    Hi, I'm a flight attendant with HAL and I'm bummed I wasn't working your flight. I regularly fly to HND around 2X a month and am usually the lead or purser. You were actually seated in 3J and you completely missed showing the Japanese selection on the menu which wasn't that great if I recall correctly but the best choice of the Western selections was the papardelle with cream sauce. Great trip report though... Enjoyed it immensely !

    Hawaiian Air’s longest International flight would be HNL to SYD, (10 to 10 1/2 hours). Domestically, it’s BOS to HNL with strong head winds in the winter will push flight times to 13 hours.

    Fantastic report, just watched this after the last two from yesterday. What an eclectic bunch of flight reports, I have to say I kept chuckling with this one. Firstly the pilot
    "It's -57C outside and also we are expecting some turbulence..... also, make sure you use the right LAV A TORY you mofo's "
    Then the starter which had the worlds largest tomato on it which you kindly described as "interesting". One can only assume that the medical emergency was when someone poked it with a fork only for it to launch itself at their mouth to lay a tomato egg like that scene in Alien...
    Quite a funky flight, I would definitely fly with them. Thanks for the report again.

I was able to lay on my side and move it closer or just move around with it in general. I did not enjoy their food though =[ the main entrees always left me wanting something different. Nice review as usual. I understand that many couples fly to Hawaii but if I am paying for Business Class I want the 1-2-1 configuration. I fly alone and can't tolerate having to step over my seatmate to access the aisle. It seems to be the new wave in seat configuration and I am surprised at the number of airlines who hesitate to upgrade their aircraft. Was that the moon as you were coming in for your landing? Incredibly beautiful photography over the water. As always, take care and Happy Travels!

    • @Whenitraveltheworld
      @Whenitraveltheworld  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks John, glad you enjoyed it. I hear where your coming from on the seat config, I guess they could do that weird seat config that united has on some 767's were its 2-1-2 and the middle seats are just great for single passengers.
      Yes that was the moon in full force as we landed, it really lit up the water. Thank you for watching as always and the comment.

    I like the open air part of the airport, the HA boarding music makes me want to pack up and go the Pacific. In Business Class - I just really appreciate a 1-2-1 configuration unless flying with my spouse, so I'm not a huge fan of 2-2-2. Also, your hair is on point - literally!

    Great video James. I first flew with Hawaiian back in 1991 on a L1011 which had a seat configuration of 2-5-2... I paid for a upgrade for $75 dollars at the check in desk when I flew back to LAX. Back in the day... The first class seats were like a wide and more comfortable premium economy seat.

    Midway would be the obvious stop point however there are some other US Mil / AAF/ AF base alternatives that you could probably get clearance for if it was a proper emergency although I think it'd need to be a 'preservation of life' case rather than 'pax is feeling a little lightheaded' kind of scenario.
    I wasn't a massive fan of the place overall but have you ever flown into or out of PUJ ( Punta Cana) airport. That's a REALLY outside place ( wildlife has a tendency to walk through the check-in areas) there's also a great bar at the end of one of the piers that whilst quite windy has an outside area looking directly onto the apron.

    Another thorough review of your flight. I enjoyed all of it. The airline is too mainland US rather than Hawaiian and I found it to be a little tacky. The menu was found wanting. Do I like flying? Heck no! It’s just a means of getting from A to B as quickly as possible. I’m an old guy who went to a well known Brit public school. It made me a terrible snob to the point that I hate getting chummy with fellow passengers. The more privacy, the better for me. Your flight’s privacy screen was a joke! I would have walked out before take off and that music! OMG! Too loud and down-market Hawaiian. You’d have thought they’d at least play some Don Ho 🤪. You use a US passport because you’re American and have family in Southern California? Thanks for sharing old boy. Cheers, Colin.

    For me their Business Class was not very impressive. The service looked very awkward with the entertainment unit in the middle of everything. The amount of fruit on the sandwich meal was embarrassing and the seats looked uncomfortable...think I would choose a different carrier. US carriers on international just don't compare with International carriers service.

    I've never really wanted to go to Hawaii because I love the Mediterranean so this may seem a bit biased. That lounge looked like the lobby of a business park in the suburbs and there was no booze, the airport terminal itself looks like it's in desperate need of a reno and I feel like it didn't get much better on board. On the plus side, Slippers are WAY better than socks as an amenity.
