I have been meaning to ask you, what is your color pallet? I am thinking maybe a soft autumn, but just curious! I’ve been trying to figure out what season I am myself! Also, I have been struggling to find dresses that fit me properly since I’m 5’1, has anyone had any success with finding dresses that fit smaller/shorter women? So far the only place I can fit in is Old Navy when I buy from their petites, which I don’t mind when they have sales, but I’m hoping I can find petite dresses at some local thrift stores!
I definitely think I'm an autumn but I haven't looked into all the sub categories, so I'm interested in looking more into that!! And I wish I had tips for finding more petite dresses, I'll pin your comment and hopefully someone will have ideas!
@@homewithkelli Hi Kelli, you are definately a Soft Autumn. You look very harmonious in Soft Autumn colours. Take a look at "Kibbe" for personal style. I think you are a Kibbe Soft Natural, but could also suit Soft Classic styles for more formal occassions.
Haha😂 I didn’t think anyone would be interested in seeing them since I was talking about everyday dresses! But I can see how mentioning them would make you more curious!
Any time that I find linen clothing at thrift stores I buy them. I will use them in some way. Right now I am making a patchwork skirt from all linen clothing that I have thrifted. I made a full slip from one of the really thin linen dresses that I got, but it was see-threw, so I cut the sleeves and the neck off and sewed it up to fit tighter and now I use it as a slip. I have quite a few linen dresses that I feel are see threw even though my husband seems to think they are not, but I still feel more comfortable with the slip on. Also, I have found that I personally like skirts better and am much more comfortable wearing them. I recently found a full length linen skirt at a thrift store and I really love it. It is a little big on me, but I use a safety pin to tighten it up. I will probably sew it before I wear it again. I have not found any dresses that do not have sleeves on them. I may take the sleeves off of one of mine, so that I can wear a top over it. Now, that I have started sewing and really looking at clothing, I have found that it is so easy to fix the things that I don't care for with the clothing that I do have. I really like the dresses and the different ways that you show that you can wear them. Showing these gives me a lot of ideas about my own wardrobe. Thanks for sharing.
I love long flowy dresses, in fact I’m uncomfortable in short dresses. I’m 5’4 so I always pray I can find petites but it’s never easy to find them. Yes the low cut dresses are issues as well. I’m using small safety pins right now. I am a pocket girl also! I can’t stand it if I end up without pockets. Also I have a dress that’s meant to be off the shoulder. I found a tank that matches it. The tank gives it something to grip on so it stays up on my shoulders. I didn’t think of wearing shirts over a dress, thanks for the tip! And can we talk about slits in dresses and skirts? They come up so high! I can handle them better in them in the fall and winter when I can wear leggings or tights under. Thank you for showing us your wardrobe and how you wear them! 🩷
I can imagine it’s hard to order long dresses online in case they’re too long. And I agree, the big slits in dresses are a pain and often not necessary! But I do find they are usually pretty easy to sew up as well!!
The color of the dress you are wearing is very flattering. I think you would also look good in forest green and blue/teal which is a greenish color. I’m about to tackle sewing liteweigh 100% crisp cotton sleeveless nightgowns. I bought three of the same at Kohls a few years and they have just about had it. A little intimidated but going to give it a whirl. If it turns out okay I may tack skirts next. Thanks for sharing!!!
I'm trying! I try to layer my dresses to make them work with leggings and sweaters. I'm still trying to figure out my style with winter skirts and dresses.
The blue Tshirt dress is a lovely color, I bet you could get it altered to be a bit more fitted like the green dress. Taking it in a bit around the bust line would make it look like the bottom was more “flowy”.
How do you launder linen? Is it a difficult fabric to clean & maintain? Would love to see a video of how you pair different tops with different skirts . This video has been so much fun! Thank you again, for showing us your collection & advising on how to put the pieces together . Would also love to see a video on how you make your linen / Cotten dressed & skirts, work for the winter time . God bless you , sister in Christ ❤❤❤
I wash linen the same way as all my other clothes and wash them with my other clothes as well and have never had any issues with it! That being said I always use cool water in the wash cycle. And if I do use the dryer, I dry on delicate, low heat setting.
I couldn’t wait to see this video today after yesterday’s upload!! Thanks for showing us your beautiful collection, and for highlighting your tailoring efforts!
I love your videos about wearing dresses! So inspirational! I recently found several dresses at my local Goodwill after watching your video from last year. Have you heard of Inherit Clothing Company? They are a little pricey but they have a nice selection of modest but pretty dresses. They sell hiking dresses and skirts as well.
Yayy, that's so exciting. And I haven't heard of them but I'm going to look them up now! And I'm very curious about the hiking dresses and skirts they sell!
I like your dresses! Your style looks a lot like mine. I like casual modest clothes. I find a-line dresses are flattering on me the way I’m shaped. Thanks for sharing!
Yes, I love a-line dresses. I never know the right descriptive works, but you saying that, I'm like yes, those are the dresses that I am always drawn towards!
Lovely video, Kelli !! I'd love to go shopping with you so you can help me figure out what to buy. You do seem to have some talent in styling, even though you think you don't 😊.
How do i keep warm in winter wearing a dress? I also live in a hilly area and i dont know what shoes would go well with dresses. Thank you for your content
My Grandma always wears an apron so she has pockets, as she always wears dresses or skirts. Even on vacation she brings one to carry her phone and Kleenex 😏

Great idea on the 1/2 apron. Your creativity inspires me!

Adding some wool legging underneath and or wool skirt or denim skirt over top of a dress
You can also add thermals under your leggings

I feel you with the low cut dresses. I wear dress slips underneath, to try and cover up, but I'll have to find something else.
I love your idea of using the skirt as an 'apron'. Good use of something that otherwise would just be trashed.
