Well yes, but Its sad because I don't look at the real actors or their lives, I look at the characters they represent.
And this version of Kit Harrington never got to be with this version of Rose Leslie.
Even when we know characters don't die in real life when they die on screen, your character's death always tend to hit you, because you know, they die, in that context.
And there was nothing to be done.
I love how they perfectly set up the "Ygritte's gonna save Jon from the Thenn" trope only to subvert it by having Jon kill the Thenn himself using Karl Tanner's spit tactic. It's kinda like that one time when Jaime makes that very predictable escape, only to be caught 5 mins later. Or that "Sam is so going to die" goodbye kiss to Gillie before the fight. These little tweaks is what makes it so great.
I agree. The fight with Karl Tanner was a turning point for Jon, a lesson he learned the hard way. Jon became a much better fighter after that fight when he realized that he will need to fight dirty to stay alive at the Wall. All his life up to that point he believed only in fighting with honor.
When Jon enters the fight and they show the entire panorama of Castle Battle in battle, that is some A1 cinematography. With the sped up GoT theme playing in the back! Always gets me amped up!

Ygritte's death is the first time I actually cried while watching GoT. It was so sad, and the shot with Jon cradling Ygritte with the battle raging behind them is one of the best of the show.

i mourned more Pyp's and Grenn's death than Ygrittes. Pyp deserved so much more, he's such a precious soul
Yeah Pyp didn't kill innocent people like Ygritte did i only felt for Jon losing her but Ygritte went out of her way to slaughter innocent people and villages.
For some reason, Pyp and Grenn’s deaths really got to me too!

Sir Alliser is a more complicated character than he gets credit for. Most people see him as just a douchebag antagonist but he has honour and does his duty for the watch.
I could not like him even in that scene lol

MY THIRD HUBBY - I am deceased 💀 girl you and I are on the same wavelength lmao. I feel like Jon realized about what his duty is consistent with the rules of this universe. He’s definitely more confident as well
i hate Ser Alliser so much in every other episode but i love how he's actually good at his job (he recognizes that Tormund is tearing through his troops and his best fighter, Jon, is on the wall) and he just charges straight towards him because he knows he's the only one who can slow him down and he escapes his wound and is technically successful in slowing him down for a while. If he wasn't just such a dick. It's weird that he buddies up to Slynt who even before was all talk and only "commanded" the Gold Cloaks and never fought. Even more the type of worm he'd hate more than anyone except Jon.
Ah don't worry, you are not alone. I was so angry when Ygritte died. My heart was in pieces. The love of Jon's life and he's never gonna see her again. And I loved that character so damn much.

I still get goosebumps hearing the Night’s Watch horn blasts integrate so well with the musical score.
This show is so amazing it's unreal. I can never get tired of seeing it. The way you get sucked into the world is just magical, you can feel the atmosphere in your soul and be truly transported and forget the problems and madness of your real life. I used to have a ritual when a new episode aired. Get home from work, switch the computer on and start downloading the show. Then I'd make a large hot cup of tea, roll two massive joints and black out the windows as the show was aired in summertime. By the time my nest was prepared the show would have finished downloading, so I'd lock the door, phone to DND, crank the volume up loud, spark up a joint, hit play and just feast my eyes and ears on this utter masterpiece of television. For some reason this show got me in the feelings like nothing ever has before of since, I'd be on the brink of tears several times almost every episode, and it still has the ability to make me emotional, despite having seen every episode an unhealthy number of times. Ygritte's death hit me HARD.
This ritual sounds so AMAZING I may have to try this when I rewatch the whole show soon (although May only do Seasons 1-4 LOL)

my heart hurt for Jon with Ygritte. I liked her up until she killed Olly's parents, but it was still painful to watch. Just a reminder, keep a box of Kleenex handy for any episode lol. Especially if you're binging 2 or 3 at a time.

Because he is fully justified. The Night's Watch successfully repelled the attack and all you were left with was sadness. Because there is no clean, desensitized TeAm gOoD gUy wInS here. It was the same thing in Blackwater. And it's not gonna be the last time either.
