"For what, your mum on facebook. Get a grip." Incredible
I thought the same thing!! spectacular race breakdown!
Doesn't their mum know she can just watch lanterne rouge?
Ha, definitely vintage Lantern right there…
I have re-watch it 100times just for the giggles.😂
"totla energie obviously got bigger fish to fry" i am dying
Greatest of all time.
Does anyone know whey there weren't any cops blowing whistles and waving flags ahead of the street furniture on this stage?
6:49 that bunny hop over the crash was crazyy
zingle lol he has those mtb skills
Yeah that might be the cleanest bunny hop ive ever seen
Best bunny hop in Tour history, immortalised thanks to Mark Cavendish.
@@DM-jh5rs it was zingle not coquard
Must’ve watched Road Party
I started watching cycling and the Tour when I was a kid in 2008. Having seen the highs and lows of this man's career, I had an ear-to-ear grin seeing him put his hands in the air today. It has been an absolute privilege to watch this sprint and his career
Me too. Class 2008. Cav’s career makes me emotional
After expertly following two wheels at the end , he just exploded the pace and caught out loads of riders , what a champ 🏆 💪
Same, I feel like we've seen 3 unique pelotons in this time and as of today he's still winning.
Literally exactly me too! I was four years old, it was my first time watching the tdf, and he was the guy who kept me watching all those years later
Similar here, think it was 2010 when I saw him win on the Champs-Elysees when I was 9 and really vividly remember I was just so stunned at his speed, like he'd been fired out of a rocket and everyone else was standing still. Just in awe of his achievements, the rest of the HTC and Sky highs, the lows after the yellow jersey year and the resurgence that even I'd given up on, just incredible
Not only did he prove us wrong once again, but this was arguably one of his best wins. Perfectly navigated the field after losing his lead out, perfectly timed kick, and no one could come close. What a win!
Seriously it was one for the ages
Yeah I went back and watched that sprint a couple of times, couple hundred metres to go he was boxed in and I was like how the...?
Masterful navigation of that sprint pack, just found the gap and shot out the front just in time.
As someone said during the 2016 Tour, Cav's sprint is superstrong, but his wheel surfing is Jedi level. Beautiful.
In our country, we call this luck of God
Definitely satisfying seeing him leave Philipsen in the dust! Perfection! 👏👏👏
"Morons in the middle of the road taking a video for your mum on facebook, get a grip" - Beautiful
200th ❤ like
So happy for Cav, he was already the goat sprinter, but locking in that record was special. Gotta love the Astana team for backing him and getting him the opportunity,
Yeah, as brilliant as it is for Cavendish and all his fans, Astana needed that. The energy in their team bus must be amazing.
I will buy one of there shirts just for backing him
Won't forget interailing in France in 2008. Won't forget this. The way he surfed through the wheels like he was conducting an opera in front of him was magical and instructive of his instinct. The marginal gain metrics are yet to bottle that. I'm 39 and pulled a muscle putting my socks on yesterday. Chapeau.
Haha I feel that last sentence in my bones, am turning 42 this year.
How do you get like that?
I was in the form of my life in my forties and winning lots of time trials.
immense Respect for this man....he kept believing when almost nobody else did!!!!
@Vlad88822 we'll be waiting for your follow up comment that provides proof of that.
That bunnyhop by the Cofidis rider was just great!
No one is talking about how crazy Victor Campernaerts is riding without glasses all the time. His eyes must be so red and dry from all that wind, bonkers mate just bonkers
Dude is a real freak of nature. Not to mention that he is constantly pacing everyday, and often in breakaways, or doing giant rides in a solo breakaway.
One can only presume it's more aero. The man is dedicated!
He’s unbelievable, whenever he’s on the front the peloton gain about a minute on the breakaway 🤣
@@username8644He’s probably the best pure time trialist in the tour right now. Shame he never goes for time trial wins.
Look for his lastest video here on TH-cam , a day with Victor.... He does it for no reason ... Why .. just because everyone has sunglasses 😂😂
Mads Pedersen will decide tomorrow if he is ready to continue, his left side was hit hard.
6:50 The Cofidis rider that bunny hops Mads Pedersen was INCREDIBLE! WOW! 👏👏👏
Poor Mads..... ugh. Looked awful! 😱
SOOO proud of Cav!!! 👏🤩🥳❤️
A great finish from the Manx Missile. He's not as punchy as he used to be but he's got the tactical head on him and a team to guide him to those results, like the HTC days.
And his superior streamlined structure gains him valuable milliseconds when he moves out of the draught
THE BUNNY HOP THOUGH.
I want the aerial view on that shot
Saved some skin for sure what those skills
@@Architek1 and one of those seatpost mounted cameras from velon; hopefully a rider in the right place at the right time caught it...
Experience and mental strength will always triumph over raw power when it comes to clutch moments...Congrats to the GOAT Sprinter Sir Mark Cavendish 🙌
Hopefully more of the same for Cav tomorrow. Confidence is High
The way Mark surfed up, wheel by wheel then lit the afterburners…BOOM…. Rolled the years back. What a total legend.
Congrats to Mark Cavendish, but how about Axel Zingle with the bunny hop over Mads Pederson? That was NUTS and probably saved both of their Tours.
Spectators blocking the road seems to be a BIG problem this year. Yesterdays stage, on the Galibier, and then today. GTFO of the way spectators!
It has been a problem forever... I think Alpes d'Huez 99 is still one of the worst (Opi Omi set the bar high recently...), where Guerini, leading the stage, fell (and broke a tooth) because of a 19yo taking a picture in front of him.
morons are growing in numbers since social media and netflix release last year smaprtphones are big thing too they rather watch screen than riders
They want spectators blocking the road. Otherwise they'd remove them
Pretty cool that Cav breaks the record with a sprint that clearly shows the experience and strategy of his discipline, and not just a perfect leadout, a reduced field, or some mistake from his opponents. Glad he got to do it in style. Curious to see if he gets another this tour. If Jasper continues to look this unremarkable, and Pederson is truly banged up, then he may yet win a few.
An absolute legend of the sport. The greatest sprinter of all time. This was already true but this win 16 years after his first underlines just how good he is.
Also absolutely everyone watching him and no way to sneak up on a sprint attempt.
Did you hear the fight starting behind camera after they finished cavs first interview? Someone kept saying “get your hands off me” and cav was trying to calm them down
I never had any doubts about Mark. He is THE GOAT of sprinters, and that record will stand forever unless Pog tries to break the record! And I loved seeing him beating Jasper Philipsen to get number 36. Jasper is a smug arrogant bully that got out sprinted by a 39 year old man, and his reaction after getting beat says it all about what kind a racer he is he just rides by Mark and doesn't congratulate Mark at all like all the other sprinters did..I wouldn't be surprised if he gets another win or 2 more.
he did congratulate him though, reached his arm back as he went past
funny how Jasper doesn't seem to win when he isn't swerving around ramming the other sprinters into the barriers
yep what a douche.
Many congrats for Cav. He's been controversial, but that was a Fckn masterclass of a sprint for his clinching of the outright record.
woke my dog up and everything when cav won lmao
I scared my cat.
@@LAMF24 I even scared your cat!
i warned my dog i was about to start shouting; i startled her for bini's win too!
Epic Cav! I was screaming watching this!
Side note: Portuguese commentators were having a meltdown at the start, with the riders going slow.
What is this, the third I never thought Mark Cavendish could do this! The Manx Missile proving all the doubters wrong.
Went to my track cycling league today and guess who was there??? Mark's brother and I beat him in a sprint. So technically I beat Cavendish on the day he won his 35th stage!
2024 Patrick Lefevere to 2022 Patrick Lefevere: "should have put Cav in the TdF line up for the 35th win so that I can get all the credit"
Jokes on you, Patrick! 🤪
Still don't get why they did that
@@PHHE1 jacabsom was seen as the better sprinter and putting him with cav is a recepie for unwanted fireworks
@@JZTechEngineering Cav has the form of his career that time. He just won the British national champs in a non-sprinter like way. At that time Jakobsen has not won anything yet in the season or have placing top 3 or top5, I could be wrong. But Im very sure of the form Cav has that time of 2022 before TdF.
@@PHHE1 politics maybe. Patrick is Belgian and so is Merckx. But one thing is SURE, we will never truly know. 🤷🏻♂️
@@JZTechEngineering And I think J got one sprint that yr? Versus a fair chance Cav would have gotten 1, also
Yes, Cav!! So delighted!
No word for Bini taking the green jersey though?
Thanks for showing the complete overhead view! We never saw it on TV, so it was difficult to understand how Cav ended up the other side of the road after being boxed in on the right side. Clear win, great performance for a 39 yo sprinter!!
@@great_live_music He should not have been allowed to keep it. He changed lane after launching his sprint, this led to all the other sprinters changing lanes and ultimately led to the crash of Pedersen. The exact rule of sprinting is worded as follows:"Riders shall be strictly forbidden to deviate from the lane they selected when launching
into the sprint and, in so doing, endangering others." Did Cav change lane after launching, definitely! Did it endanger others? Pedersen crashing would not have happened if the others kept to their lanes. Thus it is easy to argue that the lane changing did endanger others.
@JeppeAchtonNielsen You missed the part where he looks over his shoulder, finds the clear air, and moves across without actually pinning anyone to the barrier? The move didn't impede any other riders sprint, Pedersens crash was a result of going for a gap that was closing naturally as the bunch straightened up out of the corner
@@eddypawson doesn't matter. The rule say that he is "strictly" forbidden from changing lane. Therefore he is not allowed to change lane, even if he thinks it is safe!
@@JeppeAchtonNielsenget a grip.
@@JeppeAchtonNielsen Hard disagree, the video evidence shows Cav moved into an empty lane and didn't cut off anyone else.
At 7:30 you can clearly see the huge open space around Cav. Philipsen is the one who swerves across the road and cuts off several other riders. The rider in red behind Philipsen at 7:31 doesn't move at all despite Philipsen jumping in front of him, so clearly his lane is unaffected.
It's the rider in red and yellow behind that guy who cuts hard left into the barriers that causes the chain reaction sending Pedersen into the barriers at 7:32.
Pedersen's crash had nothing to do with Cav or even Philipsen, and Philipsen's maneuver was far more dangerous to the other riders. The fact that nobody threw their hands up in protest further proves the point.
I'm so freaking excited for this. I was watching Cav back in 2010 when I was first getting into cycling, and watching his ride these ~15 years has brought me so much joy. So happy for him.
That was so awesome I was yelling. I got super ready with anticipation when the Astana train moved to the front
Me too!
Great win for Cavendish, pleased to see him mop the floor with Philipsen who strikes me as an arrogant jerk.
Beautiful win for The Cav.
Take a shot everytime he says "furniture." Just don't hit the furniture when you pass out.😂
While everyone knows he is fast, maybe not as fast as previous years, but still fast, Cav won today with skill. He was able to watch the race unfold before him and pick his wheel and his opportunity. Mountains of respect for him. A racer with class winning with class. Cementing his place as the GOAT.
That was excellent sprint from Cav just amazing acceleration at right time crossing to the left
So glad he did it because he'd had so many oportunities taken away from him (like his 2013(?) crash in harrogate when he was on amazing form
That's a nice way to take the record. A showcase of his sprint craft right there.
Wrong. We all believed he could do it! GOAT CAV
What a win for cycling
on that sprint finish did someone bunny hop over the rider who crashed?
Yes. Axel Zingle bunny hopped over a fallen Mads Pederson.
Zingle over poor Pederson that crashed on bariers
Why is no one talking about the bunny hop over Pederson by the Lotto rider??
LR you missed the exchange between Pog and Cav after the race. “Don’t you go breaking my record!” Could Pog realistically do it?
yes mathematically he could, Pog averaging 3 stages/year , now he is already won 12, he is only 25
@@linkfeiz Cav had better get on and win a few more stages this tour.
It was like a highlight wheel of Cav: surfing the wheels, knowing what wheel to sit on and then the power, which he holds off phillipsen showing his power. Providing he stays safe, I can see another win or two this tour
The wheel jumping that Cav did to win that sprint was just amazing; Sagan style.
Where were the police on all that road furniture today. Not 1 that I saw with a whistle and a flag. That is poor organisation.
Yeap. No Gendarmerie motorcycle officer.
Absolutly loving this tour, insanely satisfying stages and winners so far.
You couldn't write a more perfect first two sprint stage winners than Girmay and Cav.
Sprint stages are so boring
dont watch the early part, come in at around 40k to go
What's with the warning systems for the road barriers. Support crews?
Def need some people with flags and whistles like in the TdS
Will the UCI bring back Chris Froome for a TDF win? They may after the fake Cavendish sprint. Any sprinter this year could have beaten Mark in a real sprint
What a fake sprint-Cavendish hit every one going through--This was planned for him. I may quit watching the TDF
I was watching the race this morning around 10 am, considering whether I (an American) should maybe go buy beer to do some day drinking during the holiday tomorrow.
I decided, with about 25 mi to go, decided, "If Cav wins, we'll do some day drinking."
Now it's 5:30 pm, and I've got a nice buzz going.
Way to go, SIR Mark Cavendish!
wahey! how are you feeling now, two hours after you posted that?
I'm happy that cav won his 35th, but im happier seeing the salt on Jasper's face. Call me a professional Jasper hater since 2023.
Great analysis. Clearly the team keeping Cavs powder dry to the very end mattered big time. When riding at threshold in a sprint and you have to move up you burn your matches quickly. Cav also did all the right choices to get an open line. Big congrats to him.
😢 Congratulations, but.. Didn't like the way he pushed riders on the right on the run in, very dangerous!!!
BTW his chain popped off on the finnish line.
he earned it - I’ll eat my words from previous comment. but now he’s going going ……GONE.
OMFG, I am sooo happy for Cav 🤩🤩🤩 It's been hard seeing him in the wilderness these past years. What an absolute legend
POGI unfortunately caused the crash behind him!!
what weve all been waiting for
Especially when you know how much he's been looking forward to retirement and to put it back a whole year because he knew 35 was there, even at 39 years of age and it would forever have nagged him not have got it.
Does also make you wonder what Cav could've done if he didn't have 2017-20 robbed from him too
Pogi fast asleep causing a .inor crash smh
Tadej should have joked around and said hey guys wouldn’t it be funny if I attacked and pretend to go up the road a bit but then continue attacking and solo 100k to the finish😂
a 39 year old sprints like a 26 year old Sagan
Good on you Cav, you have brought entertainment and emotion to this great sport for many years, a well deserved place in the history books.
When I saw him playing with his handlebars after the start I thought he was done.
Crossing the finish with so much slack in his chain is VERY suspicious.
#motor
Why is there not a person with a flag in front of the road furniture?? It's 2024, this is not rocket science
”HE’S DONE IT, absolutely incredible! It ain’t over till it’s over!” - Martin Tyler
this video is just skipped the part when he pushed aside the other riders around him...
Cyclists are going to be studying how Cavendish negotiated his way to the front on that stage for years. Thing of absolute beauty the last 1km; zero fear or doubt.
So happy for Cav. The commentators and studio here in Britain were absolutely elated.
Not sure what was more epic, the Cavendish win or that sick bunny hop :-o
Cav’s sprint came across as a master class. Is there anyone else in the peloton who would have the sense and ability to thread the needle AND cut across the road - safely - like that? That’s the stuff of legend.
Congrats to the greatest TDF sprinter all time.
Astana 💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪
Tadi’s street furniture manuever😳😳😳
As much as that was a great save by Pogi, he caused that crash!
So happy and see Mark Cavendish Break the record
The Best
do you see how philipsen moves across like a mad man. should get relegated
6:50 That bunny hop... Wish we had a POV.
No mention of that bunny hop?
Fabulous masterclass in sprinting!
First! LFG SIR CAV.
Yea CAV. Astana “knucklehead” strategy of singing Cav is justified 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Pogi could crush this record, hes on 12
I feel so bad for the people on the right 1:34
Justice served to Patrick Lefevere
Cav dropping his chain on the line 🙈
no love for that bunny hop?? 😅
In Italy usually there are people pointing out those pieces of road furniture with flags... It's dangerous like this!
Insane that the world's premier cycling race won't put a person with hi-viz and a flag to stand on a divider. I bet that hundreds of people would volunteer to be in the literal middle of the peloton!
Thanks for putting the result in the thumbnail bro 😂
Literally everyone with a brain knew Cav could do it. They wrote him off when HTC fell apart, they wrote him off when leaving the British Team Sky, they wrote him off at Dimension Data, was said to retire 6 years ago, would have no chance in 2021 at the age of 36, let alone in 2024 at the age of 39 against all the best sprinters in the world (only Merlier and Milan missing I think). Let me tell anyone who ever doubted Cav: Cav will stop delivering when he retires himself, on his terms.
Astana and Vinokourov believed in Cav.
121 ARNAUD DE LIE was probably the cause of Mads crash as he made the left move, forcing the guy behind to move as well not to overlap, and that put Mads in the barrier.
