He's hit the deck a million times with that bobbing and weaving the last few hundred meters, but when it works, it's amazing to see him flow through the other riders. Like watching Picasso paint.

His decision making in the last couple of K was spot on. Popping back out at the front every time it looked like he'd been boxed in. His team did a great job from 30k out, making sure that he was there or thereabouts towards the end, but the train went to pieces before the final km. Cav's ability to pick the right wheel, see the gaps, know when to open up, see when the rider in front is about to blow etc etc. Phenomenal.

Even BEFORE he got #35 they were some of my most prized possessions but now that he made history they are even more so if that's even possible. I'm sure there are plenty of people that would love to purchase just one but I wouldn't part with a single one!! Not a chance My best one is him and I together at the hotel (I was staying at the same hotel as his team) and he's in the green jersey and I am wearing my Union Jack like a Superman cape. The next pic is him signing my Union Jack. That autographed flag is professionally framed on my wall with those two pics mounted within the frame. I then went out to the team bus and took a pic with Mark Renshaw and had Mark Renshaw sign it as well. It's such an incredible piece. The memories attached to that day and that piece has to be my MOST prized possession overall 🤘🏻🏴

Cav has acted like a baby a number of times in full view of the cameras. He's a great sprinter, the way he came through the middle today was beautiful. He can also be a baby. Both things can be true at the same time.

I have huge respect for the climbers, but for me, there is nothing that compares to watching this guy work his magic in the sprints. When you throw in him being 39, his injuries, his mental health battles, and how badly he struggled on Saturday. Unreal.
I made a fool of myself with Mark In 2003. I lived at the Gold Coast in Australia. I had raced Inline speed skates on the pro tour in 2000, but in Oz I took up bike racing. On one of the training rides I saw a new guy and asked him if he raced, it was Mark, didn't recognize him In person. he just said yes.
39 year old sprinter! Respect overflowing. He’s got family and kids which he’s sacrificed for years to be away from to achieve the world record. You could see him hold back tears, all that sacrifice paying off.

Over the last 2 decades watching Cav in the last km of a sprint stage has truly been something to behold. Every single young sprinter with aspirations of attaining World Tour status should be studying how Cav operates. The split second decisions choosing the right wheel and holding position are unbelievable. Even darting to the left as he jumped to stop Jasper having a straight line draft again another split second remarkable decision! How many world class sprinters have challenged his crown for a couple of seasons then faded away? To still beat the best in the world over 2 decades is the mark of the GOAT!!
I hope Astana gets all the publicity in the world for giving him and us these opportunities and moments! A lifetime of work summed up in a sprint. Chapeau Mark!

I was drunk in a pub with a random guy named Greg that had asked for the tour to be on TV, When I heard him yelling at Cav I knew I had a partner for the day, we were jumping with anticipation 10km before the line, we explained that we were cheering for a Britain racer to beat the record, and people just got arround us cheering for the "light blue guy", by the end, there was beer flying and free shots being given arround.. What I thought would be another lonely TdF stage watching, became one of my fonded sporting memories with 10 or so random people that I'll probably never see again. Thank you Manx Missile

I also didn’t think he could but because of his age. But sprinting is also a lot of luck in being in the right spot at the right time

He is the one with the most stage wins, that's the fact. Whether this makes him the best sprinter, is a subjective opinion. Other people may have other subjective opinions
@@CaminoCarpet Different eras . There is no comparing the two., and nobody is claiming Cav is better than EM. Of course you could also make the comment that Merckx competed against mainly cabbage farmers.
