The white stage costume was chosen because, during the costume selection discussion, Miho (bass) remarked, "I've been wearing black stage costumes for a long time and I'm tired of it. Sometimes I just want to play in a feminine costume." This was the starting point.
However, there was a possibility that they would not be accepted by the people around them because it went against the stereotype of heavy metal, but they decided to do what they wanted to do even if it meant becoming lone wolves, and they dared to make the choice.

  • @athlonen
    @athlonen ปีที่แล้ว +21

The other reason why they wear white on stage: SO THEY CAN BE SEEN. You already mentioned that most metal bands have always worn black, which is true. But when you look at the ladies, at this time the tallest one was Miyako (Dean guitarist), who was barely 5'2". The shortest is Haruna (drums) at 4'9". If they all wore black then each one would be drowned out by the gear on stage, amps, risers, the entire lot. Wearing white allows them to be seen, which always keeps the spotlight on them.
Next on your list from this very same show should be their show opener, Thunder Vengeance, which is also the song right before Holy War. After that, I'd say to go straight to Break the Wall, then their opening piece for their encore, The Awakening/Hammer of Wrath. You can't go wrong with those.

Their "old bass player" was the founder and recruited Haruna her drummer bandmate from Destrose and together they formed Lovebites getting Midori and Miyako and Miho loved Asami's R&B demo tape and chose her to learn power metal Miho's hero bass player is Steve Harris of Iron Maiden and Haruna loved Helloween

Thanks for more LOVEBITES! From same show,
    "Break The Wall": th-cam.com/video/5Pc0XK0lNmU/w-d-xo.html
    Thrash, with a transition ...
I consider their composition & arrangement talents to be
on par with their musicianship. Unsurpassed.
But, of course, you can't "arrange" a segment of
    hyper-tremolo-picked palm-muted arpeggiated-chords
in perfect sync with 3 other musicians,
song after song for 2 hour, 18-song shows ...
unless you have musicians that can perform that.
Repeat listens reveal imaginative uses of techniques.
Haruna's cymbal work combined with precise dbl-kick (!)
While her snare-hit locks it tight. The 'conductor' (?)
"Break The Wall" might dispel the "PowerMetal" stigma...
All 60 songs are worthy of your time. No kidding. 60

Here is the thing. The 2020 show is (so far) the best live experience of LOVEBITES and the one you should react to, in reference to LIVE performances of the band. The 2021 show, performance-wise is even better, but due to the absolute covid restrictions there is no actual interaction with the audience (they were only allowed to stand and applaude).
p.s.: since I see you are more into the harder staff, I strongly recommend for your next Lovebite reactions "Break the Wall", "The Hammer of Wrath" and "M.D.O.", all three live from the same show (2020). 🤘🐺🤘

The new issue of Classic Rock Magazine is out and it has a review of the album Judgement Day. The album is given a 8/10 and the review concludes with this - "the album plays out like a love letter to the 'music conquers all' energy of classic heavy metal, songs like The Spirit Lives On spotlighting the irrepressible positivity and vitality that makes Lovebites so utterly brilliant." Regarding the song Stand And Deliver (Shoot'em Down) the magazine says "newcomer Fami delivers the greasiest bass tone since Motorhead". Fami's first album and she is already being compared to the late great Lemmy. I hope someone shows it to her.

The ladies of Lovebites enjoy being feminine women, therefore the pretty dresses/heels - and the white color helps them stand out as they are all quite small! The new bassist, Fami, and Miyako are both around 5' 2" and the other three are 4' 9," 4' 10," and 4' 11" - also part of why they have the little platforms to step up onto. Asami spent something like 16 years in ballet and is a big part of the way she moves and gestures on stage. They really combine a lot of genres and influences to make their unique brand of Metal....I love it all! Cheers guys, hope you continue down this path!🤘

I agree..also "Thunder Vengeance".."Awakening/ "Hammer of Wrath" then theres masterpieces like Edge of the World, and Frozen serenade (those versions with lyrics please)..According to some, the white is so they can be seen on stage, because of their stature.. • @MissLoonasSpeech
      @MissLoonasSpeech ปีที่แล้ว

While Lovebites do have quite a couple of songs which I'd consider Power Metal, they aren't confined to just one subgenre unlike most Power Metal bands or bands from other metal subgenres. Personally, my favourite subgenre is Thrash Metal, whereas I'm not much into Power Metal, but there are a few exceptions to the rule which all have in common that they do sound somewhat rawer/thrashier. E.g. I still love Helloween's debut album "Walls of Jericho" (1985), which nowadays is mostly refered to as Power Metal, whereas way back then, it was often called Speed Metal. If you listen to "Ride the Sky" or "How Many Tears?" (my two favourite songs by Helloween), you will notice that they have a rather raw and more "thrashy" guitar sound. I'd also recommend the album "Soldiers of the Night" by Vicious Rumors, also from 1985, which has a rather raw sound and featured two excellent shredders. Try e.g. the the song "Ride (Into the Sun)": th-cam.com/video/qJIsAOhfmW4/w-d-xo.html Another band I'd mention in this context are Helstar, especially their albums "Remnants of War", "A Distant Thunder" and "Nosferatu" (all released in the eighties). As an example, I suggest their song "Harker's Tale", also featuring some excellent guitar work: th-cam.com/video/vlxBhWYApCs/w-d-xo.html These are songs which IMO also would fit Lovebites style perfectly, which might also explain why I find Lovebites' Power Metal songs very enjoyable.

I said it out there on another channel but I'll say it again here. If you really want to be speechless, you must see the Lovebites masterpiece called "A Frozen Serenade". When after a few minutes you can speak again, maybe you can say something like "I don't know what to say"... And it's not a joke.
Maybe it is not a masterpiece in terms of lyrics, but it is in terms of musical composition and staging. th-cam.com/video/Ae8pQVu-RN8/w-d-xo.html

One might have hoped for a cover of Détente's "Holy War", though, which is BTW a great song from one of the very few female-fronted Thrash Metal bands that were around in the eigthies. I could imagine that Midori would love the "screaming" guitar solos on that song as well as on the entire album "Recognize No Authority". The White is not a gimmick - it is a Choice. They are tiny (4'8" to 5'2") and white helps them be seen on stage. They also say they see no reason they can't be feminine and still blow your face off - and that is straight up Metal Bad Ass-ness. Lovebites 'Gimmick' is their F-ing Talent. 🤘🐺🤘

Your openess to heavy metall acccording to LOVEBITES is commendable, as I discovered their special genius just 6 months ago. To fully appreciate the depth and breadth of heavy metal according LOVEBITES, I strongly recommend going through their (two-hour/18-songs!) concert setlist (in heels!) or review their previous albums as you did with Judgement Day. I suggest starting with their show opener THUNDER VENGEANCE : th-cam.com/video/yWE7PqCpGi4/w-d-xo.html from their Five of a Kind Live in Tokyo 2020 (1 hr 46 minutes) at this link: th-cam.com/video/-cccKfsAnHg/w-d-xo.html . Perhaps consider doing something like what this recent reactor Cheezyxy did ... a well-received stream of their live studio performance (The Abyss) at this link: th-cam.com/video/4G9I1ceN4y4/w-d-xo.html

Thanks for the reaction. I'm sorry, but you're repeating your mistake by saying that LOVEBITES only released 4 Albums. You do not take into account other releases of the band. LOVEBITES has recorded nearly 60 original songs and musical compositions. In addition to songs from 4 Albums, the band released 12 more original songs + 3 covers ( different EPs,Live,Compilation). These songs are not found anywhere else. They are not on the Studio Albums. These songs are not worse than the songs that are on the Albums.

Who would a thought you could mix operatic vocals and heavy power metal and it would be awesome! Like BabyMetal mixing Kawaii (Kawaii is the culture of cuteness in Japan) and metal and actually officially creating a new genre (Kawaii Metal). The Japanese are musical genius's while the west can't get out of it's own way. Modern music in the west is shameful in comparison!

Great reaction. Actually not one of their best songs IMO, I don't know why so many people keep recommending it, but of course it's not a bad song either.
How about more of their thrash songs or maybe one of their soul-influenced songs for a change?

When the fans voted on which songs to include on the "In the Beginning" album, Holy War received the most votes out of all their songs. It is one of the best songs to introduce someone to Lovebites with. It contains great vocals by Asami, several wow moments, good guitar solos, crowd interaction, and a typical Lovebites sound of power thrash. That being said, I do rank at least 10 songs higher than this one out of all the Lovebites songs.

@@ChadTheDragonLord IMO it suffers a bit from too many verses/choruses before the solos, which makes it drag on a bit. Their musical performance is great as always, but the songwriting on this one might have profited from one stanza less.
Hey, I'm a fan, I'm allowed to say that.

@@oliphant2848 I actually agree with your point there. When I first heard this song played two years ago I didn't notice it, but after hearing it about ten times I started to think as you did, that the opening two verses seemed really long and dragged a bit. I prefer longer songs, as long as they have changes in it. Holy War doesn't change much, all three verses are the same and in the middle is a bridge and the solos.

Seriously, this was not power metal, Lovebites is not a power metal band, to this point no one even knows what power metal even means. This is solely and unadulterated heavy metal with a slight kiss of thrash. Since 2017 it is all I hear from everyone "I am not a fan of power metal" and no one gives a true answer to what power metal is? It was the same BS when Metallica and Megadeth came about everyone began calling it speed metal when all along it was thrash metal. One thing I will say speed and power metal is boring and repetitive writing with the same solos as dragon force, Yngwie Malmsteen no melody just play fast as hell and it sucks. Lovebites is a constructive band that aren't afraid to incorporate and infuse everything there is out there including the classical element.

"Gimmick" is a low class word. Pretty insulting if you ask me. I prefer Modus Operandi.
