after when the knife just brushed that softer part. I had to rewatch to confirm what I saw- I usually look more that the hoof. Long story short: I just wanted to let you know how it's so clear how amazingly skilled you are with trimming and how careful you are to not harm the cows. You are truly amazing and I just wanted to point it out!

As a kid (60 years ago), I spent a lot of time on my Grandma's dairy farm. I don't remember a hoof trimmer coming to check the cows' hoofs. Back then, cows were out in the fields all the time. Was hoof trimming something that wasn't done at the time or was it because they were out in the field. I remember it being so much fun to go to the farm. Riding on the old Ford tractor fenders, taking lunch (fried chicken, mashed potatoes & gravey, vegetables & biscuits)to the helpers out in the field, watching the milking in the 3 stalls & playing in the barn. The only thing I didn't like was the mean Holstein bull. I still have nightmares about him!

I love your videos. I know there are other 'hoof trimming' videos, but by far, your presentation is far superior.
Keep them comming, and God Bless you and yours.😁

I admire Farmers for all they do. My Uncle had a Horse farm in Saskatchewan Canada and my other was growing corn, wheat, rapeseed etc. It is hard work and I will support local farmers. Cows are beautiful, curious souls.

Ha! It's great to see they've fixed the problem pole where that cow got stuck a while back! Awesome trim, Graeme, and I love the unending compassion you have for the cattle in your care!

Definitely I'd love to see an update. I loved this video. The way you explained everything and showing the before photo so one can compare the then and now. The mention of the odor which I'd never even thought about. 👍👏👏👏

I always love watching these videos. I find so satisfying to watch and cow go from bad to good over time and it shows that you truly do help them. And I know that this cow will be the same she just needs some attention and more time which I know she’s getting. Also I’ve been curious what became of the cow that had the keratin fingers. Did she ever recover?

This non-farmer is also curious about the "fringe fingered" (keratin hoof fingers) cow. How is she doing?

Nervous to go in, but not so much so once she was in. Good to see the "I don't need to go back to the doctor, I'm feeling better" mentality applies to cows also 😂
