    Same problem came across this video for some info. Appreciate this to get started but would recommend just getting a new door latch off amazon for 50 bucks. I pulled the mechanism right off (have to have the window rolled up to get at the outer door latch nuts to disconnect the linkage). The lube wont fix it permanently as the problem is grime internal to the latch and its not built to be serviceable. Once again appreciate the info but this isn't fixed and the problem will pop up again without a new latch. You will end up removing two more 10 mil nuts, one 10 mil bolt (hidden behind a toonie sized plastic cap) and three torx bolts to get the the whole actuator out its super easy.

      Yes unfortunately it’s been a problem with Ford pickups since the late 90’s. There’s even a class action lawsuit for a few of the model years.

      Yes once you are able to pull it free and open the door, it will work with the key fob for a while, but after a few days it can start to bind up again.

    So this happened to both my back doors. One last week, and then the other on the week end. What an awesome video, thank you so much for posting this! Seriously, HOURS scrolling on line, in forums, thinking I had to remove my back seats to get the door panels out.... watched this video, paused it, walked out to my truck, rolled down the back windows, grabbed the nob, POP, both doors work. Unreal, your a hero sir.

    Wow! You are amazing. Thank you sooooooooo much! You even responded to so many folks. I can't wait to go try a harder pull! I was thinking I may have to remove the back seats to try and remove the door panel from inside the truck. I read all the comments and your responses and learned even more. Great video. Well done. Thanks again.

    @KirkfellFarm ... did the issue come back after the past year or did it stay away? I closed the door last night, today at the hardware store, I was unable to unlock it. I tried the pully thing on the nob and it just came off the rail thing. Going to try to grab it with a plier and pull it up to see if it opens. Otherwise, I'll need to sapper it and get the panel off with the door closed and figure it out. Ford life. Thanks for the video. I live in the rainy Pacific Northwest... occasionally, I'll get water in the hand rest thing, from bad seals as you mentioned.

      It didn’t come back for me, but I have since sold the truck, so I can’t say for sure. We had another baby, so we sold the truck and bought an SUV. Good luck 🤞

    This is an awesome video did you ever do a follow-up to let us know if you definitely fixed it I just bought an F-150 use it's a 2011 and I'm having a problem with the rear driver side door also I'm not sure if you know anything about stereos my stereo goes in and out switching speakers front and back mostly when it's on satellite though. Do you have any ideas about this

    • @KirkFellFarm
      @KirkFellFarm  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Unfortunately I never did do a follow up video, and ended up selling the truck to make room for something more family oriented. My factory stereo also had issues, but they happened right after we bought the truck. Ford replaced it on warranty.

      You won’t be able to. You will have to climb in from the other side, grasp the lock knob firmly and pull up as hard as you can. It will come up, it just may take a very hard pull.

    but what if my door is stuck shut? how am I supposed to remove the door

    • @KirkFellFarm
      @KirkFellFarm  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you roll down your window, you can reach in and open the door from the inside.
      If the child locks are on however, you will have to grab the lock knob with a pair of pliers and pull up really hard. The actuator will move, it just needs a good hard pull.

    • @shannacallaghancullen5570
      @shannacallaghancullen5570 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KirkFellFarm I have tried that. because I knew I wouldn't be able to get the panel all the way off due to not being able to get the bottom bolts. so I did get the the top part pried open with the help of my. and I established that it wasn't the cable. because it was still securely attached the door lock button moved up and down easily enuff. I know it's not child safety Lock
      I'm not sure what he did because I was on the outside of the truck holding the paddle back but he reached down in there and wiggled something which made the handle on the outside of the vehicle move but the door still won't open

      You have to grasp the lock knob firmly with a good set of pliers and pull up hard. It will move. You just have to convince it.

    As a preventive, do you think it may help to periodically remove the black pull knob thing on the rod and apply some wd-40 to the metal rod at the top bit?

    • @KirkFellFarm
      @KirkFellFarm  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You could try that, but there’s no guarantee that it’ll get to where it needs to be. Almost better to pull the door panel and spray it directly on the actuator.
      There is a class action lawsuit going on against Ford for the previous model F150, as they proved water was getting in because of bad door seals. Hopefully what comes of that is an improved door seal, and more reliable actuator mechanism.
