First half of the video is Mark Renshaw, then Lefevere comes in at about 2:30. No thanks to Lefevere for leaving Cav off the Tour team in 2022, the year after he'd tied the record. He could have broken the record in 2022 if he'd had the opportunity. Glad he got it done today so that he can silence all the naysayers.
@@burple65 and he was in top form in 2022. Won national Championchips...
Instead Lefevre went with Jakobsen.
Jakobsen was quite fast, but always lost Position.
@@k.e.7582 Reason, Merckx.
Wouldnt have won 35 without 30 to 34 🍩
Let's give all Cavs leadout men throughout his career some praise as well. Especially Mark Renshaw.
@maxvain never been a more perfect match for cav then renshaw...HTC days were another level
Lefevere needs to just go away.
Cav pure Legend.... and boy did he have to fight for #35... Chapeau Cav. should have kept Patrick the DH off Cav's Moment....!
Always worth the risk of having Cav in the team because now the enduring image of Mark is one of him wearing the Astana jersey. Shrewd by Vino.
Get what you deserve Patrick. Daylight to Philipsen, Jakobsen 5th, Bennett 15th.
@@sweatyfootenjoyer absolutely smoked philipsen. I especially love the fact cav dropped his chain across the line
This years race has summed up Mark’s career with iIllness, people doubting and writing him off, then shows them all he’s the goat sprinter.
Cav #35 is so awesome‼️ Mark Renshaw was one of the greatest lead out riders ever. Lefevere is eating HUMBLE PIE right now 🤣🤣
It's crazy how he wrote him off in 2022. The British National Champion, one of the best sprinters on God's green earth, didn't get a place in Patrick's team. Knight of the realm, Sir Cav just proved the biggest mouth in cycling since Oleg Tinkoff wrong.
All of the sudden Lefevre has a mouthful of potatoes. Weird, can perfectly understand what he’s saying in all other interviews
Reason, Merckx.
Throwing up in stage one to this! Amazing
Rrrrriiiiiight. He's kicking himself right about now. Everybody else saw that he had 35 in him, why didn't Lefevere? I think he was just being dirty.
Lets not forget that its thanks to Patrick that Cav was able to win stage 31, 32, 33 and 34. Without him, Cav would've retired 3 or 4years go after his last season at Bahrain. PATRICK was the only one that still believed in him and gave him another chance.
Agree with Renshaw and wouldn’t bet against Cav getting another stage. Phillipsen couldn’t come round him and getting a win under your belt often brings more
Could never understand why Lefev threw away the opportunity to have his team’s shirt forever in historic pictures. Ego overtook business sense. So glad Cav paid him back.
His loyalty to Jacobsen who nearly lost his life in a Soudal Quickstep shirt was more prominent than his loyalty to a rider who was given a second chance a year earlier
And that loyalty lasted as long as it does with Patrick…..
@@traderz13 Jacobsen left because he knew Patrick had to build a team around Remco Evenepoel.
Scary to think how many more wins he would have achieved if not for illness or injury or even if other DS believed more in him.
would have happened a lot sooner without Lefevere getting in the way
I'm not a Lefevre fan but he's one of the few who offered him a contract when Cavendish thought he had finished what he thought was his last ever race when he rode for Bahrein at Gent - Wevelgem in 2020.
Greg, did you think Mark would win again in TDF?
No
Lefervre on one hand was torn between making a decision to sign Cavendish again for money he didnt have and sign younger sprinters.. i remember his saying his heart said yes and head said no. Im sure hes really happy for Mark.. its all Astanas show ..
Get a 36th stage today please Mark
As Cav says never give up.....great to see him achieve with all the doubters since he started winning at the Tour since 2008....that photo wearing Astana and riding Wiler bike will be the shot everyone now sees ....so Patrick can stop moaning every year he struggles for sponsors...he dumped Cav for no reason....
Lefevere is sick as a dog, dumped cav and now is regretting it as Astana now reaping the rewards for faith in the Manx missile
It was a disgrace for the man and the sport for Lefevere to bench Cav in 22. (Not to mention unconscionable incompetence in public relations.) Chapeau to Vino and Astana for seizing the opportunity!!!
It was such a nice sprint too and such a convincing win, especially important seeing the clip of this win is going to be replayed a lot in the future.
Patrick leaving him off the 2022 TdF is NOT aging well….
Lefev had written him off big time
Lefevere is terrible!
Project 36 is now started 😊
Anyone hear from Merckx?
That was a crazy sprint. I’d like to see overhead all the way, how did he pass a guy in that last corner?
Congrats CAV
No sprinter will get ever close to the record but maybe Pogacar in the future could overtake it, but who knows
Lefevere should just shut up.
I thought he spoke well here. He said, as they didn’t have a sprinter they were a bit divided between Fabio and Mark. That shows they were supporting they former riders.
