      It's the same with chess it's actually easier to learn the game online and strategy now when it was playing without computers. The grandmasters in chess would only meet up 5 times a year during the last cold war it's the same with poker plus they where not travelling back then for games. You look at America it's only since the 90s that poker players from Europe where going to America for the world series. America likes making them the world champions of sports they only played really lol

    I once heard Ivey say "I've never had a poker session where I didn't make a mistake." That says a lot coming from the goat compared to other hot shots who pride themselves on "perfect decisions". It also explains how Ivey got to be the goat. Endless learning curve. I also remember Ivey telling how to get good at poker. "Play a lot. Learn from your mistakes. Lose money." LOL.

    Phil's capacity for being self-aware and self-critical should be a model for anyone. He's doing wonderfully well, but is also aware of his shortcomings. This is something Hellmuth should consider. He makes noises about being aware of his shortcomings, but usually only as a way to segue (usually abruptly) back into how wonderful he is. The most amazing thing I've ever seen Ivey do was in a cash game in (I believe) Monte Carlo, where he and the opponent (don't remember his name) made multiple bets pre-flop, neither holding better than (if I remember correctly) 7-high. Ivey ultimately went all-in and his opponent folded. I know there's a video of this hand so it would be great if you could dig it out and play it.

And as an introvert myself, our friends are always that one super extroverted guy who for whatever reasons develops an attachment to you. Which in Ivey's case is Daniel Negreanu. Lol. Ivey laughing about kids today not asking about hands is funny, probably cause they just stare at their computer screens all day looking at the numbers so they think they know it all already. If the older players wouldn't share strategies, as Ivey said, then why would Doyle Brunson write Super System back in the 1970s??

    • @xavierpoes4985

      my thoughts. i think he is now more open to share because he has seen he can benefit. if he stopped doing so he would go back to not even talk about poker.

      Super System is kinda broad and it's for beginner players in a way. Also it's very hard for new players to play power poker like that. You need to know the game very well to pull off aggressiveness.

    • @rdf274
      @rdf274 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Got curious about that, ran a few hands on poker odds calc, on heads up seems like 66 is 2% better, with more players on the table things change a lot, apparently in favor of AK (suited)

    • @canaans1
      @canaans1 หลายเดือนก่อน

      An argument could be played. Way easier to win on most boards post flop with AK than 66. So many boards easy to continue as the aggressor and 66 will generally call a 3 bet or get 5 bet jammed if they decide to 4 bet and be in a tough spot preflop. Post flip ak way easier to manage so I'd take it over 66 every time even though in direct equity 66 has the edge.
      What does 66 do on basically any board facing multiple barrels. Fold eventually more often than not.

    • @JayakrishnanNairOmana
      @JayakrishnanNairOmana หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@canaans1 There is no doubt AK has better PLAYABILITY than 66, but here on this occasion, he is specifically talking about AIPF equities. He demonstrates that by saying Doyle "figured out" that AK was 53-47 over 66 by "dealing 100 hands and scoring the outcomes". If he had really done that over a larger sample size, he would get something close to 52%-48% in favor of 66.

    • @JayakrishnanNairOmana
      @JayakrishnanNairOmana หลายเดือนก่อน

      Note that a 4% edge is not that small. All of Las Vegas is built on table games like Blackjack and Baccarat where the house edge is less than 2% against an informed player.

    I don't get why Doyle was dealing out 100 hands instead of paying some math geek to count it out exactly, it's not hard, there's only 73 million ways to choose 7 cards out of 48, this can be figured out by any math geek with a pencil and paper in minutes. Maybe you'd have to be a math geek to know that this could be done and their group was just hustlers?
