I get too attached to the fabric stash, and thus have too much! I guess I need to stop cleaning and cooking, and just SEW! LOL

When I retired in August 2021, I started keeping a journal, just a weekly/monthly planning calendar and every day I jot down what I did that day. What I cleaned in the house, if I exercised or not, and what I sewed on. That way I keep track of my progress. I also have a page in the front where I record how many dog beds I have filled with my scraps and donated. How many charity quilts I’ve made and donated, etc.
Good idea. I retired this past October. Still trying to get something of a routine going. Feeling lost not having to do anything. It’s odd

I wish I had started a journal. I retired in Dec 2021 and I have a routine, but I think a journal would Definately keep me more focused.
when i retired i threw out all clock, journals, schedules or anything that resembles what i had to do when i was working. even posting comments is not my favorite thing to do. i not only retired from my job but anything that resembles what i did on the job. as you can see i even threw out my typing skills.
I started a quilt journal 4 years ago and I like it.
I have spent the day rearranging and decluttering, makes me feel better to get rid of the “stuff” that tends to wind up in my space during the Holidays😊Of course,,, I have more to do!😅
This time of year when staying home is a must due to bad weather. I love de-cluddering the whole house. Tossing out or put in yard sale box for spring sale. One thing I love buying is journels and notebooks and purple ink pens but never use them. Crazy huh? So 2023 I'm going to start. I want to plan more of my projects out so I don't over buy fabric. Finish before I start another.

Yes, I need to get organized. This year I have been scatter brain. I left some sewing to the last minute and was really stressed. 2023 is a new year, a new beginning. I need to get a planner. Love your videos.💟
Just get it done quilts does a wonderful January decluttering challenge. That would be a super easy way to get ideas on what to look at and sort through!
I saw a cardinal Christmas morning in my butterfly bush. I couldn't get my phone out quick enough to get a picture before he flew on up the street.
I use a plain notebook (not a planner) because something with dates always makes me feel like I'm wasting pages if I don't have anything to write that day. I usually get a smaller size than a composition book, and it's usually spiral bound. Every month I write down my income and bills, to make sure I pay them all. And then whatever notes I need to jot down, especially with family stuff, I just go to the next page. I'm famous for losing post-it notes, I can more easily find stuff if I use just one notebook. Sometimes I jot down poems, or ideas for quilts. However, when I am working on projects, I have several smaller notebooks that I randomly pick up and I jot down how to make each block on that project, like the Christmas Quilt FQS did this year. It kind of helps me focus on the block, and the parts needed. I don't try to be exactly accurate, just a quick sketch to give me an idea of what I'm doing. I keep all the blocks in a project in the same notebook. I do use the larger wall calendars to keep my appointments on, where everyone can see it and can find me if need be.
I started a project journal in 2019. I wanted to keep track of my WIP's and quilts for a show. I use a composition book that I made a quilted cover. I think it will get me through 2023. I really enjoy being able to look back at when I started projects and where I'm currently at.
The tiny black and whit woodpecker is probably a Downy if its small like a sparrow. If it’s bigger it’s a Hairy.

I’ve had company during the holiday, and watching your video each day has been my priority. You are my inspiration for next year. I must organize, set limits for time for me and get, and stay on task.
Saw the dragonflies on one of the sheets of stickers. Need to get those for my daughter-in-law who loves them. Have collected fabric with dragonflies that will go into a quilt for her. I picked up a 2023 planner last night for under $10. Started on it last night. I am also a wall calendar person. Hangs on the wall in my kitchen. I can see the whole month at a glance. Everything I need to remember or need to be is on there.

The zipper bags from candy wrappers are fun to make - I have made a few of them for grands and great niece. I was surprised at how sturdy they are.

I've begun my annual planning for the new year, and your timing is perfect for UFOs, declutter, - all of it. I promised myself that I would focus on my UFOs in 2023. I plan to finish one, then decided to finish a second one or make & finish a new small project. I didn't get much done in 2022 - thank you Covid & the everlasting fatigue. But now I'm ready to get back to doing and getting projects "done". Looking forward to 2023. Happy New Year

My issue is keeping notions organized. Not big stuff like rulers or x-stitch hoops but the tiny stuff. Pencils, crayons, seam rippers, etc.

I am using my LH planner as a journal where I record what I have accomplished each day along with exercise goals! I have planned out all my cross-stitch patterns for the year & currently working on what quilt projects I want to quilt. Surprisingly, I have no UFO’s… BUT I have WAY too many projects in baskets that need to be completed!

I couldn't help but notice the zigzag pattern on your Sweater Weather quilt between the 4th and 5th rows from the bottom as seen from the camera angle. What an interesting alternative from the intended diamonds! Sounds like lots of helpful organizational information coming up--looking forward to it!

I'm with Rose 2023 should be the year of the flamingo. Everywhere I go if I see a flamingo pattern or flamingo fabric it comes home with me. The other day you mentioned about going to Flamingo Gardens when you were in Florida, it is about 15 minutes from my son's home, and is a must to visit every year. Looking forward to goals and journaling, hoping it will stop my procrastination!!!!

A hint on shipping your quilts. DO NOT PUT THE WORD QUILT ON YOUR LABLE.
If your shipping company puts the description on your label call the contents textiles. Putting the word quilt on your label just sends up red flags for would be thieves. This will not affect the insurance value of the contents of your package. Also, take pictures of your quilt so that God forbid your package does go "missing" you can post pictures of your quilt on the internet so if it shows up somewhere you could possibly retrieve your quilt. I would also ship them signed receipt to a specific person if you have a name.
I started looking though my books that are IN my sewing room. Lol I have the sweater weather quilt book. Yep time to go through the books up stairs and down. 😂

Ihave a journal that I use. I put what I did for the day. To keep keep of progress on my projects.
I used to journal. I don’t anymore because I never went back and looked at the past. Now I would rather use my time to create something. I guess a list of what I need to get accomplished would be good for me…I tend to be one of those 🐿 people😂
I’m ready for a declutter month! My plan for January is to go through my scraps and reorganize them. My sewing room I recently organized, early this past year. My scraps is the only thing that got out of hand.
I did use a quilt organizer this year. It helped my kept me organized. I will do it again this year.

Speaking of books, I cannot find your book Pat, Teach Me to Sew Triangles. I find triangles a challenge for some reason. I keep a note book of ideas or things to do but not really a journal. I revise my to do list every so often. I really need to see that often to keep on track.
The plastic bag wrapping is soooo important. I received a wet box from FedEx Ex today, wet and muddy, and the fabric inside is ruined.
I love the red and white quilt on Pat's back wall. I have looked at the book The Perfect 10 and I can not find the pattern that looks like her quilt. The book on Fat Quarter Shop will let you see the pages and quilts and I don't see it. Can you guide me to the pattern. Thinking a great pattern for a Christmas quilt.
